It feels exactly the same as those mentioned too I had those at my old golds gym and cant even tell the difference Its nostalgic and I love the feel of it
Thanks for doing this review. Been looking at it for a while and this was the video that helped me pull the trigger. The only other video I really saw was from someone who clearly was paid to make the video. I feel like we’re entering a golden era of home gym items. With more people building home gyms more product is moving and shipping costs are falling. I mean, I can get a 360lb pound set of bumpers on Walmart rn for under $300. I’d like to see some factories open up either in the US or Mexico. I’m a HVAC contractor and almost all the HVAC equipment you see day to day is made in Mexico, and tbh it’s pretty good quality. Anyway awesome video thanks again!
You are welcome! I’ve review this kind of stuff exactly for this reason, I personally want to use and/or think it’s useful so others probably have similar questions. We are definitely getting to a good time where prices for new and even secondhand items are coming down or new equipment is filling the needed categories of functionality, footprint, and price so there is and will be plenty more like this for us home gym users to pick and choose what we need for a reasonable price! Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy yours too
@ I’ve been reliant on marketplace for a while. Second hand prices have definitely come back down to earth from where they were. I picked up a Rogue CT-1X2 this week for $1800 as my new cable machine. Love it
I know it’s great for buying at least in my area right now, no so great for selling ha but I’ll take it honestly because I just want more people to have cool stuff. Then like I said I think it incentivizes companies selling new stuff to fill price and needs gaps more That’s awesome about the Rogue tower. Enjoy 😊
It’s definitely overbuilt compared to the PowerTec one, I assume has a better range of motion, and is for sure the same price or cheaper. I’ve been very happy paying $1000 a year ago and at $699 as of today is pretty wild
@@TheJungleGymReviews why don’t You show how much weight on the machine you really lift with. Why do people put two plates on a leg press and say it’s built like a truck. If you had at least 5 plates on each side I’d take this review more seriously just saying. The lack of a head rest compared to the Powertec leg press is what makes me hesitant to buy it. I’m still on the fence 😂 like to see a comparison but for a stand alone leg press machine with linear bearing it looks like a killer deal. Have you gained any strength gains over the past year with it? Does it feel like a commercial one? How does it compare to the other leg presses you used?
@@James-dy6zh hey it's a valid point and I will tell you the main reason - because I have to film it and the clips of using it over and over again. So 8-10 reps with 10 plates when I am fresh doesn't equate to all the B roll of different angles of actually using the product, so ends up not being great for me or the video when filming after my kids go to bed at 11PM. second reason is similar which is then I have to take on and off 10 weight plates and lug them back and forth to the other part of the gym while filming all the different shots. I definitely agree about the lack of headrest, thank goodness I have that extra bench pad from another REP bench so then its pretty seamless for me. It does feel like a commercial one, as I said you wouldn't know the difference because it doesn't wobble or wiggle or move even with 10 plates loaded (that's only half it's weight capacity). Strength gains hard to tell, I haven't gained any weight this last year since I was training for distance running in parallel to strength trainings, but it obviously is a good hypertrophy workout as alternative to squats alone.
Glad I came across this. I’ve been going back and forth the past week on this and the powertec. This with the price allows me to use the extra money I would’ve used on the powertec for griffin mono lift rack attachments
i just ordered one, this video helped me pull the trigger... the price was so low is was making me think it was a scam. we will see. i might make a video on it just to help people in the future
glad to hear that. let me know how you like it! I agree, I am shocked this think has been around so long and there aren't that many reviews. it is always good to have more videos, opinions, perspectives
@@drobinson-tu4zh that is wild. I didn't see the price dropped again until you told me. they are 100% losing money on these, must be clearing out stock or something. in any case, enjoy!
Thank you! and I largely agree but definitely depends on the individual. For me, I can do enough other things like front squat, goblet squat, belt squat, to where for $700 just to have a singular function compound machine in a leg press. If someone is looking to maximize functionality or tight on space a combo unit is better but sacrifices some ROM and singular movement feel since geared towards both. As with everything in life, all about tradeoffs!
@@TheJungleGymReviews Another point is that most of these combo press/hack units simply don't do both well. Most do only one of the exercises well so it ends up not really being a combo machine.
@@anca1ag0n37 yep, that's what I was trying to say with "singular movement feel" meaning each individual movement ends up being OK, at least so far on the ones I have tried. I have been wrong before though!
@AnimationCraftFR hahahaha the footplate for small children is spot on. Thanks for making me laugh out loud in real life, not often do comments do that
The price / build is so good. Scary the markups companies are putting on their items to increase their margins. Would be a pain to transport, but worst case scenario you can always return it to any of the 4,000+ Walmart locations
I know it's pretty crazy! Honestly they might even come pick it up, I am not sure exactly how that works for the freight items. In any case you can, in theory, return or exchange it
thank you! I use SuperLube 92003 for all my machines and cable machines that need it. it is grease so it is easy to apply with some rubber gloves and then doesn't drip on anything and lasts like 6-12 months on a single application.
Thank you! 100% this one for me personally since I have other movements similar to hack squat, and leg press feels the best for me personally, so I would prefer a good leg press rather than an average combo unit. But some of that depends on your training, preference, etc.
thank you and you are welcome. They are great, ESPECIALLY for the quads (higher angle, bottom half of the plate). That is one of the reasons I bought it was to have the multi-angled footplate and it's been great. Between 2 footplate angles and the back angled you can dial in exactly what you want feel wise
thanks! I just put silicone grease on the guide rods and it's perfect. I like the grease vs. the spray because then it stays on the guide rods for a long time, I do that for all my weight stack machines too
@@TheJungleGymReviews Cool, ill do that but just wondering how one grease the bearings if they wanted too? Is there a nipple fitting or how would I access them without damaging the bearings?
@@Oldmanstrengths they are linear ball bearings built into the trolley so when you grease the guide rod it takes some of the lubricant into the housing itself. there is no nipple fitting
its the Magnum Biangular Transformer, it's an older school piece but awesome. I am going to do a review/equipment showcase in the new few months for it!
if you can see the stopper rails on left and right sides have different pegs so you can stop it in a very low setting if you can't get it back all the way up. There are 3 height settings. besides that the last line of defense are the super thick rubber stoppers that sit on the bottom of the guide rails. so if you fail it won't crush you because the trolley/slider just bottoms out on the rubber stopper. so you would have to get off, take some weight off and press it off if you ever fail a rep which has happened to me once or twice.
@@TheJungleGymReviews Thank you, hope it is not too much to ask but any chance you can take a picture of it bottomed out? I work out alone and just need to know how bad it looks in case of emergencies (say I get injured or something)
@@BNcherrypeppermint If you go to 6:18, you can barely see the stoppers on the guide rods. Long story short, about 2-3 more inches lower is where the machine bottoms out. So just imagine the leg press plate 2-3 inches further down
Hi, I am so sorry I don’t have the assembly instructions since it’s been over a year since I set it up and probably threw my copy out sometime ago.
