    Ever just think of making a spacer jig for the space between boards ?

    Bought your file. I'm having fun. A year after - do you have any new tips based on more experience? Sanding before versus after? Etc... Saw you had a darth vader one too. Any plans to design a Mandalorian helmet?

    Our CNC cutting size is 2' X 4' Do you have file for that?

    How long did the machine run from start to finish when carving these faces? I will be purchasing a CNC next week and these will be my first project and Im trying to figure up time and materials to see what my costs are and profit margin would be. So far Ive estimated my time to about 1.5 hours for 6 boxes ready to sell. I know the profit margin on these are pretty good anyways, I just like seeing the numbers.

    My machine has a 24 by 24 cutting area. Can I reduce the number I cut or separate them into individual faces ?

    I have 2 questions. What was the reason why you referenced the spoilboard instead of the material again? I have been used to referencing zero on the material.
    Also,why not just let the bit cut each face out with tabs instead of using a chopsaw at the end? You could have just let the CNC cut it I would think unless that was going to take too long or something.
    Thanks for the video!

      I referenced the board because my file is setup to start bottom left and my grid starts from there as well. In the program I know as long as my boards bottom left is at 0,6,12,18, and 24 I'll get my carves correct. But you're correct for most projects you should use material to zero. Since we're using multiple boards in known locations it's a special case.

      I didn't use tabs mainly because the time, wear and tear on the bit, and since I'm only holding each board by two screws the tabs would really be critical to hold things together. It mainly comes down to personal preference. Thanks again!

    Great video. Where can you get those yellow mounting screw hole plugs you got there? The small ones on the inside.

      Thanks! I found them on thingiverse.com and printed them myself. Search onefinity when you go there and you'll find them easily.

    why dont you use a backing board on your table when your cutting through the job ?

    This may be a silly question, but how do you do the horizontal score lines between the lanterns. I'm using Vcarve desktop and cant figure it out.

    • @ZamoraWoodWorking
      @ZamoraWoodWorking  2 года назад

      Just make a line, do a profile cut on it either on, below, or above depending on where you put the line. Then in your tool path select your depth. Good luck!

    How do you sand off the tabs since they are such small cutouts? Do you use a file?

    • @ZamoraWoodWorking
      @ZamoraWoodWorking  2 года назад +1

      I use a roto zip. I show that in the next video.

      Just the one ordered off the Onefinity website. Seems like the coloring changes depending on when you ordered.

    Why do you need a space between the parts? : )

    • @ZamoraWoodWorking
      @ZamoraWoodWorking  2 года назад

      If you’re talking about the space between each board (horizontal space) that was because of the variation of board width. And the degree to which I marked my spoil board with known distances to reference, that is needed when making the gcode. You could place the boards closer together, but you’d have to mark more on the dollar spoil board, and edit the code for each batch. Even with putting them together you don’t gain enough to add another board so I decided to space them out if that makes sense.

    How much do you sell each lantern for?

      1 for $20, 3 for $50 worked in my market. Have to see what your local market will bare.

    Here's a link to the file. Seems that once I posted this video plenty of copy cats made clones and put them up for sale on Etsy, so any support is highly appreciated!
