I’ve always used baking soda and lemon juice and mix together to clean my gold and it’s leaves nice and polish doesn’t scratch or damage anything.

U could have add more solution and let it sit. Stirring them together would cause some small scratches

I was taught this 50 years ago. On your metal sink, wet your jewellery then pour soda bicarb on it all, add more water, leave for half and hour, then rub each piece with fingers, rinse then dry. You didn't give it a chance ro work. Whats the hurry? You leave it to do its work, not force it to work when it will already work - if you just let it be. Forget the fuss. Its hardly shocking.
