I just wanted to say that you did a really great job with this video! You are organized, well-spoken, clear, and to-the-point. No "uhhhhhhh” or repeating yourself, which drives me nuts. LOL Thanks for the great video; LOVE that it's earth-friendly. 😀
Thank you so much for this simple and effective solution. I tried this with my gold plated necklace and real gold necklace. It got rid of all the tarnish within a minute or so. Admittedly the gold plated jewellery isn’t as gold as before but it’s better than looking black! And the gold necklace looks brand new
Ok, so I got up, followed your instructions and wa-la. Thank you so much. I'd taken all my Brighten, which isn't silver (I have a lot of Tiffany I'm going to do this with)...to a jeweler. He "threw" it into some vat and I thought ruined it all! It was gunky, rough, brown, basically unwearable. So, nothing to lose. I had to do a few longer because due to Covid they didn't get any wear. But, even though Brighten "isn't real" it's fashionable, not cheap, and I wanted to restore it. I also left some charms on one necklace and the gems were fine. THANK you. I'm sharing this!!!
Was surprised that this actually worked. Did my silver and gold, and they look great. Had a pair of gold hoop earrings I hadn’t worn in years because they looked terrible. Now they’re like new again. Thanks
I just used this method to remove the tarnish from the Celtic/elven headpiece I wore for my wedding. It worked really well, which I'm thrilled about! I was worried the headpiece was unsalvageable, but now it looks like new!
I buy a lot of sterling silver jewelry. I found out if you keep pieces in individual plastic bags (I use Ziploc sandwich bags) It will keep your jewelry from oxidizing. It's not exposed to air/oxygen. This saves me a lot of time having to clean it on regular bases.
You are correct. I worked for Tiffany & Co. at their sterling silver manufacturing plant in Rhode Island. Once completed, all silver jewelry items are stored in plastic bags until it is ready to be put on sale. They use small poly bags, the smallest size that the item can fit in then they push as much air out as they can when they bag the piece. I have found that I can accomplish the same thing by tightly wrapping an item in plastic wrap. The less air the better. I would also like to point out that the anti tarnish felt and suede bags do NOT work. This is why Tiffany's and others don't use them for long term storage. I found this out the hard way when I opened up boxes of Tiffany jewelry after years of storage and found them all dark with tarnish.
I just want to say thank you! This worked amazingly for me after I made the mistake of letting some jewelry soak in cleaning solution for to long. It looked like it had been burnt but this cleared it off in seconds. Thank you again!!!
this was awesome!!! i just got some Jewellery off ebay that had fire burn all over it and followed this clip and 10mins later you wouldnt even know it was the same piece so simple but so effective THANK YOU
This has totally made my day! I've had so many tarnished chains and some pendants and this saved me! Thanks so much for making this tutorial! I hope this works with earrings too!
I have been struggling with this for many years I tried everything. Nothing has worked for me Tried yours and my jewelry is so clean and beautiful Thank you so much. You are wonderful
This is by FAR the most helpful video I’ve found. And I’ve looked. I find it much more useful when you know how the INGREDIENTS actually WORK together to achieve your goal. Especially for a DIY in which I’d rather save jewelry than create a curtain. Thank You!!
This method actually works pretty well. I recommend if you have rings or something that after you've cleaned them put some clear nail polish to keep them looking nice!
Thank you so much! This is absolutely amazing...i have a pandora bracelet and it was almost black it was so tarnished i did this added at tad more baking soda and more hot water and boom shiny and new again! So glad i found this video
I see you did this video back in 2012 ! Wow...let me tell you , your advice is ...timeless ! I have gone to Yard Sales, and Thrift Stores and bought Jewelry that I was 95% certain was Sterling Silver and would take them home to clean. Not always a simple task if they have been tarnished a long time . But this remedy works great !!! Thank you for the video and the time it took you to make it !
It’s now 2022!😳😂 this cleaning method still works. I put salt, & liquid soap w/ baking soda. Anyways.. I bought a silver add a bead cuff bracelet for $5 ! One bead cost more than that! It wasn’t even really that dirty.. However, cleaned it up, and I wear w/ a small silver bracelet that I never take off unless I clean them. I can’t believe the jewelry at our flea market here in Raleigh NC! Wish I had a friend that liked yard sales. I won’t go alone. Do you?
First try didn't work for me. However, I made sure the water was boiling (instead of just hot) and also pushed a small 2ndary piece of alumninum foil on top of the jewelry and it worked. Came out almost like new!
Thank you for your straightforward video. I have several pieces of sterling silver jewelry that are tarnished and need cleaning. I’m going to try your technique tomorrow. I also have a sterling silver and Malachite Cross pendant that is tarnished. Also read a tip about storing my sterling silver jewelry in plastic baggies (& to squeeze air out).
Thanks so much for the advice, I have lots of very tarnished silver I don't wear because of the tarnish. You are as pretty as your jewellry. Thanks again.
Thank You! This is so helpful and inexpensive. I have a piece that was given to me years ago by my daughter's father that is very special. I found it years after I thought I had lost it, but very tarnished. Now I can give it to her, looking beautiful as the day I got it. Thank You! :))
thank you so much ...I will be doing this easy method anytime to Brighton my silver jewelry Amazing outcome as if I just walked out of the store with a brand new silver bracelet
One video I watched on this subject said to use vinegar as well. What do you think about that? I liked how you added the brush step to work the solution into the chain. This was super helpful. Thanks!
This was fantastic it help loads. I thank you for the video excellent!!!! my friends jewellery was black she asked me to save it I didn't think it was possible.....but it came out brand spanking new!!! 😆 thanks x

Thank you for this amazing tip, especially coming from someone who knows about jewelry. I have so many beautiful pieces of custom jewelry that needed to be clean. If you could tell me how to best store these pieces. I have my custom jewelry necklaces hanging on a rack in my room, but I notice, they get dirty and tarnished. Thank you!!!
I kind of wanted to see the jewelry that was in there, not the piece that was already ok to begin with but I will definitely give this a try. Thank you
Hey ladies I need help! I have a bracelet with little glass beads that turned yellow over time. How can I clean that so it can be crystal clear again? I will subscribe I promise!!
Toothpaste Colgate is one brand you can use usually people use the white but all this other stuff is making something harder when it’s easy/simply to clean stainless steel and gold
I tried this with my pandora ring, I went swimming with school and forgot to take it off I was devastated I tried this it didn't fully work but I can see an improvement
Thank you so much!your experience was really helpful! And your video was just perfect to understand how you supposed to do it step by step , so understand things like this dont read those bad comments people left they just slow to understand things like this.thanks again!
Does this menthod work with Vivienne Westwood silver orb pendant necklaces? I want to make sure it won't ruin the necklace even more if I tried to clean the tarnish from it. 😣
Her voice is so calm and nice to listen too. I didn't mind watching the whole 6 minute video. Thanks for the tip, now time to boil some water.
I just wanted to say that you did a really great job with this video! You are organized, well-spoken, clear, and to-the-point. No "uhhhhhhh” or repeating yourself, which drives me nuts. LOL Thanks for the great video; LOVE that it's earth-friendly. 😀
I have watched 5 videos before this one and she was the most articulate, clear on everything and easy to understand.
Thanks so much for your kind words and for watching!

Yes, I go alone. I love yard sales and second hand stores.
