OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have a really old ring made of sterling silver and a huge teardrop amethyst... I did this and WOO HOO!!!! It looks new!!!!! I didn't want to scrub like you were saying you didn't want to do earlier, especially between the tiny little 'teeth' surrounding the stone, the leaves, and the little swirls of 'Ivy'. I didn't have powder laundry soap but used powder (dishwasher) dish detergent... Stirred, dropped it in and held my breath. lol It wasn't even in there ten seconds, and I could see it shining!! I pulled it out, rinsed it, dried it off with a soft cloth and it looks like I just bought it last week! THANK YOU THANK YOU
Thank you for the SUPER positive comment - so pleased that you are happy with this way of cleaning your valuables. Certainly my favourite method I’ve found.
OMG! Thank you for this information! I use soap pods instead of laundry powder, so I put a healthy squirt of Dawn dishwashing liquid into the bowl instead. Within five seconds I could see a huge difference in my tarnished sterling silver jewelry! I appreciate how laid back you were with the amount of each "ingredient". No measuring. Yay!
It worked beautifully! Thank you! I have three Pandora bracelets and one is full of charms. But I shook and moved them around on the bracelet and everything came clean. I really appreciate you taking the time to showing us how to do it.
This is amazing. You were forever, getting comments, especially if someone like myself tarnished their bracelets by putting it in hot water and baking soda. I freaked out and then I thought let me go to RUclips. Thank you. It worked. I followed your instructions completely. I didn’t have to leave mine in the water long at all less than one minute until my eyes the silver is shiny.
Wow, that is amazing. I just cleaned my Pandora bracelet and other silver jewel that I was getting ready to donate. I got new jewelry again thank you so much. 2:56
Thank you... Fluked your post and became interested cuz my grandaughter's silver necklace & bracelet is at the jewelrer to undergo some cleaning.. I'll share this vid to her so can look after her jewelry pieces... thanks again
It works… I used Dawn dish soap instead. My Pandora bracelet got tarnished during house cleaning. I even threw my wedding ring in them to see what it did. And it came out very clean.
I just have to say a massive thank you I thought that I had ruined my Pandora bracelet and charms when I got a chemical on them but did this and they look so much better not as shiny at they used to be but I dont mind thats my fault for not being more careful
Thanks, I have two Pandora bracelets and a necklace. Unfortunately silver reacts with my skin and tarnishes very quickly, particularly the necklace. I will give this a go.
Wow it really works!! I've just followed your video step by step and hey presto!! I've got a lovely sparkly Pandora bracelet again🤩 looks brand new, thank you soooo much for sharing your video😁
Fantastic! Do you know of any materials that would be harmed by this process? Like gemstones, glass, or other metals that may be part of the silver piece being cleaned? If so, how would you modify the process?
Hey there, this method isn’t great with yellow gold, you will need to leave out the detergent as it is can lead to the gold going slightly black. It will need wiping afterwards. You will be safe will other materials thought. Sorry for the slow response.
@Noel Schwartz I'm sorry to disagree with Rob, but some things must absolutely not be cleaned this way. Real pearls, enamel & some gemstones can be damaged by immersion in water alone, never mind the added chemicals. Also, plain sterling silver should be rinsed with clean water after cleaning as residue left behind can cause damage.
@@LouisaDeCarvalho-Heineken oh thanks , I have a good cleaner from the store I use, I meant I have never owned silver before so this is helpful . Interesting about the gold tho so salt cleans it ? I also heard the more you wear your silver the less it tarnishes ?
@@lorabuddyandrob2290 thanks super excited ! I bought another one as silver is so affordable . My gold bangle was thin and hollow so broke after just a few wears and cost so much :( I just fear it tarnishing so hope that doesn’t occur.
@@lorabuddyandrob2290 ive seen quite a few ladies in a pandora group I'm in that have ended up with some very shiny charms after using the aluminium foil method but no darkened defined oxidising like on the charms originally, maybe they left the charms in too long, and needing to reoxidise (chemical or egg method) or wait a very long time for original darkened sections to return. 🤷🏼♀️
@@bricknan my concern using this method is the salt. I am wondering if the bracelet should have been rinsed in warm water and dried to make sure there is nothing still on the bracelet as the salt may corrode the silver. Also can you use this method if the charms have stones in them?
I’m going to try this I just watched another video where I boiled the dawn soap and a little baking soda but it’s still not cleaned mines was pretty tarnished and filthy! Will I damage anything if I try this method after doing the other method?
@Julie Fiedler I saw where someone said they used liquid dish soap instead of the detergent & it worked for them. So, I'd say it's worth trying. I only have liquid detergent too
I have been using this method for years on my wife’s and friend’s jewellery. I have never had an issue. However if overdone it is possible to remove the oxidation.

Be careful doing this as it will take the oxidation off the details on the charms which should be darker

i thought you cant get salt on these bracelets as it ruins the braclet chemically. that's why they say not to use it in the ocean.
Thank you so much 😊

Okay, but can you usee it on charms with enamel, wouldnt this harm the enamel?
I have used this method many time on our bracelets and many of the charms are enamelled. I haven’t had any issues at all.

Will it work on gold too?
Hey Jacanory. It will work on gold but please leave out the detergent.
