I would rinse off the soapy water after scrubbing. And I always dry chains like that in front of a fan so they get thoroughly dry. If they dry slowly, sometimes the verdigris comes right back.
Does it really? Wow Megan! I didn’t know it could come right back. I dry my jewelry in front of fans immediately too. That tip about the spray oil is a good one.
Soap and water is great for your average dirt. I always use penetrating oil to clean verdigris. Oil doesn't hurt the gems, and protects the metal. It is found in the automotive department. It usually comes in a spray can, so you can spray a piece and leave it to soak overnight, then wipe off the verdigris. I use q-tips to get into the tiny spaces. There are pointed q-tips for sale as well that are convenient for tiny spaces. A soft bristle tooth brush is great too.
I had the very same ultra sonic cleaning machine. It quit working, as in quit vibrating, after 6 months of use. I believe it has a 1 year warranty, so I have to send it in to the manufacturer. It is past the return date for Amazon, where I bought it.
Watching this video spike my interest. I decided and, bought this unit. Love it!!! Cleans so good and, gives restored new life to dull dirty jewelry. Thank you for sharing this video.
1:09 What kind of glasses? Eyeglasses? OK, you convinced me. This is the first ultrasonic jewelry cleaner that looks to be effective. I just ordered a Magnasonic jewelry cleaner from your link.
I just cleaned verdigris from a similar gold tone Trifari chain yesterday, using ketchup and a LOT of scrubbing, while wondering if I should invest in an ultrasonic cleaner. Thank you for the demo!! Something I found very helpful for removing the verdigris from the tight areas of the chain was a few cotton tipped microblading swabs.
Great video since I have no experience with the ultrasonic cleaner. I do wonder how it would work for a vintage necklace on thread. I found out you can not soak or get too wet because the thread breaks. I was surprised how much water was used. I thought just a few tablespoons, so again thank you. I have learned so much from you in general, and I am 71 years old and have been working with jewelry for over 20 years. Your time management skills impress me too. I remember having energy. LOL
Magnasonic, not Mega sonic. It's printed right on the front of the device. Nice video. Regular dish soap (like Dawn), alcohol/hand sanitizer, and water. The ratio doesn't matter. Just water, with some soap, and some alcohol.👍

Nice video, Rachel! I just purchased an ultrasonic cleaner a couple weeks ago. What a timesaver!

Yes eye glasses l. Sorry!
I have heard verdigris called “jewelry ick,” like the fish disease, because it is contagious.
Ick! Lol

Interesting! Thank you!
What are those??? I can’t wait to look those up. Anything that can help with cleaning jewelry, I’m in! Lol.
Amazon, cotton tipped microblading swabs. I bought 500 for $5.19. They are bigger than a toothpick, smaller than a cotton swabs.

Thank you so much! 🥰
Avon actually sells jewelry that is sterling silver. Ive bought some in the past but I can’t remember how it’s marked like if it’s 925 ect or not
Yeah this one might be plated.
What about adding vinegar to the water.
That is an interesting point!
wonderful
Thank you
In my experience, ultrasonic can loosen in-set stones. I would not use if they do not have prongs.
Is there a way to fix the gold tone lose?
There's no sound
Try playing again, sometimes it does that when recently uploaded
It's working now, thank you!
