Mom was in a panic (groceries getting warm) while Dad casually got under the Jeep w/ his small tool bag and came out w/ the driveshaft. All of my tools were at my daughter's house an hour away, and I just wanted to get this thing done. Nothing went right, because of course, I did not have my tools with me lol. I got so frustrated and had to walk away because I did not want to borrow tools off of anyone LOL. I don't care who you are, it happens to the best of us. Just Keep On Truckin because you are one of the best and I'm not trying to blow fire up your ass either LOL.
Really LIKE your channel and your approach to problem solving! Little suggestion for these side-by-sides that you have to retrieve with broken suspension - have a wide 3rd plank that is longer than the two main ramps, install it in the middle then winch the vehicle up. As you go the third middle plank will lift the middle of the rig and help with not having to drag that suspension in the dirt. On the trailer end of the middle plank, have it extend higher than the bed of the trailer then have a box made for the rig to drop onto and sit on for the ride back .........Then again, maybe I'm just full of it. Keep up the good work Matt and crew!!
Cooling: For those that don't know this trick...when your engine cooling cannot keep up with the engine heat...turn on your interior cabin heat to High and hot. Your car interior heater will extract heat from your engine the same way your radiator extracts heat from your engine.
What's up with that hat??!?!?!? TOTALLY awesome!!!! Hopefully that can be fit back into the merch rotation. As far as breaking things.....if you aren't , you aren't having any fun, or learning. Obviously Matt and his crew have many many many years of experience doing these things. Thank you all @ matts off road recovery....keep up the fun, and the hard work!!!
Looks like it’s time for some chromoly axles in the Jeep. How hot the old girl get though I heard a little tapping. Great video. Randy you should have handy the camera off and took over the recovery let Matt have a little break.
its better to have the u joints be the weak point than pushing the weak link back into the axles or the rest of the drive train. I have shattered a few front u joints but they never leave me stranded
If you build it right there won’t be a weak link. He’s only running 35s. I been building rock trucks since early 2000s. Spend the money and do it right Only running little 35s should be know issue you survive run I joints with no zero fittings. And I pretty sure he said when it broke it broke the ears off the shafts.
I apologize if this has been discussed somewhere in the 800 plus comments but I was really worried about your brown dog. The dog was looking for shade while you loaded the rig and then continued to run along with the truck heading back. I was really worried that it was going to overheat. They have a great time helping you do your recoveries and watching them is great fun. Now that you are a star on RUclips maybe the dogs can have their own air conditioned vehicle. :-). Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
I love Lady and Max. They must be so fit with all that running. I do fear when I see them close to moving vehicles but I guess they know what they are doing. Good to see such happy dogs 😃
Your "3 wheel drive" is still better than most, since you've got a rear locker. A lot of 4x4s with open diffs are really 2 wheel drive. 3 wheel drive and your experience - piece of cake.

Heh. Kind of sounds like what I always say to my wife while driving. I'm not lost, I'm just not where I want to be. There's a lot of truth to that statement when you think about it when you know an area pretty well. I'd also agree, you were definately having an off day.🙂
I'm not lost , I'm just not sure where I am . Not necessarily an oxymoron . You could very well know you are bounded by know roads or terrain features in known locations , just not sure of your exact location within .
It is never a dull moment doing the type of recovery work you do. Stress can be a factor. It can be a challenge but I think a cut and dry operation would not fulfill the inner dynamic that drives you anyway.
Why ruin a good truck I have one a 1990 great rig hauled and pulled a lot. if I was going to make a roll back use that ugly new jeep truck. now I am looking for the earlier jeep truck and a cj5 or cj7 hate computer controlled vehicles the newest rig I have is a 1997 and it goes to a mechanic when it has problems. All the others I can work on no scan tool needed
Let's be honest here, A "3 wheel drive" Jeep is a lot more capable than some of these so-called off-road worthy Vehicles you can purchase nowadays. I was never a Jeep guy before but once I got into the one I just bought I totally understand why they have such a following and am now definitely a believer...or Jeeper what ever the term.

@@randytravis3998 he was using a remote on the winch.. i think he was being cautious and maintaining the position by the wheel well where it is safest if the cable snaps or the vehicle moves unexpectedly... he can always hug the wheel and go under the trailer if it tries to flip off or if the cable snaps.
@@sheldonrunkey6160 I ment a hand controller like a key fob. The wire one limits his range .. A budy has one can be in the car steering and brakes while doing the control.. Makes life easy no wires to snag..
@@randytravis3998 you mean a "wireless receiver" that doesn't have a cord and relies on batteries? I think the obvious is they are unreliable and with continuous use would be extremely expensive for someone like him to replace batteries. Even if they were rechargeable.
Bad days suck! Randy has done another fine job of filming and the ending using the drone was beautiful!
I think you need a solid ramp for these broken side by side recoveries. Or carry a sheet of plywood it can scrape up on it's way in.
Notice how the side by side is on the trailer with the ramps he has......
Hey Brother, I had a day like that on Saturday. I've been a Carpenter for almost 28 years and I had the most simple job of doing a mailbox across the street.
By the way, I have a feeling you are going to Fab up a solid roll out ramp for these particular recoveries. I don't know, what do you think?
@@everettbrown9235 about four pieces of p.s.p. ought to do it.
My day has been made!!! 👍🏻🇺🇸 Much love from Wyoming!!
and you smiled the whole time, that's the right attitude!
Incredible scenery. Must be great to work in that everyday.
The bad days make you appreciate the good ones more! Thanks for sharing!
My new favorite quote: "thats exactly how we did it this time"
Really LIKE your channel and your approach to problem solving!
Replacement fan belt, way back in the day ladies tights came in handy!
@@Mrfort been there. Done that. Lol
He's not allowed to since he doesn't work for the tow company
its better to have the u joints be the weak point than pushing the weak link back into the axles or the rest of the drive train.
Robert K rck trucks arent doing what he is doing
Jon Meray how do you know what I do with my rig.
Off-road recovery is like landing an airplane. Any one that you can walk away from is a good one.
I thought the point of Recovery was Driving out , and walking out was defeat .
We are all just human, point is you got the job done and no one was hurt in the process.👍
Some days, dinner and bedtime can't come fast enough.
EricsArchive or a beer and a cigar
I love Lady and Max. They must be so fit with all that running. I do fear when I see them close to moving vehicles but I guess they know what they are doing. Good to see such happy dogs 😃
Your "3 wheel drive" is still better than most, since you've got a rear locker. A lot of 4x4s with open diffs are really 2 wheel drive. 3 wheel drive and your experience - piece of cake.
Your dogs have an awesome life hanging out with you!
The dogs have generously forgiven Matt for damaging their Jeep.
Matt, I just want to say..I really appreciate your calmness..in the short amount of time as a fan, I can honestly say it is refreshing .you seem to not get frazzled, even in frazzling situations. I'm am so very glad to have found this channel. I love watching. Thank you!
That's an ouchie when ya get back to the rental place without the rental
some days are smoother than others!! thanks for posting i enjoy getting out with you!!
“Never toy with your tow rig”. Words I heard years ago.
You are never lost if you know where you are, even if it isn't where you want to be at that time.
an old boss once told me "sometimes your the bug and sometimes your the windsheild"
So true, I've met the windshield and splatted a few times in my 79 years.
Sometimes you eat the Bear , sometimes the Bear eats you .
Good job Matt & Randy...despite the difficulties. 😊 We all get our share of “bad days”.😊👍👍🇦🇺🦘
I can’t tell if Matt and Randy are friends or if Matt hates him. Always seems like weird interactions between them.
I felt the same thing about Eric and Matt
Nothing kills your Jeep! Great job getting the job done despite a broken Jeep!
Did anyone ever turn a Jeep Commanche into a rollback for rescuing ATVs and Side by sides ? That would be interesting.
An old Bell 206 helicopter with a 1,500 pound lift hook would do all his ATV rescues in Record time!
Same frame as a Cherokee , for better or worse .
Sorry you had a crappy day. For what its worth - it was entertaining for me to watch you deal with those challenges so thank you!
We will let you slide today lol had fun watching. Just feel like a broken part should be quickly fixed for safety thank you for all you do !!!!!
Seems like many trailer tow jobs would go much quicker with a full width ramp.
Or at least a third one.
A tandem commercial lawn mower or motorcycle trailer with a full drop down ramp gate. He would have been out of there in 5 minutes.
The whole idea out there is to save weight. A full length ramp would be quadruple the weight.
@@yourangerfuelsme Quadruple? 200# full WIDTH in steel tube and expanded metal. Pretty sure that trailer weighs more than 50# just saying. I would think the whole idea would be easy/safer loading of Can am with busted Control arm. After loading the first one with three wheels id be doing some welding in the yard sooner than later. Make do with what you got till you have better!!!!
@@lbcontractor You're actually a dumbass.... THE RAMP WOULD BE 4 TIMES THE WEIGHT OF THE CURRENT RAMP SETUP HE USES....
We all have those days. Then I remind myself, it’s not a job, it’s an adventure. It’s the trip, not the destination. I’m thankful we are still alive, wake up every morning and go do what we want and need to do. You’ll never appreciate the good days without some rough days, and tough days are ok.
