I have an 03 mustang GT with a 94 lincoln mark viii motor in it and a cobra intake and exhaust manifold and cold air intake, making close to 300rwhp. This setup is really nice and clean.
The rattle is probably the muffler bearing. When you drive it hard, they tend to fail on you and make a scratching rattling sound. I recently had to replaced both of mine. 9:32

That's what the engine was rated for from the factory at the flywheel when it was in the Lincoln it came in. Very respectable for wheel hp with a 22 yr old engine.

It is because of the poor heads and Intake killing it. It's a Mark8 Intech motor, stock they were rated in the 280's at the crank."The 4.6 L V8 produced 280 hp (210 kW) @ 5500 rpm and 285 lb⋅ft (386 N⋅m) of torque @ 4500 rpm and required premium grade 91-octane fuel for optimum performance". The cobra's of the same era were only rated at 305 crank hp. The 03-04 were rated at 400/400 with a super charger on them. But they were build to handle way more......so most of them got WAY more, lol. My 04 was 553hp at the tire with just a supercharger upgrade, and supporting mods. I had a 93 Mark 8 back in the early 2000's and it was a very nice car but was like a luxury Cobra, was not setting any records that is for sure.
Thank you for putting the right gear in that 4v. I went through 4.10s, 4.30s and 4.56s in my mach1... 4.56s were the gear that felt 'right'. When I got my marauder, that was the first mod - and it was glorious :D
@@dd859 even with a 4.56 your theoretical top speed is somewhere in the 185mph range, long after you run out of power. I had the mach to 166mph, backed out due to that platform feeling like it was never designed to go that fast... Lol

I forgot just how far Ford was behind when the LS was introduced and how much of an improvement the Coyote was. I had a 4th gen Camaro back in the day with a Hypertech tune before HP Tuners and EFI Live was available running 12.7 through stock manifolds with just an air lid 3.73s 3600 stall and exhaust. Awesome build though, excuse my lack of Ford knowledge but would a 5.4 32 valve be a better NA swap than the 4.6?
Most F-bodies were making 275 at the crank before the LS . The LT5 ZR1 was making power though, 50% more power. ZR1's also cost twice as much. It may be a fitment issue. 5.4 has taller heads. Notoriously crappy motor. Unless it's out of a Ford GT. I personally like 4 valve per engines and high rpms.
Did use the 2v MAF sensor or did you buy a cobra maf? I basically did the exact same sway as you on this car but mine runs better without the MAF sensor plugged in, all I have is a SCT tune on it just trying to figure out what to do with the MAF sensor
So I'm sure I'll come off like a dumbass but I looked on here as well as other sources about what's needed to swap an old Mark engine into a New Edge but only get "just swap the plug polarities and you're good", is that really all that you have to do? Bought a 01 4v and shopping around for a good shell (got it for next to nothing as my neighbor was taking the car to the scrap from a tbone) and wanted to know what's up for just a basic swap.
2700-2800 was what my Mach did at around 75-80. I had a t56 with the .62 OD gear. They are not bad at all, most people hear 4.56s and act like it'll go 5500rpm on the freeway and top speed is 88mph.
I have a 2000 GT mustang that has a Mach 1 engine in it out of a 03 Mach 1 when it is at a idle it runs good but when you start to pull out it starts missing at 3000 rpms she runs great at around 6000 rpms it starts missing again what do I do with this thing

That one is a customers car. It has a m122 gt500 blower. It’s definitely a cool car. Sometimes I hold off on filming some things though because sometimes the owners don’t want it on RUclips.
Interestingly enough, if measured at the crank, I'm sure that 279rwhp comes out close to if not more than 305hp, accounting for power loss through the drivetrain. It's very impressive stuff for what is effectively a stock Mark VIII with headers, a 5 speed, and a tune. Hmm.

The 4v motors are notorious for not putting out big peak numbers... but they have a very nice and long powerband - often with 2 peaks, so you're around max hp for a good 2000 rpm. Top end power is robbed by the foot+ long runner intake and 380 lift factory cams... Imagine a 4.8 LS with a truck intake and 380 lift cam... lol

My mach has 456s and I stay under 70 mph, lol it puts me around 3200rpm at least

The MK VIII engine doesnt have as much compression as a stock Cobra. Thats why you didn't hit the stock figure of 305hp/300tq.
