Mdina is a tiny city and used to be Malta's capital until 1530. It has currently only 300 inhabitants, is quite manageable, and may be visited in a half day. Its history describes the history of Malta: first populated by the Phoenicians, then by the Romans, the Byzantines, the Arabs, and the Sicilians.
