Hello so I would love to give my inside perspective on Blue Lagoon especially if you want to visit it! Book a Day Cruise with Hera Cruises! I went with Hera Cruises and also went on a snorkelling trip and got 2 completed different experiences. With Hera Cruises, you get food and drink provided with your cruise. You get 2 stops along the journey and they have snorkelling gear on ship (though I recommend you bring your own)! When we got docked at Blue Lagoon there is a ladder for you to jump on and off the ship into the water and it is full of fish! The water is clear and amazing. When we went on a snorkelling trip a few days later well... the boat dropped us off on the island and we set off. The beach is tiny and overcrowded! The water is filled with rubbish and people! The only way to get better conditions is risking it walking down a rocky cliffside. When I did this, I slipped and got injured. It is high risk and not safe. Back on the rubbish, on the island there is lots of pineapples that are rotting and causing a smell... why? Well it is due to people throwing them all over the place after drinking out of them. Blue Lagoon unfortunately is a tourist trap... If you want a good experience, I recommend a day cruise so you actually get more safety, space and opportunity! Blue Lagoon is still beautiful but it is overpriced and a tourist trap if you don't plan ahead of time and stick to the spots where most people go. Comino, Golden Bay, St Julians, Silema are all much safer and better places to go if you want to snorkel and stay away from the masses of tourist traps!
We have a planned trip to Malta in October. Thanks for the tips. I am still wondering what the best way to travel around the island- Bold, buses or hire a car. What would you recommend to get the best feel of the place.
@kahinakhamache6500 Great Question! When we went, we spent a lot of our time walking. We got a Ferry at Silema to get to Valletta which was nice and you got to see some views in the short journey. Valletta has a lovely collection if open churches, restaurants, shops and a war museum which I highly recommend. There are plenty of buses to take you around the island too but if you do venture further across, a taxi every do often would be helpful.
Hi hello thank you for sharing this video i feel this with you and i hope someday i will visit in Malta, new friend sending love and support from Philippines.
Hi Orland, thank you very much. I hope that one day you can too - I know you will love it. My wife and I really want to visit Philippines one day as well (I’d love to this year if possible)
Thank you for providing some great advice on sightseeing. The pizza at Sotto was good but far from the best wood fired pizzas the world can offer. The turamisu was dry and well below average. For a good tiramisu primer, try Happy restaurant in London :)
You’re welcome! I agree about the pizza, but have to say the tiramisu I personally had was absolutely delicious and rivalled those I’ve tried in Florence, Bologna and even Rome. Will give Happy restaurant a try though!
Thanks for watching! Oh really? That’s why it’s so important to always try things for yourself - who knows, maybe next time I try Maltese bread I’ll love it too haha 😅

Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. My God it's to die for. Fresh ftira is soooooo delicious too 😋😋. The bread they give you in restaurants cannot compare AT ALL believe me. That bread is dry and unpleasant.

Best things about Malta/Gozo are the weather and the views. Worst things are the public transport, the abandoned new builds gong to ruin, the constant building works, the beautiful old building going to ruin, the Maltese drivers. Definitely don’t come in high season unless you want to be part of the ‘sheeple masses’ in the towns and on every packed beach (beaches are jam-packed from May).
