The reason why minoxidil is used for hair growth is when using minoxidil as vasodilator, they found it encourages bodily hair growth in those people. It can encourage hair growth anywhere on body which have hair follicles by increasing blood circulation. But during pregnancy, it can effect development of fetus and very limited study of minoxidil on pregnant women. So it's precautionary.
