Although aluminum probably would have made for a lighter weight option than steel, but is that's what ya got...

the plastic shroud protrudes and buttons poke through it. I thought about mentioning it, but it's not as free as their hub... it just muddied the waters and would have taken away from the story for quite a while to say "not really the same thing" lol but I do like where your head's at
So long as you paint/bondo/wrap over all the sins, it doesn't matter how garbage it looked when you first made it. Also maybe a different (thinner strip) tape might work better for the wrap.
I bought the C5 in Jan. and love it except the wheel size. I have been thinking about cutting the spokes and doing the same to a larger wheel with some overlap to bolt them together. I've searched the innerweb and haven't found anyone who has tried this. Wish me luck.

I'd be too scared of botching it myself, but you could also put tabs on the cut off wheel too, so you can screw it back on if you ever need to have a smaller wheel again.... but you'd have to have cut into the leather.... hmmm.... have you considered trying to disassemble it?

I'm not kidding when I say gaming wheels are expensive. So I made my own out of Lego. Xbox controller for the wheel and handbrake. While the keyboard is for the gas brake and clutch

What I mean is, when you export from automation, you used to be able to change the code to make it a "fifthwheel" hitch, but now that doesn't work (since the truck updates). I would never be able to drive it as I dont have a working computer no more, and I don’t have any money I could give you for taking on this project. If you do, I will never be able to state my gratitude, cause quite frankly, it would be a dream to see the car be made in any way, let alone my idea on wheels. I’m not sure how possible this is, due to getting models, but if you can get the models and can mold them to you’re liking, I think it’s real possible. If you take this on, due give it a custom front and rear bumper still similar to stock but fitting for this car (venom gt style, if you get what i mean with that)
I do wanna say for details for stats on this. Over a thousand horsepower, big ol tires, supercharged. Generally just make it like a hennessey venom killer. The antidote as a name maybe?

Your can actually do the same with the Moza ES wheel, its would need a bit of adjustment to fit around the buttons but its also a 6 bolts pattern

it would probably attach with a normal splined steering column, plus it's a very 3D wheel centre, so probably not as good to use modern factory wheels
