I've been eyeballing the Cammus C5. If they had the C5 with a reasonably priced load cell pedals, I'd probably upgrade my system.

Well their “coming-soon” load cell pedals are also aggressively cheap, but you could run anyone else’s pedals (just not Logitech’s).

A way to mod T3PA (thrustmaster pedal) brake is to just wedge a bounce ball into the brake pedal against the original brake mod back plate. It honestly good for how cheap and how little hassle it had.
And it looks like i may have a chance to work here.
It gives more resistance to the brake and it feels different to the end if travel.

“Your connection is not secure” warnings aren’t bad at all. It just means anyone on your wifi network can see the contents of the network traffic going from your pc to their server, which isn’t a big deal at all unless you’re entering credentials or other sensitive info.
Oh and the smartscreen popup is most likely because the exe isn’t signed properly or at all which does kinda make sense i think that costs money don’t take my word on that tho but it’s fairly common. Windows smartscreen doesn’t defend you from any viruses at all unless it straight up blocks it and not allowing you to bypass it meaning its flagged as a virus. This is just like oh its not signed it could be harmful. Like the popup said itself it doesn’t recognize it so it’s not sure if it is or isnt.

I recently bought myself a t300 GT edition used for arround 200 Euros and sold the G29 I had and i love it in comparison but you have to have some technical knowledge. This is because the T300 likely overheats. You should upgrade the fan!. It has decent pedals (with clutch, upgraded pedals kinda T3PM with worse/weaker brake spring) compared to the C5. I have seen that you can buy a 20 euro usb adapter for the pedals so if I want to upgrade I can likely keep the pedals (if i get it resold without them). I really dont like having a clutch and Cammus shipping to my place (Germany) just wasnt worth it the additional price.
A minus for the t300 is that the Desk clamp kinda sucks so i had to improvise my own.
If anyone has questions considering if its worth to upgrade from G29 or what exactly i had to do feel free to ask me.

This wheel looks promising but they definitely need to adress some issues. For example both chrome and the windows antivirus kicking in for the driver freaks me out a bit. I read the comment that explains why it might be a thing but still that's a no no for me ngl.
But if they solve that issue my next upgrade might be buying their wheelbase, but not the pedals though. Not having a clutch is already a problem, and just based on how easily you could press down the brakes with your hand makes me believe buying a thrustmaster pedal set is the way to go.
    Cool video though, as always

For the price its great and the cheapest fanatec setup with a desk mount is 430€, but the main reason people get into fanatec is the eco system, with that 430€ setup there is an option to add a loadcell brake for 140€ later on or for 120€ if order it as a bunde, same goes with the 8nm boost kit, you can get that later on and get 3 more nm of torque for 150€ or for 100€ if you order it with the wheelbase.
The upgrade options are the main reason why i would want to get myself something from fanatec, i live in germany and i have a friend that had a very good experience with the support.
for moza the main problem i have heard is the shipping cost being very expensive and the R5 moza bundle is 500€ not including shipping.
with thrustmaster the price to get into the ecosystem on a DD is around 1k, i currently own a Thrustmaster TMX with around 2nm as a belt/gear wheel, sadly the TMX dosent have support for the quick release system from thrustmaster so i would have to pay 850€ for the DD and a new wheel rim.
The turtlebeach Velocity One Race is very interesting for 650€ as a bundle with a load cell but they dont currently have an eco system wich is a problem for some, i love drifting and D shaped wheels are usually not that good for drifting and not having the option to change the wheel on the Turtlebeach and the Cammus C5 is currently the main reason why i am not really considering both of them for myself
For most people having a low price to get into an ecosystem with alot of upgrades is great and currently the best thing about Fanatec and for console players fanatec is probably the best option if you dont want to run the wheel with 3rd party tools
    I love your videos ^^

I know we've advanced a good bit technology wise, but I would expect most things to ask for a reboot after installing drivers. Having drivers that constantly trigger Antivirus and websites with expired security certificates don't inspire a lot of confidence in the company's longevity. I'd hope that they could fix that so that it feels like they'll be around long enough to get better. at $330 USD for the whole kit It seems about on par with some entry level Logitechs... still a lot of cash either way and I feel like beginners would probably just grab a cheep ass Hori wheel for 200 or a bottom tier Logitech for a little more, so this feels a bit more intermediate which might put it against slightly higher budget targets.

Just a thing about the website and why the message is there. It's basicly saying its not encrypted so everything transmitted through that connection can be seen and potentially even be exchanged (from a hacker in wlan or your provider technicly). The certificat is basicly the thing that enables you and them to be authentifcated by a third party to establish a encrypted connection.
The exe is also similar in that they didn't sign it. Means they are not verified by a third party and windows therefore doesn't know if that is not a virus.
Both things can be a bit annoying to set up but the first should be relativly easy with "let's encrypt" the second should be much more hassle.

Just took a look at their US warehouse ("tax included") and the C5 bundle w/ pedals is $329 US. Sigh. For just a bit more there seems to be at least one other 5Nm combo... that *isn't* Fanantec. The very Moza R5 you showed in the diesel swap video is about $100 more and, given the swapable wheel, seems a better idea. But, I suppose, if one doesn't have that additional $100 lying around...
As for the rubber clamp pad... I would probably 3D print a TPU gasket that better buffers that.

Not trying to throw shade on your review but you shit on the Logitech way to hard the only thing the c5 has over the Logitech is torque and direct drive the pedals are trash no clutch the motor takes up way to much room from the wheel and you can’t upgrade the wheel. On the Logitech you have clutch options to change to an oversized wheel. I ran it for 2 1/2 years and had zero problems. And I’m betting that c5 has way more wheel oscillation you can just tell it’s a cheap design that is made to sound good. If you want a direct drive just get a r5 or an r9. Also fanitec is still A good product but customer service isn’t the best

    • @fillman86
      @fillman86  5 месяцев назад

it's true that the logitech isn't bad, but it has its issues, like noise and the gear feedback you get.
as for the centre size, unless you like to look through the wheel's gap to the centre, it actually don't effect it, in fact you tend to forget just how ugly this C5 is :P
True that these pedals don't have a clutch, and there's nothing I can say to that, other than I did show the number of pedals. I was also quite clear about how I was disappointed in the brake feel compared to the logitech ones
As for changing wheels on a logitech, you have to do some significant modifications to change it out (unless you're talking about the DD, but that's very different and unsupported). Changing the wheel on this seems like it's limited to their more expensive C12, or proper 15nm wheels. But the C5 is cheaper than a G932
my G920 was pretty good for 4 of the 7 years, and it served me well enough, but given the choice back then.... I'm not sure I'd choose the logitech. This wheel feels of similar build quality, and the forcefeedback is more powerful and so smooth (not as smooth as my Moza R9, but the difference isn't that big either).
As for Fanatec, I'd steer clear of them for now. Shipping issues, and what would be considered criminal acts in other countries aside, buy now before their buyout has happened, and corsair takes over. As many companies have shown recently, takeovers tend to be bad for the consumers :/
overall I'd say you have valid concerns, but my video was not false or even misleading, just different to what you expected?
