Ah, my mistake, I interpreted it as Daimyo and Shogun only. If all characters can ride it shouldn't the special rules say "any character" instead of General and Heroes? In which case why would you ever take a Daimyo? That kind of makes the Shugenja a bit too good by comparison, same problem as the Dwarf list. Limiting the Tatsu to Daimyos only seems logical to me. I must have projected my own thoughts onto the list by accident.
You are not far off at all - not to get in too deep but the balances of command choices was very much in the forefront and trying to make the Daimyo the “fighty” character option was explored and still somewhat lingers as the Shugenja doesn’t have the +1 attack. The major issue is needing a flying mount to keep a Shugenja up to speed with fliers and adding a low cost flying mount option with no attacks further pushes anti-magic character who can be anywhere on the board to try and stop magic. At least here there is an 80 point cost to do so.
Should the Honour and Duty rule be based on size of army? The +1 to break point is awesome for a 500 point game, but doesn't meant much in a 3000 point game. would make sense for it to be per 1000 points or something.
Hey do you know if Warmaster Ancient/Medieval has a FAQ place or community like Warmaster Revolution? Been trying to get into it more for the historical rules but running into some weird stuff, Like the Swiss who only get captains But get +1 command when in a unit? which seems useless as you don't give commands once you are in a unit? Do you know if there is any project like Revolutions for these? or some sort of community online?
I think that with the release of Cathay and Nippon, warmaster is kinda oversaturated with human factions, wonder who will be next? theres still Khuresh and Amazons in terms of human factions, but theres also Fimir, Vampire pirates, dragon islands lizardmen, halflings(tho they would probably work better as mercenaries) if we talk about more fantasy races and factions
Yes , the original version of the list did have the bretonnian special rule around break point. Only samurai counted for break. But it was too easy to exploit with samurai infantry hiding in woods all game. Hence the current rule instead.
Thanks for the great video. But this is my least favorite setting in Warhammer because they did nothing to even remotely hide that they straight up dropped Japan into the warhammer world. Its like that meme "Can I copy your homework" But they didn't even bother changing the name. Although this is great for anyone that wants to play Warmaster Historicals. ps. those Cromarty forge models were amazing!

Loving the releases!
Why no archers when samurai had some of the best archers around
pop culture
It's Warhammer Nippon, no Real World Japan...
I love your work❤
Thank you!
Great video Iain.
One quick clarification - A Shugenja can ride a tatsu as it is a hero just like the Daimyo.

Probably enough armies at this point
vampire coast could be an interesting faction bein undead but with a lot of options that shoot
Kinda similar to Bretonnia 🤔 probably why i like both of them
