    This is fascinating! I speak fluent Spanish, and most of the days of the week in that language also have identical etymology: martes (Tuesday) derived from Marte (Mars), which is the equivalent of the Norse god Tiu, from which the English word is derived, and so on. I find it very interesting and surprising that languages as unrelated as English, Spanish, and Japanese treat the days of the week so similarly! Arigatō!

    • @YukoSensei
      @YukoSensei  4 года назад +1

      We don't call others "anata" except for very limited situations. Calling "anata" can make you sound rude, arrogant or bossy, so I recommend you avoid it. Instead, use the person's name to say "you." For example, you ask Sachiko if she is Japanese. → Sachiko-san wa Nihon-jin desu ka? "Are you Japanese?" Hope this helps!
