The Rakatans are extemely interesting sentients with millenia of history in Star Wars. Predating the Jedi themselves, the Rakatan infinite empire is a story that I think all Star Wars fans (casuals included) will really enjoy. We got a name drop of them in Andor, and if Disney has the guts, they'll make more shows/movies based on the Rakata. They have SO much lore and history in Star Wars that the kinds of stories are endless. Heck, even cover them as the villains for the Je'daii on Tython.

I like the idea of the Rakata being wiped out by the plague. It's like their abuse of the Dark Side caused the Force to strike back at them in order to restore balance.

Like how Plagueis and Sidious created the Chosen One.
They had some force based technology right? What if they were engineering a force based plague and it got loose? That would be some poetic justice.
Hoping the Rakata and the Tusken Raiders connection gets covered. The lore behind the tuskens and what tatooine used to be is my favorite bit of Star Wars history.
No please I hope we don’t see tuskan raiders or the shitty desert set of tattoine for a decade. They really ruined tattoine by overusing the duck out of it

If we get a look at Tatooine and the tusken raiders during the Rakatan Empire, I promise you it'll look nothing like a desert and you wouldn't even recognize the tusken when they stare you in the face.

Rakata, Zakuul, Yuuzhan Vong; As much as I love the history of Jedi and Sith, the 3rd party, wild card factions of Star Wars have always fascinated me the most.

Love that old republic seeds continue to be planted in recent years. First Revans name is canonized and now we got the Rakata. Personally I think the era would be perfect for a game of thrones grand scale epic drama series

They made Kenobi because of one line on the Death Star.

The Rakata are such an amazing and mysterious race. Playing through parts of SWTOR that have their secret tombs, robots and traps are is amazing fun and then discovering lore for them is an amazing read as well. Their one of the most exciting races to explore.
The shortest summary of their history is they were so ugly they had to torment everyone. Just kidding. Byt they're ugly.
The fact that they are responsible for the diversity of species in the universe is wild

Well. Expecting any good results from them is like expecting the Rakata to be nice people.
It would be cool if they were to sound the same way they did in kotor with subtitles.
Rakatans are cool and all, but I'd rather see a show about ancient Sith, Dark Jedi, The Hundred-Year Darkness, Proto Lightsabers etc.
Why so they can hire horrible writers and ruin it. I don’t want them touching kotor they’ll just ruin it man literally just hire people who don’t do the research and don’t care and will write bad fan fiction, let theory write a kotor series least then it will be good.
The Rakatan Empire was mentioned in the High Republic book series several times as well as Manaan and Kolto
I always thought it was crazy the Rakata would eat the people they conquered and would even eat their own kind. The infinite empire was evil x2.

11:00, In Kotor 1, Jolee theorized that the Wookiees were also evolved alongside Kashyyk to serve as gardeners or slaves that were best suited to work on such a lush world.
Thank you for this video. I was introduced to the Rakatans from KOTOR and been curious ever since. So glad Andor made them canon.
those Rakata ships look awesome. Thanks for this history, every since Kotor and Swtor I was interested about about them but never really checked. I never realized the early jedi were such a force to be reckoned with

I literally freaked out when I heard about the Rakata in Andor, I really hope we will get more information and content about the time before the Galactic Republic was founded. I mean we know so little about this time and there’s endless opportunities for shows and maybe movies!
I am a fan of the dawn of the Jedi comics and the Rakata are particularly standout villains since they are so brutal in their tactics.
The hyperspace ramming scene from The Last Jedi would have been *vastly improved* in a lore-saving way had Leia used The Force to manipulate the Hyperdrive and sacrificed herself.
Hell, have her converse with a Rakata among the crew if you want to set groundwork earlier in the movie.
Uh, there are no Rakata in the movie, only Mon Calamari
I'd honestly love to see both the Rakata and the Yuusong Vong in live-action or animated Star Wars productions, but Disney has shown itself inept to the degree that I wouldn't trust them to do more than name drop either species.
Even in KOTOR the Rakata seemed to be super ancient and an almost completely lost civilization, which seemed to predate any of the ancient Sith in the game. I don't know much lore about them past KOTOR but was actually surprised that they are actually known, even just in name, to anyone in Andor. OMG . . . I hope one of the next big threats is a resurgence of the Rakata! Maybe like a Yuuzhan Vong lite, or a pre Yuuzhan Vong, scenario.
I remember being so excited when first seeing the unique Rakata and Selkath species on the KOTOR box. Super cool to see more ties to those games.

Hello there!!! Hey Theory. So a while ago I went on your NerdTheory podcast and tried to get you to watch/react to my fan film and you essentially told me you’d “rather do something else” which really disappointed me because you’ve truly made me into the Star Wars super-fan that I am today. Like Star War has become a huge part of my life so much so that I even made my very own fan-film. And although it’s not great and I want to reshoot someday I thought you’d at least appreciate the effort. Like cmon man you can’t take 5 mins to watch a film about Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus, a character of whom you clearly think is both really cool & criminally underrated. Like bruh I literally said “dedicated to StarWarsTheory” in the beginning of the video & you still wont take 5 mins to watch it. Idk man, I may sound like a jerk now but I really thought you cared a bit more. Like bruh, this is (at least to my knowledge) the ONLY actual Count Dooku fan film in existence. Again, it’s not some amazing professional looking film but like it’s 5 mins & it’s something I worked really hard on. Ok whatever just needed to get this out. May the force be with you ig.

Before i saw your videos about these legends species i didn’t know much, it would be certainly interesting to have a multiple season series about them, like their beginning at first, then their conquest of the galaxy, then the beginning of the jedi order and their fall at the end

I haven’t finished the video but based on what I’ve seen this idea seems to dark for Disney to use, it’s just not in their realm, and although it would be great to use… *they introduced Rey and kept her as a protagonist for 3 films* I don’t think they’d do this idea justice

the pure newness of the star wars world was the essence of its greatness. nothing since has been so original, and sci-fi depends upon presenting new kinds of life, not just funny-looking aliens, but entirely new and unusual settings. concentrating on the first Je'dai and Rakata would be a great choice. Or imagine how cool it would be to feature the Rakatan invasion of Korriban. Has there ever been a movie featuring evil vs. evil? I guess Alien v. Predator - and that was cool!

Very Good, When I noticed this video I was thinking of a few key notes in their history/era, you hit every one :).
Legends continuity is so incredibly broad.
I find the "strange pathogen" wiping out the majority of them to be too convenient and unsatisfying of an "end" for such a cool and dominant empire/species, I wish there was more to it like maybe the Sith or some other species or organization engineering it or maybe the pathogen being a pushback from the force itself against them
I think the latter theory makes sense...
I would DEFINITELY be interested in a movie about this

Bringing in the Rakata all but guarantees, at least in my opinion, the arrival of Revan, Malak, and the Star Forge. I would not be surprised if in a few years that show takes place.

Got to say I'm a sucker for SW lore and anything legends EU. This was an exceptional video.
If they want to pull it off they’d be smart to make it rated R the beginning will start off with a brief depiction of the rakatans origins basically the Qua teaching them the force and small scenes of their conquests If I had a hand in filming I would make the Dark Side or the use of the Dark Side very terrifying enough to make a casual fan look away the abilities such as creating or mutating beings through the force the alchemy all of those things should be displayed then we fast forward to a mixed perspective of the jedai & the force hounds
Every time I play through Kotor (still the best game of all time) I always go out of my way to get the Rakata and the Tuskin’s to tell me about their history. Its probably my favorite historical lore out of Star Wars.
