I was a schoolboy during the war and remember the epic battle of Stalingrad; it is good to see that it is now a beautiful city and that the heroic men and women who defended it are commemorated.

For a while I thought I was reliving WWII in Russia. Mind you, until 1950 I lived in East Germany. My brother-in-law was a POW in Russia until 1956. Bad times for sure. We cannot change the past, but let us look towards the future with hope for everybody to enjoy what life can bring us.

They really must be done in the city captured by and named after Iosif Stalin. Both Stalin and Hitler wanted this to be an epic battle, no matter the cost (and the advice of their war-experienced generals).

What country are you a citizen of? You get in and out of the Russian Federation like its no big deal. That visa is insanely expensive and confusing.

The visa price depends on many factors such as: your citizenship, the level of urgency, the amount of days and entries etc. For example, the price is the same for a Russian wanting to go to Australia and vice versa - AUD 130. Apart from a usual set of documents, Russians require an invitation that can be easily arranged online for a reasonable price. It depends on a travel agency.

Volgograd was Kazakh Land.
The Red Army soldiers were sent across the river in small crafts without guns. They were told: ”If you survive crossing the river (most didn’t) you can pick up a rifle from a dead comrade on the Western shore.” If they wanted to turn back, they were shot by their own officers.

Hitler and Stalin both were dictators at this time and caused thousands of dead people even before the war began. Whereas in Germany the situation was solved in 1945, Stalin went on for years. Together with Mao etc.
What will happen if you let dictators into power - take a look at the Taliban.
We can still not the fix the problems with the political megalomaniacs, take a look at Kim-Jong or Lukashenko also.
