Over 50 years since I travelled in coaches like yours. Love the unique Czech aesthetic of the diesel. Good that Skoda still produces locomotives. 👍🏻🏴
@@doc7austin actually the second class compartment cars on this train (first three on the direct one to Vienna) are all ex-ÖBB. You can easily recognize them by the shape, the seats and double folding tray tables under the windows, and usually also by the door system.
Oh, amazing video of this train called Silva Nortica! Thank you. This train/service was crowded during Summer. I guess that it's not that popular during the winter time. The extension to Vienna is an initiative of the Wardviertel region in Austria to promote tourism and cross-country movement of tourists, it was not meant as an end to end (Prague-Vienna) alternative to the main corridor but it works and I personally love this route. It goes through Třeboň and Gmünd, my favorite towns.
@@doc7austin It's a tiny spa town with very nice historical center. Very similar to Tabor, just in a smaller scale. There are many ponds and lakes around the city so there are many walk and bike paths. Very similar description would fit Gmünd. It's great to compare these cities in one day to see the similarities between Austria/Czechia.
Glad to hear there's a Part 2! I used to travel the Austrian part of this line regularly when I lived there. Sadly the tiny branch line from Schwarzenau no longer runs 😢

I'm surprised you missed Tábor-Bechyně branch line, which departs from small platform on the street in front the train station. It was first electrified line here and it's only line czech republic using 1500V DC. There also possible to see interesting rolling stock.
From time to time I use this train between Prague and Třeboň and I would not call it empty. But it might be quite seasonal and also my preferred one is the morning one (7:46 from Prague).

What is the difference between first and second class on those trains? Both feature 6 seats per cabin. Is the cabin bigger n first class? It is possible that this train is full on the return journey which would justify it running empty to get to Vienna to pickup passengers.

Mais d'après les indications de fréquentation, il y a de quoi se poser des questions sur la rentabilité de la ligne !
CD uses old but fully revamped carriages that in each compartment have dedicated controls for light and temperature (with AC). I always had a good experience while riding them in winter and summer.
Thank you for this very interesting video! Seems to be the more relaxed connection between Wien and Praha! I am impressed how much has been invested into the tracks as I remember when I travelled with the Vindobona back in 1990!
When you hear the famous Pershing/Eso melody as the intro, you know that it's about to be good :)
The best electric locomotive sound EVER!
yes, it is; thats why you hear that sound multiple times in my video

most of these rail cars were built in gdr (east germany)
