This is insane: every time I'm opening any of this video series I get enchanted. Hours pass and I can't leave.
Thanks for the detailed information.
Overall, impressive!!!!
14:37 It's not because it's administration zone border. It's 3kV DC to 25kV AC border. These two locos are built for different currents.
This is not just a train, it's history, geography and cultural lesson all together.
Hello, my friend, from Chelyabinsk, South Ural, Russia. Thank you for great video, great music. Now in Moskow ten long distance railway station. In May 29, 2021 in Moskow was opened VK Vostochny (Eastern station complex).
What an amazing video, I love this series not only for the train ride but for the knowlegde, it just gives the whole video such a nice touch and makes it very interresting to watch along.
Hope I see more of this stuff and I cant wait for the final part!
Thank You very much, Mr. Austin. We're waiting the final episode.
Each instalment of this series is just so good - the journey, the history, the accomodations. The restaurnat car definitely looks to be worth the 10 car trek too. Thanks for this wonderful video.
The locomotive is changing in Uzunovo because the type of electric current is changing. From Moscow to Uzunovo is DC 3kV, after Uzunovo - AC 25 kV.

I'm still thinking.....during loco exchanges, at that momment 2 different loco type attached into the same electrical conductor. How to avoid loco with low voltage- direct current connected into High Voltage -Alternaticng current conductor? Was the electric supply changed in accordance with the loco type to enable exchange process?
Good vid. Train and cabin look very smart . That's a huge journey that you've completed - in a plane you would have been exhausted . I'd love to do such a trip especially in a beautiful country like this . Thanks for sharing .
that looks like a very comfortable berth.
absolutely brilliant viewing. you do it so well and I congratulate you on your presentation. thank you
Thanks!!! It's great! We are looking torward next part!!!
Nice one Mr Austin, but like so many I'm sure, I'm still awaiting to finish the Trans Siberian Rail journey, from Moscow onwards, do hope you have not forgotten us, (I do understand that you've a job and family to consider ,)
Just an outstanding series -- many thanks!
Great job, I rarely watch these travel videos fully but yours is professional!
What an amazing video, I love this series Thank You very much, Mr. Austin -
13:23 it's actually Ozherelye (a place of my childhood). Great video, thx!
Love these outings on my couch relaxing with my beer. Thanks for the ride.
My one Russian experience was a two-week waterways cruise in 1993. These videos have reminded me that each region has maintained its own unique identity and operation despite the previous Soviet domination. Although I have a short attention span, I watch them all the way through and find them fascinating. Thank you for assembling and posting them.
You are wrong. Russia has existed as a Federal Republic since 1921. All regional differences were legalized, unlike Tsarist Russia. In the Soviet era, a monument to Lenin or a red star was erected on each large square, which of course frightened foreign tourists. The locals did not feel this fear or antipathy.
Nahalenok is pretty right. You don't understand Russian reality, sorry ✌️🙂

A great video, a lovely looking train and view. Restaurant car looks really great value 🍴👌
that looks pretty amazing. good job. stay safe.
Great video! Finally, another episode! I can't wait for the Kazakhstan portion as I rode it back in 2003 as I rode the long distance trains there a couple of times then. Your videos make me want to take the trains in Russia. They look very nice. Recently took a trip from NY to Chicago on Amtrak in the Sleeper Class. It just looks so different here. The train (except for the new Cafe Car, with its frozen entrees and packaged food) was frozen in the 1980's.
Amazing, I was watching it breathless, that was trip to remember, thank You.
Amazing video! Thank you so much !
I love your videos, that sunset was beautiful, breathtaking ☀️👌🤗👍
Thank you bro... To upload this video... I was so waiting for this part.... Thanks is a little word for you.... Thank you uuuuuuu thank u......
Your channel is like a history lesson.👍
Done hard job in longest journey n thx for best vdo.🙏🙏🇮🇳💌💐
appreciate your journey
Excellent description of the journey.
Wonderful! Thank you.
This is a really great series.
Great ride! Enjoy your trip! 👍👍
Greats videos. The music was very well chosen. This trains are really beautiful and the crossing with others trains in the russians lonelys stations is is beautiful too. I´m from Quilmes, Buenos Aires , Argentina.
I've so enjoyed your journey.
Nice video.Big LIKE from me.BRAVO!!
Thank you. Thanks also to the experts and the polite Russian additions on the facts. Thanks also for the history element. I look forward to what you have to say about the appalling siege and capitulation.
Great series man.
Great video. Have subscribe to your channel.
Great job as always! Discovered your channel a few months ago and have enjoyed your rail trips around Russia. I grew up in Far East Russia, and riding the rails was my favorite childhood memory. Cheers from Alaska today though.
Alaska belonged to Russia - the USA rented Alaska, but did not return ... we will return
Enjoyed your 4 part series of train travels through Europe and then through Russia. I did a little train traveling through Pennsylvania and New York, USA.
Just excellent!
what a great video! danke
I enjoyed the ride and enjoyed all your videos of your trip through Moscow and Russia a lot different than the United States keep up the good work
I too love long rail journeys
Awesome trip, very nice!
Wow thats a nice cabin.
In my opinion there is no such thing as a free dinner everything is figured on the price of the ticket. Also the cars are built rugged like armored vehicles no fooling around they are not elegant but strong and so far I have enjoyed watching your Summer Journey 👍
This video is beautiful and well documented. I am a new subscriber and hope to follow your travels.👍🍺
Old train back late hostelry on you tube.
Thank you very much. I always enjoy train ride, especially longer range journey. But getting one is harder now in Europe. Wish one day I could do a Tran siberian.
Please come to either Canada or the United States and ride our sleeper trains coast to coast... Mountains, prairies, forests, coasts, enjoy a long journey... I would love to ride on the Trans Siberian Railway...
That Deluxe Sleeper Cabin was as nice as it could be and the ensuite private shower and toilet were beautiful for a private room on the train.
We don't use word "samowar", this is an obsolete word and means another device for rural home using, in railway cars we say "titan" (титан)
the video is in english. most people in english speaking countries are familiar with the term "samowar". if however you say "titan" this has an entirely different meaning.
words with the same roots change differently in different languages.
never the less an interesting bit of titbit
Then it’s more correct to call stewardesses, not "provodnitsa".
@@ursodermatt8809 The word "titan" ("титан") in Russian usually means a giant from Greek mythology or a metallic element ("titanium" in English). The word "titan" is used here as a slang name for the device. I, by the way, never heard of it, though I very rarely use trains.
@@sasha_green_1991 there is another use case of the word "titan" known to me. it is used in households that has no hot water pipes. installed in bathrooms in order to get hot water for bathing purposes. it's a big tank with water inside, just like the titans on trains, the water is warming up usually using wood.
Nice video, mate. Would have been great to see big statue "Motherland calls" just before approaching Volgograd Central. It was on the other side of the car when you were filming new stadium.
19:53 "The difference between this De Luxe and the Tajik car couldn't be bigger". The difference between this Russian DeLuxe cabin and an American Amtrak "First Class bedroom" cabin also couldn't be bigger! Big Thanks for your videos of Eastern European train travel, from Houston, Texas, USA!
I bet the Russian trains don't have a toilet located conveniently right next to your seat (no door, just lid), like the Amtrak Viewliners!
It's that bad? Hot damn, I'm glad we're getting the best toilets. Even most of, if not all the cheapest 3rd class trains have those vacuum toilets and air conditioning now, not to mention at least one AC outlet per 6 beds (you may get two outlets and USB chargers for upper beds). And it obviously only gets better in "premium" trains (with newer cars that are being used for less than 12 years) and higher car classes.
👋Hi.. I'm from India
Thanks for uploading the video
10:42 this is not "real samowar" but "Titan" which is actually just wood (or coal)-burning boiler. They have the same principal of operation (water heated by burning wood, sometimes also used pine cones for its smelly smoke). But the main difference that its built-in, and "samowar" you can simply move around just like teapot.
we see this trains so happy we feel this people are very honest great maintain dis plain
I used to carry Windex to work when I was train conductor because Amtrak is notorious for dirty windows and car exteriors.
I'm your big fan from India.
For this travel documentation fits only a "Wow!" All aspects are meet: for friends of locos the technical, for travelers the geographic, for the spirit the historical, and for the emotions some seconds of music for dreaming. It's hard to not book the next sleeping car. Yes, the way is the goal!
24:36 The Sukhumi-Moscow train is pulled by a fifth-generation locomotive EP20 (Novocherkassk, 2013).
Great video austin.
This surprises me that Volgograd route is partly non-electrified. I believed Volgograd-Moscow section would be an important one to have a double electric route.
From Uzunovo to Bogojavlensk it is single electrified, from Gryazy to Ilovlia - single not electrified.
What is this musical score? So beautiful and sublime...
nice coverage..
На 26:09 комментарий: - honce, almost all black sea - cantral russia trains have to pass through gryazi
I have to add the price 235 Euros goes to the whole compartment (2 berths) in the lux car not depending if you're traveling alone.
nice travel ...
16:52 Well, the entire train is no-smoking. Moreover, all the passenger trains are no-smoking in Russia. Even more, all public transport is such. Because of laws.
Yup and its because you guys dont want trains to catch on fire right? In Romania a train catched on fire because the conductor smoke a cigarette!
@@bandvitromaniaios1307 No, because of the harmful smoke coming from the cigarettes, though fire is a real hazard on any public transport.
@@one_step_sideways + 1 Именно так !
25:47 The VL80 electric locomotive pulls the RA2 rail bus (diesel).
Background music during the intro is lovely. Which song/track?
Great movie :)
15:44 2M62 "Twin Sergei"
I find the opening music track of these videos fascinating! Could anyone please tell me its name and of course the one who composed the piece? Love the videos too♥️
December 17, 2003 on the train Moscow-Volgograd from the station Gryazi-Voronezhskie I left the army. One conscript tried to escape, but he was caught and his belt and laces removed. However, in Volgograd he again tried and could not catch him. :)
Great video! Great channel! Thanks! ... From Volgograd.
Thanks for this video, mate! I'm from Volgograd, living here all my 37 years ) It's great that you've made this railroad trip to my hometown ) How did you like it?
Volgograd is a "pearl" my best russian memories are all there.
Sehr schön, wieder. :) mfg daniel
Whenever I get away on trips I say to myself that there are people trying to make a living everywhere on earth just going to work coming home and try to get on in life, it's the same worldwide so why is there wars everyone just wants a peaceful life and watching vids like these just proves the point, I would love to do a journey like this but it seems that different governments just don't want people to travel and put obstacles in the way with difficult border crossings, trying to get visas and accessing foreign exchange, let the people decide what happens not politicians
11:51 Made it to restaurant car
All of the sudden: "Crap, forgot my wallet"
Please where is part 5?? .. i'd love to finish this journey!
Tips and lifehack. 2 PAX for SV cabin = same price as De luxe - but much better. And one more interesting thing. You will have to pay full price by traveling De Lux cabin, even if you travel to the first stop station, despite of other clases where price will be significantly lower.
Hi Austin I was watching most of your videos and it’s wonderful. In this video I was little curious while watching around 19:12 when I saw your phone has an Accenture logo in the rear. I was wondering you may be an employee there. It was a little joy for me to spot some one connected to that company where I worked nearly 8 years until 2018 😝😝 and making this wonderful Tran journeys...
A look at the menus would have been nice
great video. as usually. thnx. i find you like solyanka soup very much (you take it always) -
I absolutely agree with you - these two soups (solyanka and borshch) are the best among russian soups.
by the way: what's the price of this journey?
Austin wrote he booked this compartment at 235 euros
Thanks for sharing !
Can you inform me about ticet price for this trip , just to get an feeling about possible costs ?
My thinking to a journey to lake Baikal by train becomes more and more attention and big wish .
Looking forward .

Thanks for the video! However this is not the best car in RZD fleet. You travelled in 1M car (6 rooms) & there's one more class higher - 1A car with 4 rooms and bigger shower/toilet zone. These cars are for example on trains between Moscow & St.-Pete, though the total travel time is not enough to feel all of the comfort) Also in addition to RZD there's one more company running the trains between Moscow & St.-Pete - Grand Express - they're using the same cars, but with even more greater level of comfort.
The guy is apologising for the dust on the windows! WOW
