I talked to Vortx technical support earlier this week and found out that they perceive there is a very limited market for a technical reticle. I doubt they will be making any significant investments in this area. Heck they don’t even have one that’s in first focal plane like many other scopes do. The vortex scopes are great but their competition has one in first focal plane that’s $500
In a future spotting scope podcast, could you develop a visual aid to demonstrate how to use the ranging reticle. The booklet that come with the spotting scope is very simplistic.
I like plenty of vortex stuff But other brands have spotting scopes with the technical reticle in the first focal plane so you can zoom in and keep your sub tensions correct at all magnifications. This is the way
Vortex after reading through the comments on this video I think that making an investment in first focal plane technical reticles for your spotters would be a worthwhile investment. If you had one right now I wouldn’t be shopping for other brands currently
The first company that make a reticle eyepiece that includes bot MRAD and MOA is going to out sell the other companies. It’s a scale at a fixed power so both can be on one reticle. Left side MRAD/Right side MOA. I hope it’s Vortex, because I’m a fan boy.
Ordered a vortex 20-60×85 razor HD GEN one in 2016.Then I ordered my 30 Wide angle ranging my peace in MOA. Still looking for one in mil. I guess they discontinued them?
thank you! first informative video speaking on the subject of Swap Scope Eyepiece-Question: I have a Redfield 20-60x60 spotting scope- I cannot find any interchangeable wide lenses for the Redfield-purchased the phone scope adapter however very limited view-I need a wide angel eyepiece, can you suggest a compatible wide Eyepiece for the Redfield?
Is the 85 razor HD bayonet interchangeable with the Swarovski bayonet? I'm an astronomy nerd and want the dual ability to do terrestrial and (casual) astronomical observation. So few spotters have the ability to use 1.25 astronomy eyepieces and I won't spend swarovski money for that ability. I know 1.25 adapters are made for the Swarovski and if they would work with the Razor that would seal the deal for me.
If your hunting in the west just get a razor. I learned the hard way that spotters are no place to hunt for a "best-value window" unless you plan on never using the zoom. If I wasn't so loyal to Vortex, I'd have pawned some guns and spent double the $$$ on a Swarvorski for even the slightest increase in quality.
Yeah if Vortex could come out with a spotting scope with a real FULL reticle and variable zoom, that would be great.
I was just on your website this week looking for a reticle eyepiece for my Viper 15-45x65. Make it and they will come!

It definitely will not be a 10 minute talk. These guys could barely spit out the features list in 20

Please make reticles for the viper and diamondback HDs!
Second this ^ love the idea of ranging reticle in a Diamondback HD
They have them for the Vipers now
@@ut_punkn1859 thanks for posting this. Wouldn't have known!
Are there any reticles that fit the Diamondback HD?
Good to know that the wide angle eyepiece is less tiring on the eyes when used throughout the day.
Digital reticles is where it's at. It can be anything you want it to be.
Phoneskope at the range. Makes it easier to spot all day.

Can I put a wide angle eyepiece on my Vortex Diamondback HD x65?

Yeah they did. Every once in awhile one pops up and changes hands, but getting harder and harder to find
I just happen to have a mil ranging reticle for the gen 1 spotting scope. It has never been used, because it would not fit the gen two's
htwnkid. Would you be willing to sell it?
@@thomasteac8919 definitely. I just want it to go to someone who needs it. I would like to get about $150 for it.
htwnkid. What would be a good way to contact you. I would be willing to buy it.

You are very welcome! We are not familiar with that model, so unfortunately we wouldn't have a recommendation for you on that setup.
Can you talk about the 308 norma magnum

Great question - those are not interchangeable.
can you connect your Nikon DSLR camera to Razor scope?
You bet - you should just need an adapter. Check out www.novagrade.com for one
Would a wide-angle Razor eyepiece fit on a Viper spotter 20-60 x 85?
Sadly no - they are not interchangeable.
@@VortexNation Thanks for your time... much appreciated!
Need to pick up a Viper spotter
