Then sand again, etc. If someone can give me the simplest list of step by step without all the details, I would appreciate it so much. Just a simple 1-10 order list. Thank you
I'll give you my list. I need to make a video on this. First bodywork, the reason for this is if you sand the car first you my not be able to identify all the dents. Second sand car, and strip paint as needed. Then primer block sand prep and paint

I don't know enough about the 717. I know it may have the split tip and I sprayed withth the 629 with the split tip and I like the 715 better. Honestly I think you can a gun that sprays better or is easier to use than this 715.
The 717 works well on lower pressures than the 715, uses less material and is slower as you would expect from a split tip. Both impressive finishes. I have the VS 1.3 and 1.4 and the MP 1.3. I just ordered the MP 1.4. Other than the tip nozzle air cap sets the 717 and 715 seem to be the same gun. Don’t know about longevity yet but as far as effortless finish and ease of use goes let’s put it this way, I have found myself reaching for them over my high end guns.
40+ years ago, early in my electrical apprenticeship, I decided to take some welding classes. After two terms I learned one thing…to always hire my welding done. At this stage of my life I have way more time than money so decided to “to fix” the damaged clear coat on our old desert car. You make this stuff look easy, but I’m having (bad) memories of those welding classes. :-)))
I’m gonna do it but time will tell if I ever wanna do it again! :-))) I guess the important thing is to just try. And, the old paint job was a mess before I started, so what’s to lose? I’ll let you know cuz I’m very close to paint. Thanks for your vids!
I just happened to grab the 800 1st. Doesn't really matter what order 800 or 600. You can clear-coat over either one of those. typically I prefer to clear over 600. It's a little bit more aggressive scatch for adhesion but eight hundred is fine as well.
@GarageNoise that great thanks for that. make sense. Also, if your new to shaping bondo after you get what your initial shape would be wise to sand with a less aggressive paper, let's say 180. So you avoid taken to much of where you have to re wipe
Once again simple stupid instructions a 6 year old can understand. Great job! The only thing I do not understand is the sealant process? In S.A we normally would use spray filler or the new version which is called ms primer. I got to go google paint sealant in S.A.....

@@Killer-lo3ig oh yeah, absolutely. It consumes 10.5 cfm so it not a lvlp but also not an air hog.
Don't know if I should get a porphis 717 or porphis 715
You can do it! Take your time follow the process, I'm here if you have questions.
I’m gonna do it but time will tell if I ever wanna do it again! :-))) I guess the important thing is to just try. And, the old paint job was a mess before I started, so what’s to lose? I’ll let you know cuz I’m very close to paint. Thanks for your vids!
I prefer to paint over 80 grit. That ensures the paint will adhehere to the substrate. If it is single stage metallic. 40 grit is the ticket.
Oh my, I hope your kidding.
@@GarageNoise maybe 🤣
😂😂
no sealer. ive gotten in the habit of using epoxy primer as a sealer and sealing with epoxy
That can be great it certain situations . I've started doingvsome of thatvas well. I did use sealer on this.
@@GarageNoise using epoxy mixed to sealer lays great and seals better than urethane
Why do you 800 to 600.. why not 600 to 800? Wouldn't you wanna base an clear over 800?
I just happened to grab the 800 1st. Doesn't really matter what order 800 or 600. You can clear-coat over either one of those. typically I prefer to clear over 600. It's a little bit more aggressive scatch for adhesion but eight hundred is fine as well.
@GarageNoise that great thanks for that. make sense. Also, if your new to shaping bondo after you get what your initial shape would be wise to sand with a less aggressive paper, let's say 180. So you avoid taken to much of where you have to re wipe
We start painting before porphis existing and we survived

Once again simple stupid instructions a 6 year old can understand. Great job! The only thing I do not understand is the sealant process? In S.A we normally would use spray filler or the new version which is called ms primer. I got to go google paint sealant in S.A.....
