    thanks roland. i have never caught a fish on a buzz bait. however, you confirmed what i thought, which is rainy, cold overcast is the the time to use all that sound. i just use monofilament because it is basically cheaper. usually 14 pound test stren.

    Question to Ronald..Todays weather, 78F, cloudy with light wind, no bites on whopper plopper 75 or 90's or spinners but first time I used a black buzzbait, within 30 minutes I caught 5...,makes no sense.

    • @21DaHoagie12
      @21DaHoagie12 3 года назад +1

      Black buzzbait on a warm cloudy day is the best topwater you can throw. Black/grey with red blade for cloudy days, white/chartreuse with gold blade when the suns out... plus buzz bait makes more racket when entering the water, get more reaction strikes than with the plopper or spinner, most buzzbait strikes for me come within the first few cranks of the reel.

    It works even better if you add 3 trailer hooks like a convoy with a purple worm white tail rigged on them so they stay weedless
    I got that ideal in the late 1970's while listening to that song Convoy by C. W. McCall LOL

    Okay some history. Do you remember the inline bucktail buzzers that Pat Floyd used to make? They were called Floyds Buzzers. He was from Royal Center in. Blue Fox/ Uncle Bucks made them for awhile. They paid Pat Royalties. Pat passed away a few years ago. I got back into fishing and was hoping to find some. As far as I can tell no one makes them anymore. I caught a lot of fish on them. What was nice is the fact they would go through heavy pads and such a lot better than the buzzers you buy today. Was wondering if you would remember them.

      When I worked with blue fox, I endorsed Floyds buzzer

    • @5ross1

      @@RolandMartinOutdoors That was what I thought. Now do you know who still makes that style of buzz bait?, I used to go out to Pat's of an evening and just hang out at his shop while he made baits.

    Roland, could you please do a video on multi piece rods. Pros and cons. I have 7’ one piece rods and
    6.5 two piece when I travel. The two piece rods I put a piece of tape on the joint. This is because my friend told me I could lose a fish if it ever came apart. I have two telescopes too any they aren’t ideal but work well in a pinch. I’d just kinda like to know the pro’s view.😄

    Roland, I'm guessing you prefer mono over braid for buzzin' because of the stretch factor, allowing for a better '' grab '' on the lure ?... but wouldn't the much smaller diameter braid give better casting distance and not reduce the circumference of the spool the way 20lb. mono does, especially on long cast ?

      Fisherman 83 high speed is best because you wanna get the blade spinning immediately as it hits the water

    How do u put the trailer hook on your buzzbaits

    • @dennisharris144
      @dennisharris144 5 лет назад

      Buy special trailer hooks with bigger eyes. Then use a small piece of surgical tubing

    • @judweaver3635
      @judweaver3635 5 лет назад

      "Trailer hooks" can be purchased. The eyes are a little bigger to slip past the barb & they come with a piece of tubing already stretched over the eye.

    How do I add a trailer to a buzz bait with a trailer hook?

    • @judweaver3635
      @judweaver3635 5 лет назад +1

      With that trailer hook, you'll lose side to side action. I'd add something that kicks up & down, like frog legs. That way the trailer is between the "legs". Here's the rub. A trailer adds weight, which makes the buzzbait sink faster, which makes you have to reel faster to keep it on the surface, which defeats the purpose of the Cavitron. Either don't add one or use floating style soft plastics. Another great slow moving buzzbait is one with side by side buzzers. Those double buzzbaits can be fished ultra slow to keep 'em in the strike zone longer.
