Great video Ben! As a McLaren fan for over a decade, it has been quite the rollercoaster for the team. From celebrating their wins and championship challenges, to seeing them suffer for so long as a mediocre team, it has been fantastic to see how much ground they've made up in the past few seasons. Big appreciation for the new management.
Man, I remember holding my head through 2015. That was so bad. I was so hyped - like how I was so hyped for Ricciardo joining the team. At least Ricciardo is getting there. He was P2 before he got shunted in Hungary. So close to getting out of that pile up. Would've been a duel with Leclerc (who also nearly made it out of there).
So good. You've completely outdone yourself here. Really the only other things you could've added were Zak Brown's ventures with Indycar and that other series, Formula Extreme (some off road racing series can't remember the exact name) but it's not really necessary anyway. Awesome video! I really hope the 2022 car will be more to Daniel's driving style. Recently Andre Stella talked about McLaren's aero design, how apparently it's been a strange one for a long time already. Again, amazing work! Thank you!
Thanks a tonne. I assume you’re talking about Stella’s comments ahead of the Hungarian GP when he talked about Daniel’s driving style being unsuited to the characteristics of the McLaren. I can see Danny eventually finding his way with the car, but as Stella said, progress won’t be seen on a race by race basis. He knows what’s wrong, but it’s a lot harder trying to change from something you’ve used for a long time.

McLaren needs another driver. Danny Ric is not a good fit and he cost too much for little return. They should hire another driver who is better at adapting to the car. Or some who has a similar driving style to Lando.
@Paul Hurst I’m saying long run. From the feedback coming out of McLaren, they’re trying everything to help him but Ric is not adapting too well. I don’t see why they should extend his contract once it’s over. Losing Sainz was a huge blow. Maybe Ric should go back to Red Bull. If he gets destroyed by Max again, it’s time to retire

If I remember correctly when the 2009 car was developed the wind tunnel they used was not correctly calibrated. And after the summer break (when they brought out version B that was done when the wind tunnel was correctly calibrated) Ham took more points than anyone. Let's look at the Honda years again. 2015 Honda was unreliable and underpowered, 2016 Honda made strides but hit a wall with their development path so for 2017 they had to start from the beginning again, 2017 the engine was back to being unreliable. As we saw Handa was capable of making progress over the winter (2015), so your suggestion like TR took the same engines that McLaren had and got 4th place in Bahrain is absurd. McLaren more than doubled their 2015 points (27) in 2016 (76). In 2017 they got 30 points. Fun fact: TR had 53 p in 2017 (with Renault engines) and 33 p in 2018 (with Honda engines). Yes, there were deficiencies in McLaren's chassis design, but Honda engines in 2017 weren't nearly good enough to show them. You did what so many have done: "Since 2018 McLaren had chassis problem, therefore Honda was never the problem". On a side note, what's wrong with colors in this video? Why is McLaren blue more like Aston Martin green?
Really enjoyed the video. I might be a minority in this, but it kinda annoys me when RUclipsrs say things like "everyone already knows this so I don't have to repeat it" (talking about Alonso's radio message in Japan), as a relatively new fan, I'm not familiar with all the historical significant/funny moments and I feel it can isolate some of your viewers by saying things like that. Just my thoughts.
You got the MB Mac separation wrong. MB parted ways with Mac back around 2011 when Mac had two consecutive seasons where they were embroiled in conspiracies. MB raced one season with out Mac, then took a season or two off from F1, but when they returned, they would not sell an engine program to Mac, so Mac went to Ferrari, and Ferrari turned Mac down also, that's how Mac ended up with Honda, who was making there return to F1 engine building.
2021 mclaren is on a decent pace !! 3rd in constructor’s as of now and danny and lando doing great job !! Mclaren has seen a lot of ups and downs since 2007 finally dennis retired and under zak brown mclaren is rising again !! Great things take time doesn’t happen suddenly !! I love Mclaren will always support them. (Although not my favourite team)
Brilliant as always! Did you cut that intro together? Watching at double speed made it extra dramatic! 👍🏽 Management styles need to adapt in order to get the best out of their teams, and sadly for all his precision and attention to detail, Ron was too rigid. Zach and Adreas are the complete opposite and it shows!
Thank you John. Yeah I did the intro. The management side really fascinated me while researching. As you say, management styles need to change over time and currently, the way most teams manage their drivers is through multiple department directors with the team principal overseeing everything. Zak employed Andreas to take charge of reshuffling the management structure and he’s done a fine job of it

Yeah that’s my bad. I shouldn’t have assumed that everybody knew that team radio so apologies. Thanks for the feedback though :)
@@BMPHF1 No worries at all, its a small thing. Keep up the great work!
As a new f1 fan 11:30 triggers me 😆
You got the MB Mac separation wrong.
Zak employed Andreas to take charge of reshuffling the management structure and he’s done a fine job of it
@@BMPHF1 nice one! Exciting times ahead for McLaren 😊
183 victories :)
Great video great information but if you have waited till monza ricciardo's win it would have been even greater 😄
Honestly not seen your videos before and came into this a bit sceptical about how in-depth it would be. Need I say I should not have been worried, very well researched lovely presentation, didn't feel the need to create a sense of excessive drama and sensationalise anything. Very well done you have yourself a new subscriber
I'm a bit confused by the colour grading in this piece. Have all of the blues been shifted towards green?
It's clear all they have to do now is bring back the retro livery from Monaco.....
great video mate
careful with the colour grading on your videos. Everything looks off
well...
Leave it to an American to save the Brits.
And vica versa
What the hell is up with the long intro song? That was so annoying.
