Ya as much as the theatrical version makes no sense to have him as a father and rapist is completely stupid. Loomis getting the thorn tattoo at the end was dumb too. Without those to elements producers was better. To be honest though, they both sucked compared to other sequals in the franchise.
I think the producer's cut ending is a cool closure to that era of Halloween films before they went onto H20. Loomis being cursed with Thorn and forced as their new leader has a "we're destined to do this forever" vibe followed by the jack o lantern candle being blown out. it's a haunting and cool ending.
Honestly before I heard about this I thought that Jamie got together with Billy from the last film or with another man when she was older and got pregnant but she gets kidnapped when she was due and the rest of the film continues. I guess the only reason why they added this is so the Weintens can show the horrible actions they do behind the scenes.
Tommy did not find the runes he brought them himself. he had them in the scene when he explained the curse to Kara another difference in the films you forgot too mention.
I was hoping for you to cover some aspects of the troubled production of Curse and also comment on the differences between the two versions and voila - here comes the Cut Comparison. Yeah I'm actually kinda hoping James does go back and do the Alien movies at some point for this series, especially since all four of the original movies have director's cuts (with Aliens and 3 being the most popular ones for obvious reasons). Same with any other film he's covered previously that has an unrated/extended version.

Would love to see a version with the producer's cut story line, but with the gorier, and more graphic kill scenes of the theatrical version inserted. Aka the BEST of both versions.
I absolutely loved this! I'm so happy you're finally launching this new series. I've been keeping my eyes out for such a video since you mentioned wanting to compare the different versions of Alien 3. I love the humor and wit of your "Kill Counts" but I really like that you took a more "real talk" approach to this series. For lack of better phrasing, it feels a bit more "intimate" than the usual Kill Count. I don't mean this negatively but there's a clear performance aspect to the Kill Counts, but that's stripped away here and it's just you talking to us, much like with Chelsea and your podcasts. Excited for the next installment!
Theatrical: -Better color correction -Better kills -Faster paced -Better Loomis send off Producers: -Better use of music (Halloween theme used better) -Includes key information -More Loomis -More Wynn
DoYouWannaGetThe SUCC I never said that I prefer one cut over the other, I merely stated some pros of each. This was to inform others and let them make their own decision, not to force my opinion on to anyone.
DoYouWannaGetThe SUCC You can’t say you wanted to let people make their own decisions when instead of stating facts you said ‘The producers cut is WAY better’ that’s not letting others make an opinion, that’s just you forcing your opinion on others. I do agree that the producers cut is better, but you shouldn’t hate on someone because they think the theatrical is better.
I really love how you keep thinking about new things to do on your channel and I think this in particular is a great idea. Keep up the good work James :D
Halloween 6 is a mess, but it was just trying to make sense of the elements introduced in 5, and was a labor of love by many involved. I'd still say I like Halloween 6 more than Halloween 5 and Resurrection.
6 is my 4th favourite film in the franchise. My list: 1: Halloween 2 2: Halloween 3 3: Halloween 1 4: Halloween 6 5: Halloween 2018 6: Halloween 2007 7: Halloween 4 8: Halloween H20 9: Halloween 2 2009 10: Halloween 5 11: Halloween Resurrection I enjoy them all, even 5 and Resurrection, they have flaws but I'm someone who can easily recognise flaws, accept them and put them aside to enjoy the rest of a film. I can say that 5 is the most boring and Resurrection is the most offensively stupid but still like I said... Don't care too much, I like them, which one I like more can alternate from time to time, same for H4 and H20, sometimes I like one more, others I prefer the other. But my favourites being 2 and 3 are set in stone, fucking love those films.
in Producer's cut, this is originally titled "Halloween 666: The Origin of Michael Myers" but they changed into "Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers", James!
Here are my pros and cons for both versions of Halloween 6. P-Cut pros: 1. Opening narration with Loomis 2. More scenes with Loomis. 3. Since Jamie survives Michael’s attack, that gives Loomis a reason to be at the hospital. 4. I like the music that was composed for the cult scenes as well as some of the classic Carpenter music. 5. More scenes with other characters that help develop them more. P-Cut cons: 1. Michael impregnating Jamie. 2. Wynn telling Loomis that he gave Michael the “gift of Thorn,” which makes Michael less mysterious since Wynn made him murder his sister and has been controlling him ever since. 3. Michael being stopped by magic rocks. I don’t want there to be extremely obvious supernatural things in the Halloween films. Hint at it, but don’t confirm it. 4. The entire last act has almost no intensity and feels more like a soap opera than a Halloween movie. 5. When John Strode gets electrocuted you can see the stuntman’s face and he looks nothing like the actor. 6. The film relies too heavily on the classic Carpenter music. It’s used way too much and doesn’t know when to fade out. 7. Michael is basically a sidekick. He should be the main villain. 8. Thorn tattoo appearing on Loomis’s wrist. This Thorn stuff was getting ridiculous. It’s fine to talk about it a bit but it’s focused on way too much and takes away from the suspense and mysterious nature of Michael Myers. 9. The nighttime shot of Smith’s Grove is actually a recycled shot from Halloween 4, except in Halloween 4 it was a different building. Seems like a lazy and unprofessional thing to do. T-Cut pros: 1. Michael is brutal. The last act of the film shows how relentless and uncontrollable he is. 2. The Curse of Thorn seems more like a theory to explain why Michael is evil instead of being an indisputable fact as in the producer’s cut. 3. I really like the song “And Fools Shine On” as well as a lot of the music composed for the theatrical cut. 4. The death of John Strode is much more intense. Even if you don’t like the exploding head, all the shots leading up to it are much more effective than they are in the p-cut. 5. I really like the scene of Jamie walking around in the barn and how she sees Michael lit up by a flash of lightning and then he seems to disappear. Very creepy because it gives Michael a ghost-like quality. In the p-cut she just sits on a bale of hay waiting to get stabbed. 6. Instead of Wynn saying he gave Michael the Curse of Thorn as he does in the p-cut, in the t-cut he just says that Loomis was the first one to recognize that Michael was “evil. Pure, uncorrupted, ancient.” This keeps Michael’s evil more mysterious because it doesn’t directly tell us that Wynn made him evil. 7. There’s nothing in the film that suggests Michael is the father of Jamie’s baby. I thought having him be the father was ridiculous and in the t-cut it’s a mystery who the father is (or maybe the baby was the result of a genetic experiment conducted by Wynn). T-Cut cons: 1. Not enough Loomis. 2. The ending isn’t explained. What is Wynn’s plan? What does he intend to do with Danny and the baby? There needed to be at least a minimum amount of explanation so that we can try to make some sense of it. 3. Too much crazy “flash cut” editing. 4. They overdid it with the jump scares and some other sound effects. 5. I’m not a fan of how Jamie dies in such a brutal, over-the-top way. 6. Since Jamie dies early on in the film there’s no reason why Loomis hangs out at the hospital all day. Why is he there? Does he just really like the cafeteria food? After comparing all the pros and cons of the two cuts I prefer the theatrical cut. My two main reasons are: 1. It’s more intense 2. The nature of Michael’s evil is a bit more mysterious.
Good breakdown. I agree. There should be a mystery around why Michael does what he does. Explaining it away with him being controlled by another entity makes him more of a side character than the full blown antagonist
I think one of the cult members impregnated Jamie on Wynn's orders, and Michael just sat and observed. And I honestly like the Rock version of the iconic score. Gives it a bit more variety. And maybe the effect of the curse of Thorn was too much for Loomis when the mark appeared on his wrist that it eventually killed him? I mean, it could have different effects on certain people. Wynn embraced it, but when he passed it on to Loomis, it might've been too powerful for the guy that it killed him. Just a theory, but I think it'd make sense.
The reasons why I prefer the Theatrical Cut are exactly the same as yours. Michael is not treated as the cult's pet dog, he still seems to be his own thing, uncontrollable. This added to the way gorier kills make him way more menacing and mysterious
I’ve recently found this channel, and I love it. You’re such a laid back and chill dude. I used to be terrified of horror movies but now I love them thanks to you. I’m glad that there’s someone out there like you James.
Is it just me or does the Smith's Grove sanitarium look exactly like the Ridgemont mental hospital that Micheal was getting transferred back to Smith's Grove from in the beginning of Halloween 4???
I didn't expect it that soon for some reason, but I'm SO not complaing. A great idea and of course an equally great execution. Feel free to make more, you got my vote! (Too bad that the late 90s Mel Gibson joint PAYBACK isn't a horror movie, because I can't think of any other movie that has such drastically different cuts.)
I know this is an older video but I own both versions of this movie. I slightly like the producers cut just because it makes the story make little more sense.
I remember me and my wife doing a Halloween movie marathon leading up to the release of the 2018 movie and when we got to this movie she was so disgusted by what they were stating with Jamie and Michael that she actually had to pause the movie and she legit nearly threw up, I totally understood and even I had to take a few paces to relax, it is such a gross storyline and completely unnecessary, the idea of Jamie being a teenage mom (and surviving) didn’t bother us but having the dad be her UNCLE and him killing her after the baby’s birth is just wrong on so many levels
it's especially disturbing because we remember Jamie more as a little girl from the fourth and fifth films, when you remember that scene in the addict in the sixth film it's especially disturbing and very unnecessary *I don't wanna know that little Jamie was fucking raped by her uncle*
I'm so excited for this series! I love comparing different versions of movies. Idea that I'm sure others have said before: Saying "Let's get to the cuts!" before starting your analysis. It just seems like a natural thing to say and echoes your Kill Count line.
A likely 3rd scenario would probably be that he dies from all the previous inflicted wounds he suffered throughout the series cause I like to imagine that while the curse was there it basically prevented those wounds from actually doing anything to his body so when the curse is removed they now actually start effecting him
@@heroomori3819 i think he would have lived. He has some sort of healing factor. Remember he had his eyes shot out and was burned to death , but in H4 , his eyes are normal now along with having long hair and a pony tail(imagine Michael in the mirror putting his hair like that).
Mr Unknown true so I guess with that scenario if he were to die it would most likely be him killing himself cause he probably wouldn't want to live with the guilt of killing his family unless he loses his memory in that case idk what he'd do
@@heroomori3819 i agree. He'll possibly take himself out after hearing about the things he did. But if he didn't , we know nothing about how Michael was before his first kill , so we don't know his personality or what he wanted to before Halloween . Even if he do try to live on , it's possible that lots of people would hate him or try to kill him for the things the Cult made him do.
Thank you for doing this! As someone who adores the franchise and was in the midde of a marathon, this film confused the hell out of me 😅 I had also seen the Producer's cut years ago so I thought I had a Mandala effect happening when I realized how bizzarely different the theatrical cut I saw recently was
There’s another cut comparison that might get a comparison: Saw III (Original and Director’s Cut). There’s some scenes in the Director’s Cut such as a Catfight between Amanda and Lynn, Amanda getting nightmares about Adam, and Jeff playing the tape instead of John.
From what i can tell the Wiensteins wanted more gore but less story to get to the gore faster. again I don't mind the increased gore but the cutting out of scenes that give context to parts of the movie seemed almost like they were trying to cut as much of the story as they could. in short the Weinstiens have the story pallet of 12 year olds. "MORE BLOOD LESS TALKING"
It definetly would've been better if the two were combined to have the theatrical ending with Loomis dying alongside with the gorier deaths, but with the smoother timeline explaining parts the theatrical cut removed.
Some sick fan of Halloween 6 with will probably make such a cut some day. Just gotta color grade the two to match, made easier since the producer's cut is practically raw footage without an intense grade to work against.
So if Donald Pleasance lived a little longer and they decided to make Halloween 7, does that mean that Dr. Loomis was gonna start slashing people😂 this movie is so confusing.
14:35 *I was gonna say "That was Wilbur!?" The doc is way too short to be Wilbur! Haha! Pretty cool that the doc is Lerner's dad. However this video and it's comparison is nice! I was searching for a video comparison with commentary this is great!* 🤘💯🎃
The Producer's Cut is definitely better but there are things from the Tcut they should keep as well (especially the Brother Cane over the end credits). Keep the strobe light hospital massacre, keep the "he's very angry" lady, but overall the Pcut was much better.
Between having both versions, and watching Cinema Snob's reviews, I have to say, both suck rectal hair. However, the Producer's Cut is a much better film. Also: it's his "Great-Nephew". Not to nitpick. Your grandparents' siblings are your Great Aunt/Uncle. Sorry to bring it up again.

Michael... I don't think he is the father of the baby.
To be honest, I think that scene was fine since it wasn't explicit. I can't imagine seeing Michael-fucking-Myers rape someone.
And the ending sucks
Michael is the father of Jamie baby.
Dang the producers cut is way better except the part where Loomis gets the thorn
So is no one gonna talk about how nasty it was that Mike raped his niece to make his grand nephew?
I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN THE PRO CUT IF IT WASNT FOR THAT. ONE. SCENE.
@@AsickJoke woah, it actually shows that??? I thought the cult people just inseminated her???
@@leahconners5054 It's not exactly showed but yeah. Kara said that the baby was Michael's.

You should totally say “let’s cut to the comparison” instead of “lets get to the kills” for this new series
Tommy did not find the runes he brought them himself. he had them in the scene when he explained the curse to Kara another difference in the films you forgot too mention.

If he’s going to continue this series, he has to compare Little Shop of Horrors. The two versions are drastically different endings.
That would be cool, except that’s the only change in the director’s cut, so there’s not much to talk about.

It's like you've been reading my mind. I'm looking forward to more of this. The Alien series is a good place to start, part 3 is gonna be a shit ton of work, though
Yeah I'm actually kinda hoping James does go back and do the Alien movies at some point for this series, especially since all four of the original movies have director's cuts (with Aliens and 3 being the most popular ones for obvious reasons). Same with any other film he's covered previously that has an unrated/extended version.
Considering the letter thorn was in use up until at least the invention of the printing press, that producer's cut title card reads 'Hthlloween 6'.
The Producer's Cut is the best one. The theatrical one was a total mess and made no sense!
After the invention of the printing press, it was often substituted with "y." e.g. "Ye olde shoppes."

Halloween 6 is a mess, but it was just trying to make sense of the elements introduced in 5, and was a labor of love by many involved. I'd still say I like Halloween 6 more than Halloween 5 and Resurrection.
Nice dog.
6 is my 4th favourite film in the franchise.
My list:
1: Halloween 2
2: Halloween 3
3: Halloween 1
4: Halloween 6
5: Halloween 2018
6: Halloween 2007
7: Halloween 4
8: Halloween H20
9: Halloween 2 2009
10: Halloween 5
11: Halloween Resurrection
I enjoy them all, even 5 and Resurrection, they have flaws but I'm someone who can easily recognise flaws, accept them and put them aside to enjoy the rest of a film.
Halloween 6 Producers cut is the best one in the Halloween franchise. Too bad they did not do the sequel that was planned for it
If you only read the sequel that was planned for it you wouldn't be saying it's a mess.
The planned sequel to Part 6 would be FAR better than the shit that has come out since

Awesome video and concept. Who can top your content? NO ONE, that's who. Thanks!
Here are my pros and cons for both versions of Halloween 6.
P-Cut pros:
1. Opening narration with Loomis
2. More scenes with Loomis.
3. Since Jamie survives Michael’s attack, that gives Loomis a reason to be at the hospital.
4. I like the music that was composed for the cult scenes as well as some of the classic Carpenter music.
5. More scenes with other characters that help develop them more.
P-Cut cons:
T-Cut pros:
T-Cut cons:
My two main reasons are:
1. It’s more intense
@@EntertainmentFan11 maybe Loomis killed himself afterward as he doesn’t want forced to be part of the Cult
@@toyohimeyeswatatsuki6917 That's also possible.
The reasons why I prefer the Theatrical Cut are exactly the same as yours. Michael is not treated as the cult's pet dog, he still seems to be his own thing, uncontrollable. This added to the way gorier kills make him way more menacing and mysterious
This is going to be an amazing series! Thank you so much for all your hard work James!

Idea that I'm sure others have said before: Saying "Let's get to the cuts!" before starting your analysis. It just seems like a natural thing to say and echoes your Kill Count line.
What would happen if Michaels curse ended would he be a normal guy and get a job and help fight the thorn curse or just be silent and be arrested
Probably the latter. I'd imagine he'd have some serious self identity issues
I had also seen the Producer's cut years ago so I thought I had a Mandala effect happening when I realized how bizzarely different the theatrical cut I saw recently was
There’s another cut comparison that might get a comparison: Saw III (Original and Director’s Cut). There’s some scenes in the Director’s Cut such as a Catfight between Amanda and Lynn, Amanda getting nightmares about Adam, and Jeff playing the tape instead of John.
James... Please be my dad
Producee's cut all the way for me. Better plot overall (even if some parts are a bit stupid), better soundtrack, and less Weinstein involvement.
Interested in seeing what this series is like...
I wanna do this someday and call it the "definitive version". Then I upload it to RUclips
