I am a beginner to woodwork, the main test I have with this bundle ruclips.net/user/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt is that I think that its hard to settle on a choice of the plan and outline to use as there are a large portion of them there. Nonetheless, I like the simple stride to step directions laid out there.
Welcome back! Your style of making was sorely missed around these parts, and I'm very happy to see new content. Beautifully crafted table. I love the base, and the handmade sliders are absolute genius, no matter how many times I see you make them. Well done, sir.
Joey, So glad to see another video. I've watched many of your older ones several times. Yours is my favourite carpentry channel. I like your practical approach with the combination of hand- and power tools; your instruction and commentary, and of course the excellent craftsmanship. As a person in the same business I connect with the fact that you have to keep things within budget, get it done in a timely manner, while still doing quality work. Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming. Cheers mate!
This is so weird. I was on RUclips last night and thought to myself 'I haven't seen a vid recommended by Joey for the last year' so I took a look at the channel and found the rebrand from Kingpost Timberworks (nice!) but no content for the last year. Suddenly this was released roughly as I was closing RUclips! Thanks, Joey. Hope you're well, and there was no need to release this vid on my account. ;-)
Love the leg design and amazing craftsmanship on the extension mechanism. I thought something that long would sag too much in the middle to slide back and forth. Excellent work.
I'm 10 mins in and enjoying it and subbed. You sound Expat South African, thanks for making us proud boet. Did you bring your tools with you or buy new?
Great to see you back Joey. The new workshop looks great, and being working from home makes for a great change in life. Love the podcast too. You guys have a great vib
Greetings from the One Handed Maker - Australia. Thanks for sharing your video and talent. Your table design is terrific and I love the balance between the base and the top. Extension tables are a step up skill wise. I have subscribed and will go over some of your other videos. James
Hey mate I really enjoyed watching this video. I am especially interested in how you were able to shape the curved leg bracing piece on the router table without getting tear out. It is probably the hardest thing for me to do. Thanks.
Glad to see a new project from you. Welcome back! Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new, feel inspired, and always want more. Thank you for posting, looking forward to the next one..
That table is incredible!! It just glides when you open and close it, and no matter the size, it is a truly beautiful piece of furniture. Absolutely amazing 😊👍👍👍👍👍
Always great watching your videos, hopefully you'll have time for more! The mark for the taper of the curved stretches could be done using a laser level I think.
I may have missed, but did you add or strengthen the bottom of the table legs to prevent wear and tear during moving the base? Great job I enjoyed watching ,I’m sure there were a few challenges along the way with that build..👏🏼👏🏼
I am at the point where you are making an arc. You may talk about this later but I’ve had decent results by stringing a long thin piece of wood like a bow, then tighten the string and pull an arc into the strip of wood. If the wood varied in thickness or slightly tapered the arc would probably reflect its bend in offset to shape. Now I’ll go back and finish watching you work haha ha BTW great looking project
A Master Piece Joey. I hope the client invites you over to enjoy a dinner to christen it. He must have one hell of a big family for Sunday lunch. Welcome back after such a long break. We can see there has been some sunshine in Kiwi land. Happy New Year to you and the family.
Wow, wow and wow. Working in the new workshop seems so much more of a comfortable fit. The table looks great especially the organic looking bracing for the legs. And, I'm somewhat envious of your press, it looks like a valuable asset, but I remember seeing that in the old workshop. All the best for a great 2023. Thanks for the video. Cheers, David
Welcome back, Joey! Maybe consider a Patreon account and we can all chip in together to help you out. I love your teaching and attention to detail. Glad you’re back!
Good to see you again, Joey. Great work, as is normal for you - a true craftsman. Me - I'd have a LOT of expensive firewood and no table because I would never have been able to design, let alone construct, many of those parts.. Fantastic return from the dark. Welcome back.
Over the top on this project Joey! Love the attention to detail and craftsmanship you put into each project. Also, welcome back! I really miss watching you create! Thank you for sharing
Excellent work Joey. Love the engineering of the runners. The carving of the legs really made it look suspended. Color selection and finish are outstanding.
So great to see another video from you Joey! Was glad to have found your FB page and follow your projects. As always great job and thank you for sharing.
Great looking table! Good to see you back with a new shop. As someone who has a long dining room table with 3 modular leafs and who's fitting in leafs 8-10 times a year, I think a metal extension system that could hold the full table eight might have been better. A lot of wear and tear, adding, removing leafs and moving a big table around. I have a sturdy metal extension system and it has wear after twenty years and the table probably isn't half as heavy as the one you built. Also, brass dominos might be a good idea. I have thick wooden dowels into brass inserts for the leafs on mine and they aren't great. I would love a brass domino into a wood mortise instead.
Great to have you back Joey, you were the first person I watched on here 4ish year's ago, still love your work and seeing your process of doing things, always learn an extra tip or trick from your videos 👍🏻
That's a massive table. It came out looking great. Are you happy with the extension rail design? How much tolerance did you give the rails to allow for moisture variances? You have a domino cutter, so I'm wondering why you took the time to route the tenons as they seem to be much the same as a domino. Cheers.
So glad you're back mate. That is an epic table. Looks great and please keep filming and sharing with us. It's an inspiration to see that not everything (dovetails) goes to plan but as pro you know how to fix it.
Every time I watch another woodworker on you tube I wonder what Joey is up to. Nice to see a new video. The legs are lovely. Such a good eye for design.
So glad to see you back! I always watch your videos, very inspiring! Where did you get that small tool belt you're always wearing in the shop? I'm always getting different ones for wearing in the shop just to hold the basics, and yours looks awesome.
Great to see you back. I am sure you already know, but watching you do the stretcher made me think of the how to draw an ellipse with string trick to get an easier smooth curve
It's great to see you again Joey. I have been watching your videos for many years and they are some of my favorite for woodworking content. A perfect way to start off 2023....its been a long while, but definitely worth the wait. Glad to see you back Joey....you have been missed.
Beautiful work as always.
Thanks for sharing it with us. I know it takes extra time to do the filming and I, for one, appreciate it.

The table looks amazing! Was there a reason why you didn’t use a domino joiner rather than the Pantorouter?

And the Japanese temple builders have rules for making the barge boards with that compound curve.

Wow what an amazing table beautiful work amazing craftsmen ship
Amazing job on the table mate so very happy to see a video from you in my feed. Welcome back and Happy New Year from Canada 🇨🇦
Love your work and design. Any update on your self built home?
Welcome back Joey, the new shop looks great. You can safely add engineer to the job title now after that design.
Great work, Joey! Ingenious and beautiful.
He lives. Fantastic. He still makes videos. Even better! Great to see you back at it!
Do it upside down. Hang a string to mark a catenary for a smooth pretty curve.
Incredible work as usual. Is that a custom make tool pouch you have on?? Looks like the perfect shop pouch
Oh my god I've missed your videos. Glad you're back

Veneered is the way to go for form, function and durability.
