I’m with Katrina. Dutch “pancakes” is a misnomer. They’re crepes! IMHO, Dutch syrup is definitely niet lekker. Ugh. It joins the ranks of untasty Dutch foods like genever, local salad dressing, buttermilk (😵💫) and the overhyped bitterballen( especially those from FEBO). On the other hand , rijsttafel, poffertjes and Dutch beer are uitstekend! 🍻
How the hell does a place this small stay in business? 🤦♂️ I lived in Amsterdam from 1996-2000 and have visited often since. That place looks familiar. I once went to a place advertised as “the thinnest restaurant in Holland.” It served Dutch lunch/dinner food, not pancakes. Any chance it was this place? Hmmm…..

That is accurate. My Dutch colleague lived in a small rural village near Deventer. His house was next to 2 farms. My girlfriend and I spent a weekend there. His farmer neighbor came by( wearing actual wooden clogs) and dropped off fresh white asparagus and eggs. I found more authentic Dutch food in cities like Deventer, Amersfoort, Arnhem, Groningen and Vaals. Eet smakelijk!

It's so much different and not that flat like the north west. Ofcourse you need to see Valkenburg, Maastricht (Heuvelland Vaals). 😃

As a Dutchie I think that Amsterdam has become one big tourist trap. If you want to see and eat real Dutch food, travel at least 15 miles outside it.
We agree that it is hard with large cities to try and find authentic places to eat. But we will keep trying! Thanks for watching!
