      Hi Sarah I'm 52 year old Scottish man here in England UK, iv had contamination reassurance seeking OCD and paxil 60mg I took for years and did not help. I'm now on 150 mg sertraline, my marriage is ruined with constantly seeking reassurance basically about touching things and contaminating them if I haven't washed my hands. I'm so depressed because of it , I'm getting therapy CBT councelling, she phones me for up to an hour once a week, but now doesnt know what to do with me .

    I’ve been on Zoloft for 2 months . Things that use to get to me don’t get to me as much i don’t dwell on things and let those negative and irritable thoughts ruin my day . My days seems to be easier to get through . My head seems clearer . I’m a 36 yr old male

    Thank you Sarah for these videos. On the first day of taking Zoloft I found your channel and the comfort it gave me was amazing. I really was so scared but I knew that unless I took that step I would continue to struggle with overwhelming anxiety. I had spent twelve months trying everything I could to help myself, diet, exercise, magnesium, fish oil, positive thinking…. Nothing was helping. Every day was an effort for me to override the continuous anxiety ridden thoughts. It was affecting my role as a wife and mother. My children were constant asking me how I felt. I knew I needed help.
    I am heading in to my fourth week and everything seems to have clicked in to place. I still have anxious thoughts but the medication is keeping me calm and it doesn’t feel so overwhelming. I am waking up full of hope and looking forward to each day.
    I tried so hard to avoid medication because I somehow felt it would make me seem weak, now I wish I had taken it sooner.

    I couldn’t agree more with you! After 5 years battling agoraphobia, I was able to move from Indiana to California! You should have seen my moms face when I showed up to her house, standing on her front porch, in California, for Christmas! Amazing!! She kept saying, “this is so surreal that you are standing here!”
    Zoloft has been a life changer! I am soooo grateful I made the decision to take it, despite my fear of the side effects! It’s not bad at all. Tired, a little nausea. I’ll take it for a much greater and better life! On 100 MG here! It took about 5 months for me to trust and get up to 100 MG. Seems to work very well for my panic/agoraphobia/depression. I do take a tiny bit of Lorazepam, if needed. In 6 months, I may have taken about 2 mg in total.
    Congrats on your life being soooo much better and greater each day!
    Your videos have been helpful for me! I appreciate your openness and on going moving forward ability!

    Tomorrow will be my first day starting Zoloft,it’s MUCH needed! I have struggled w/terrible anxiety and depression most of my life. I just spent 70 days in Cleveland Clinic I was pregnant and got Covid and my lungs failed, and I had to be put in for an emergency C-section, and they put an ECMO a ventilator in me, and on the baby I almost didn’t make it several times. After waking up months into it unable to walk, I just met my baby at eight weeks old not to mention my mom committed suicide 10 years ago right on Christmas and I’m struggling a lot right now. I always have bad side effects of medication and I was on a medication before I went in the hospital for 10 years that didn’t work which was a factor. So I’m due to start in the morning and I found your video and found it extremely helpful. I know not everything is for everyone but it gave me a lot of hope, I hope everything continues to go well for you because I have a big family my husband and I and we have seven kids and I’ve been married since I was 18 years old and I really just need to be OK for myself and everyone included. Thank you for sharing your journey. ❤

      I really hope it works for you and I’m so sorry for everything you’ve been through. Hoping for better days for u and your family❤ zoloft has helped me so much so far, I started it 7 months ago and it helped my anxiety and depression tremendously!!! I was finally able to feel somewhat ready to start working again, I got a job, and have been working every since and I’m amazed at how little anxiety Iv felt at work, after work, and in general. I’m able to socialize more than I have in years, I’m able to make it to work on time, able to wake up and get thru the day without panic attacks, I’m just genuinely shocked at how well it’s worked for me considering Iv been on many medications before this. I was on this years ago but at the time I was smoking daily and taking other drugs and I made sure that before I started this that I was fully sober. I really hope it helps u as much as it has for me 😩🤍🤍

      @@Michaela.x wow ty so much!!! You don’t understand how much hearing from you means I have yet to start it because I was too afraid…… I keep saying in the morning because my doctor said the first two weeks are awful!! He said anxiety and depression and snappiness are at an all time high. Did you experience this? I’m starting at a super low dose of 25.

    • @Michaela.x
      @Michaela.x Год назад +1

      @@Italianqueen I honestly never heard of that and it didn’t happen to me so that’s interesting. If u start at that low dose and very slowly work your way up I think u will be fine!! And always remember it doesn’t work right away. It takes 4-8 weeks of being on it to start to notice changes and over even more time u should notice it more ofc! Only side effect I got was I increased my dose too fast when I started it and was barely eating the days I started it because Iv always had an appetite problem so it made me a bit dizzy and weird feeling but it only last a couple hours. (And it’s actually helped improve my eating a lot too!) it’s been such a blessing for me and ofc my mental health isn’t perfect but it’s much better and way more manageable! Also remember to not get discouraged if you start and take this med for a few months and don’t notice it’s helped because there’s more safe medications to try for anxiety and depression but definitely give it a lot of time first. If you ever want to talk more you can dm me on insta, my username is michaela_nicholson 💗

      @@Michaela.x Thank you so much for your comment and your experience it really does help to hear from someone who’s been in the same situation. I started it a few weeks ago,it’s such a low dose 25mg,but I think like you mentioned going up gradually will be the key. You mentioned you went up to fast,do you mind me asking how fast you went up?? They said 25 is a pediatric dose but I always have side affects from EVERYTHING LOL so slowly is better for me..

    • @Michaela.x
      @Michaela.x Год назад +1

      @@Italianqueen honestly I don’t remember exactly but I think I had only been on 25 for like 5 days then I went to 50 and then 75 within 3 days bc I was trying to speed up the process of getting to a higher dose (since Iv been on it before and know I would need at least 100mg) and yea I def should’ve waited a week or more after starting and going up but like I said, I didn’t get any crazy side effects, that little dizzyness was the only thing I noticed and Iv had much worse side effects from meds so that was nothing. Also when u go up to 50 and whatever dose u eventually get up to, I would cut one of the pills in half instead of taking 2 full 25s. I would take one full 25 and cut one in half so your not doubling your dose. (this will just minimize the chance u feel side effects as well but it’s unlikely anyway) I’m on 200 mg now btw which I think is the highest or close to the highest dose recommended for anxiety and I don’t have any side effects. Iv been on this dose for a few months now and haven’t noticed anything which I’m happy about bc I also tend to be sensitive to any meds in my body

      Just got a prescription for 50mg the other day, haven't started taking it yet but I have severe anxiety that creates a level of paranoia and panic attacks in any social interaction, irrational thoughts ect.. Didn't always used to have it, but here we are..

    So I'm curious.. Still on Zoloft 200mg today 07/2024?? Is your profile Pic and shorts what you look like now? If so, I'm assuming you have lost quite and bit and didn't gain on Zoloft. Just wondering (42 yr old male on 100mg)

      No, I am not taking any medication and am doing well… aside from the anxiety. I try to keep to my morning runs for that. I’ve also lost weight.. I was briefly homeless this past year and that really affected my weight. I’m happy to report that I am housed and doing better. I also really like living alone but it can be very isolating.

      @@_SarahElizabeth oh geez tough stuff there but awesome that your doing so much better now for sure! When you were taking meds, what MG did you really feel something while taking Zoloft? I started at 50 and now 100 and to be honest I'm not really feeling anything on it yet. 🤷🤦

    I’m on 450mg of Wellbutrin and it is like taking a placebo as are other ones I tried including Zoloft. Time to try psychedelics. First stop will be ketamine since it is legal.

      Zoloft was horrible for me. Took it 8 months and it was the worst 8 months ever. I slept all the time. No energy. Fatigue. I'm now on prozac and it's so much better.

      Hi, I was on Zoloft during my teenage years. Maybe it was 2 or 3 years. I went off it on my own, despite my psychiatrist not agreeing with me. I am choosing to live my life how I want to live it and not be afraid to struggle and have emotions. I am choosing to be ok with having emotions, feeling suicidal at times, and despair. I decided that there is nothing wrong with me. This is my life and this is how I want to live it. My life is flavorful and meaningful. It's hard, and a process. I'm working on myself without the help of a therapist and I'm choosing to be ok with all that I am. I am capable and I have G-d. I've chosen to find the answers from within and to trust myself. You all can do what you want and you are not me. But this is the best decision I ever made and the greatest satisfaction to me is trusting myself and seeing that I really can do it and succeed by choosing to go about it my way. P.S. I also have ADD and don't take Ritalin and I've discovered that I don't need it to succeed and that it's ok to be who I am without it. I didn't feel myself with either meds. I am a piece of artwork and don't need to be what others think I need to be. We are all beautiful lights. We are perfectly unperfect. Let yourself shine.
