Tried tons of things for my depression over several years. Yoga, psychotherapy, excersise, positive thinking and many many more. Nothing helped, 8 just got worse. Tried 25mg sertraline, 7 days later was massively dramatically improved. Take maximum dose daily for 15 years, cannot live without it. No side effects.

I have taken Sertaine for the last five years, it has been a wonderful drug because all my life I suffered from a panic disorder after my brother was murdered when I was five years old, and although experts say these only last for 20 minutes to max an hour, my symptoms were all the time every day. Sertlaine has stopped my panic completely and I never felt drugged or any effect except for one major side effect and that is insomnia. I was always a poor sleeper but since I went on Sertlaine it has become chronic. So would I rather suffer from panic attacks all day long or find I get two nights sleep out of seven for about a total of six hours, well it's a no brainer, I will endure insomnia and forgo panic attacks, I can rest during the day when my body is exhausted but the panic nearly drove me insane, I hope this might help someone out there, best wishes to all, cheers

Sertraline is an antidepressant, not a benzodiazepine, which are depressants that produce sedation and hypnosis, relieve anxiety and muscle spasms, and reduce seizures, but CAN be addictive; they are controlled because they can have dangerous effects, especially when misused. They can also be habit-forming. By contrast, Zoloft, when taken as prescribed, is not considered addictive. In fact, research shows it’s tolerated well by most people who take it. It doesn’t produce a euphoric high or cause cravings, like substances abused for recreational purposes do. Now, If you stop taking Zoloft abruptly, you can experience withdrawal symptoms. Tapering off of an SSRI gradually and under medical supervision is always recommended.

How does Lustral work? We don't really know. Why does it work for some people and not others? We don't know. It makes perfect sense. Lustral has little or no clinical effectiveness above and beyond its placebo effects. Hence, it depends on whether the patient is a good placebo responder. QED.

Hello Doctor, I have been on 200mg of sertraline for the past 3 months and my intrusive thoughts are still persisting and causing a great deal of distress and suffering. I did some research online and found that doses of sertraline can go up to 400mg for OCD non-responders, showing greater symptom improvement than those in the 200mg group enrolled in the trial. It also showed similar adverse event rates.
Are clinicians in the UK authorised to prescribe doses exceeding 200mg for those with treatment resistant OCD?

I am on Sertraline 200mg, and Mirtazapine 30 mg daily. They help but the body adjusts and ends up tolerant of them. Unless you really need them, try exercising, and everything else first, because once your on these, your not coming off them ever.

You should be ashamed to spread that nonsense. Not asking to be believed, just inviting good faith visitors who might not know any better to consult serious and scientific info about tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal likelihood on sertraline. Exercise , on the other hand will almost always be a good idea, but discuss it with your MD to find the best option for you.
