Hi! I’m a 21 year old Italian girl andI’ve been taking Zoloft (50 mg) for three months now. I suffered from severe depression, anxiety and binge eating.
I constantly isolated myself from people and my life was a nightmare so I finally dedicate to take this medication.
I feel so much better and I’m socialising a lot more than before. I feel like I’m living my life.
I surprisingly lost a lot of weight, maybe because I stopped binging all day.
Mental health is so important.

Anyone starting this medication should be aware that it in fact takes a good three MONTHS for Sertraline to take full effect. It can also be quite a bumpy ride to get to that point but the results ARE worth it.
😭 I’m scared. My doc prescribed it to me today. I’m scared to be on it
@@KaylaAnnB Don't be scared. Only you know how bad your anxiety/depression is. For my own situation, I'd had a complete mental breakdown, so meds were the only answer. Previously, I'd been a high functioning person with OCD and anxiety for some 20-odd years. These meds have definitely helped me but it does take a while to adjust to them and it's important people know this.
@@victoriawilson7292 yeah I am high functioning but started to take zoloft last week. But I am wondering If it will make me less high functioning and dependent
@@solomonKachi7000 I managed 23 years as a high-functioning anxious person, who never took any medication, let alone ADs. But when I had a full-on mental breakdown last October, ADs were the only thing that were going to get me anywhere near better. If your anxiety is truly debilitating, I'd say to stay on the meds. However, if you feel you can cope without then I would certainly try to.
@@victoriawilson7292 yeah I feel like I can cope without them. I really just want more motivation and focus but I think I might have fatigue issues or adhd so I will have to check that. Having no anxiety is nice but I somehow feel less … dynamic ? Idk it’s kind of nice I guess but idk. Thanks for responding though, I hope I figure it out
I’ve dealt with anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, ocd, and who know how many other things for ~10 years and I’ve never been treated. I’ve dealt with it in silence and if people only knew what went on in my head I’d probably be in a psych ward, and I wouldn’t complain (if I’m being honest), many times I’ve desperately wanted to be admitted into one. Anyways, I had an appointment yesterday with a new pcp and he sent me the prescription; I just took half of a 50mg, it’ll be that for a week and then 50mg for 82 days and after reading these comments, I’m terrified.
Update: I’m one week in and I haven’t felt like this in years… I felt like I was woken up from a spell and I’m slowly recovering and feeling like myself again, I’m feeling calm and concentrated. Every day I feel better 🙌🏻
update?
How are you now?
Been taking anti depressants so far and it has improved the quality of life. But here is the twist folks: MEDICATION is not going to SOLVE all of your PROBLEMS. YOU have to put in the inner work so that the medication can work with you, you have to help yourself first before the medication helps you, here are some couple methods I think that can help improve the quality of your life:
1. Getting a new job
2. Cut out toxic friends and make new ones
3. Stop chasing relationships
4. Start making decisions for yourself
5. Control your ego, treat every person you come across in life with equal respect regardless of what position or status he or she holds
6. Go back to school, get an education learn a new skill
7. Make decisions for yourself, if you wanna do it, do it, if you don’t then don’t
8. Delete or limit social media (this is literally the biggest reason why people have so much anxiety and depression these days)
6. Stop chasing the approval of others.
7. Stop watching stupid videos or music that revolve around anxiety or depression (self help bs)
Do all of this, take your medication, and your life will improve.

@@JHPMedicalUK Hello, I have been on 200mg of sertraline for the past 3 months and my intrusive thoughts are still persisting and causing me untold distress and suffering. I did some research online and found that doses of sertraline can go up to 400mg for OCD non-responders, showing greater symptom improvement than those in the 200mg group enrolled in the trial. It also showed similar adverse event rates.
Are clinicians in the UK authorised to prescribe doses exceeding 200mg for those with treatment resistant OCD?
Saved my life. It started working within the first few days of taking it. I'm only getting 50mg/d. When it kicked in I couldn't stop smiling, after years of depression, anxiety and suicide attepts, it was truly surreal. For a long time, I had been feeling like my former self had died and I was stranger in this body. But Sertraline made me feel like myself again. I've been on the medication for 1,5 year and the plan seems for me to stay on it indefinitely?
Zoloft isn’t the kind of medication to start working within “the first few days”, it takes at least 2 weeks to notice an improvement. I’m glad it’s working for you now, but what you might have experienced within the first few days of initiating the treatment was most likely a placebo effect
thanks for the review. I am starting mine now .

We have reasonable theories on its mechanism of action, but we don't know all of the neurotransmitters and receptors involved, let alone the downstream effects. Used it for 10 years now, not sure if it saved or ruined my life. I think for most people it helps, maybe even for me, but the last 6 months I have been back 10 years to how bad I was then. Maybe I need to increase the dose? Like today I had a good morning, then I take sertralin and my head feels so weird so I end up in bed. I could feel it doing something from week 2 but it felt like I was trapped in the breaking bad meth lab it can still be like that from time to time. It's not working great for depression but less suicidal thoughts and tears. And I suffer from panic attacks and intense fear and hypersensitivity to just about any noise and all these have toned down a bit. I'm thinking up upping the dose to 100mg but I think you have to know when to hold them know when to fold them and from what I have seen with many other people on a higher dose very few have a better reaction but some do. I just feel upping my dose is cutting out a future option if the medication starts to poop out. Ultimately I will never be completely right as I haven't been in 30 years medication or not. I am suffering from agoraphobia and panic attacks. Can sertraline treat me if I start low dose 25mg?
Ask your primary…
I work night shift do I still take it in the day time when I'm going bed or I take it at night when I start work ?
I also work night shift and I take it in the evening before work with my breakfast
What to do if you think your zoloft stop working after 22 years
Did you ever find out, did you make any changes?
Been on it for 4 weeks now . Still waiting for it to work 🥺😭.
Your dose ?
What's the best way to wean off 25mg Sertraline? Have taken for 18 months but have been recommended to switch to Agomelatine, harder than I expected.
Hi. Why is caffeine never mentioned ? Caffeine is a stimulant of the central nervous system and impacts the brains chemistry. Surely it must alter the affects of anti depressants ? People with depression can typically take large amounts of caffeine. I manage my symptoms with as much as 8-10 shots of espresso per day. Now I have been prescribed Sertraline , and I am nervous to take it with such high amounts of caffeine, yet doctors never mention caffeine. Why is this ? Please could you clarify the situation when it comes to taking caffeine with these medications. Thank you
8-10 shots? Damn dude.
I have been taking sertaline for 6 days i am angry and fighting what could be the reason ?

Anyone on here taken it for 5 + years? Curious to know if they still feel positively about it.
So does the effects last once you stop taking it or will the symptoms come back? 🤔
You need B. Complex, magnesium, vitamin D and seamoss

I’m on sertraline for years on and off they help me but the side effects make me feel sick and the brain ends up overriding it and you end up feeling the same as you did unless you get the dose upped but makes you feel even more nauseous. I think I need treatment for adhd.

You can try breathing exercises, therapy that focuses on CBT and even exposure therapy. Tapping may also be helpful. If all that fails you can ask your doctor about propranolol to treat this.
talk to a doctor / psychiatrist

I've started at 50mg been on sertraline for 3 days now I hear people start at 25mg for a week before moving up is it bad that I've started at 50mg??
I started on 50 mg as well… but have been taking half dosages for the past four days. Tomorrow is my first full 50mg dosage. So far I don’t feel any different, but it does take time so… we’ll see. I just hope it helps.
Got these today, my problem is just my anxiety basically overthinking, scared to take them tho as my bad and sad thoughts only come when i'm sat down or thinking, seeing a lot of people have side effects can someone explain
Im scared to try my medication too my doctor told me the first 2 weeks are rough
There is nothing to be afraid of. I was like you once upon a time and I was scared to take them . But if I wanted to feel better I had to take them and honestly it did work after 2 to 3 wks I was feeling so much better.. No need to suffer I had very severe depression and anxiety and it worked wonders for me.. I know we are all different but you won't know if you don't try it .

I'm finding very little on interactions with kratom. It sounds like it should be taken at least 2 hours before or two hours after if you take Zoloft.
I started taking zoloft 2 days ago and have been taking my kratom and have been fine. Also I made a reddit post and it seemed like from the comments people were fine with kratom and zoloft
My psychiatrist said I have to stop taking Kratom for him to prescribe new medication or refil existing meds I’m already on because they interact. What should I do take Kava & 5-HTP or Suboxone??
My son was on it for 6 months and i almost have him off it not a great experience for us .
I felt it amplified is bad qualities and totally messed his sleep up a child that always slept well now I can’t get him to sleep .
Just horrible .

Does anyone take this medication as needed and not everyday? My doctor told me only take when I’m about my period and during and then get off immediately
That’s not how it works…
Been taking it for 10 days now 50mg and still feel anxiety and a bit depressed still.
Hi, sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for sharing with our community.
I'm starting tomorrow, does anyone know if helping with flight panic?
I started taking it for the first time to handle
My panic attacks & anxiety. The pharmacist & doctor told me tho it’ll be a bumpy ride with my anxiety as the first 2-3 weeks to adjust. I’m hoping it’ll stop my panic attacks to which I’ve started getting this year. I quit drinking in early January and since then my anxiety and panic attacks became a daily thing
Due to an immediate onset of massive panic attacks, I needed to take Sertraline longer than I did take it but it caused so many unwanted side effects. It made me have a case of tremors, made me lethargic, gave me a lack of connection to anything - including having empathy or desire for involvement and, of course, major weight gain (about 20 lbs.) Now that I'm off of it, I'm happy again and driven to accomplish so many things in life, including being the very best in my career BUT, I do start to have a panic attacks again, particularly waking me up at night just like before, so.... ?
There are other widely available medications that will help you with panic attacks. Talk to your doctor. It's okay to tell them you want to stop taking Sertraline if it's not working out for you.
@@ellewebb927 wow, that’s interesting. Thanks
Psychedelic’s definitely have potential to deal with mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, I would like to try them again but it’s just so hard to source here
Psychedelics are the reason why i didn’t take my life when i was at my end. I was stripped of my ego and saw the beauty of life and interconnectivity and even though i still battle anxiety and depression, I’m doing better everyday and will never think in such a self destructive way again.
LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself
This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."

Sertraline gave me a constant brain fog and fatigue. Also mild constipation and sexual dysfunction. The brain fog was the worst though. I had a car accident, and made numerous silly mistakes at work. I’m off it now (trying CBD instead) and my general life experience is much better. That’s just me though. Who knows what the future holds, but it doesn’t include Zoloft.
When u were taking it were u able to get pass the SD? Or did it take getting off it for that desire to come back? This is my only concern on getting on it.
Keep talking with your doctor. CBD is nothing more than snake oil.

I was just prescribed this medication. I’m so scared it’s permanent. Can people heal on this and get off meds
I don't say these words lightly, as I know what is at stake. PLEASE do not start taking SSRI medication. You will not be able to stop. Every time you try, you will relapse and you will return to the medication, as there will be no other choice. It's a trap you won't be able to climb out of. Millions of people are already caught in this trap. I am qualified to say this as I have been trapped for 15 years desperately trying to find a way to heal my brain (IMHO) so badly damaged by this drug. My heartbreaking research of long term users of SSRI medications sadly confirms my own experience. Also, please research a condition called PSSD (Post SSRI sexual disfunction). It's real, it's affecting so many people and to-date there is no cure. Depression is treatable without Antidepressant medication; it involves a lot of hard work and determination, a change of lifestyle that in addition will improve your life in so many other ways both psychologically and physiologically, but only if you don't go down the SSRI route.
Do not touch this
