Hi! I’m a 21 year old Italian girl andI’ve been taking Zoloft (50 mg) for three months now. I suffered from severe depression, anxiety and binge eating.
I constantly isolated myself from people and my life was a nightmare so I finally dedicate to take this medication.
I feel so much better and I’m socialising a lot more than before. I feel like I’m living my life.
I surprisingly lost a lot of weight, maybe because I stopped binging all day.
    Mental health is so important.

I’ve dealt with anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, ocd, and who know how many other things for ~10 years and I’ve never been treated. I’ve dealt with it in silence and if people only knew what went on in my head I’d probably be in a psych ward, and I wouldn’t complain (if I’m being honest), many times I’ve desperately wanted to be admitted into one. Anyways, I had an appointment yesterday with a new pcp and he sent me the prescription; I just took half of a 50mg, it’ll be that for a week and then 50mg for 82 days and after reading these comments, I’m terrified.
Update: I’m one week in and I haven’t felt like this in years… I felt like I was woken up from a spell and I’m slowly recovering and feeling like myself again, I’m feeling calm and concentrated. Every day I feel better 🙌🏻

Been taking anti depressants so far and it has improved the quality of life. But here is the twist folks: MEDICATION is not going to SOLVE all of your PROBLEMS. YOU have to put in the inner work so that the medication can work with you, you have to help yourself first before the medication helps you, here are some couple methods I think that can help improve the quality of your life:
      1. Getting a new job
      2. Cut out toxic friends and make new ones
      3. Stop chasing relationships
      4. Start making decisions for yourself
      5. Control your ego, treat every person you come across in life with equal respect regardless of what position or status he or she holds
      6. Go back to school, get an education learn a new skill
      7. Make decisions for yourself, if you wanna do it, do it, if you don’t then don’t
      8. Delete or limit social media (this is literally the biggest reason why people have so much anxiety and depression these days)
      6. Stop chasing the approval of others.
      7. Stop watching stupid videos or music that revolve around anxiety or depression (self help bs)
Do all of this, take your medication, and your life will improve.

Used it for 10 years now, not sure if it saved or ruined my life. I think for most people it helps, maybe even for me, but the last 6 months I have been back 10 years to how bad I was then. Maybe I need to increase the dose? Like today I had a good morning, then I take sertralin and my head feels so weird so I end up in bed. My hope is to get off it entirely, but thats unlikely with my extreme anxiety. Considering to try Lexapro but the thought of swapping is incredibly scary. Maybe I need to try take it in the evening so I can sleep to through the worst, though I already have nightmares every single day for 10 years.. What a way to live, my heart goes out to anyone struggeling out there. 😔

Definitely have aome side effects but i dont think its worth losing the happiness im feeling right now over them. Been on setraline for 7 month now it genuinely took 5 months to work at a level where I could actually say life was a bit better. I could feel it doing something from week 2 but it felt like I was trapped in the breaking bad meth lab it can still be like that from time to time. It's not working great for depression but less suicidal thoughts and tears. And I suffer from panic attacks and intense fear and hypersensitivity to just about any noise and all these have toned down a bit. I'm thinking up upping the dose to 100mg but I think you have to know when to hold them know when to fold them and from what I have seen with many other people on a higher dose very few have a better reaction but some do. I just feel upping my dose is cutting out a future option if the medication starts to poop out. Ultimately I will never be completely right as I haven't been in 30 years medication or not. I'm wired incorrectly and that's that I try to work on acceptance that this is the way its going to be and that I have to live with GAD and MMD . shit happens hey. My panic attacks & anxiety. The pharmacist & doctor told me tho it’ll be a bumpy ride with my anxiety as the first 2-3 weeks to adjust. I’m hoping it’ll stop my panic attacks to which I’ve started getting this year. I quit drinking in early January and since then my anxiety and panic attacks became a daily thing

Due to an immediate onset of massive panic attacks, I needed to take Sertraline longer than I did take it but it caused so many unwanted side effects. It made me have a case of tremors, made me lethargic, gave me a lack of connection to anything - including having empathy or desire for involvement and, of course, major weight gain (about 20 lbs.) Now that I'm off of it, I'm happy again and driven to accomplish so many things in life, including being the very best in my career BUT, I do start to have a panic attacks again, particularly waking me up at night just like before, so.... ?

There are other widely available medications that will help you with panic attacks. Talk to your doctor. It's okay to tell them you want to stop taking Sertraline if it's not working out for you.

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself
This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."

Sertraline gave me a constant brain fog and fatigue. Also mild constipation and sexual dysfunction. The brain fog was the worst though. I had a car accident, and made numerous silly mistakes at work. I’m off it now (trying CBD instead) and my general life experience is much better. That’s just me though. Who knows what the future holds, but it doesn’t include Zoloft.

I don't say these words lightly, as I know what is at stake. PLEASE do not start taking SSRI medication. You will not be able to stop. Every time you try, you will relapse and you will return to the medication, as there will be no other choice. It's a trap you won't be able to climb out of. Millions of people are already caught in this trap. I am qualified to say this as I have been trapped for 15 years desperately trying to find a way to heal my brain (IMHO) so badly damaged by this drug. My heartbreaking research of long term users of SSRI medications sadly confirms my own experience. Also, please research a condition called PSSD (Post SSRI sexual disfunction). It's real, it's affecting so many people and to-date there is no cure. Depression is treatable without Antidepressant medication; it involves a lot of hard work and determination, a change of lifestyle that in addition will improve your life in so many other ways both psychologically and physiologically, but only if you don't go down the SSRI route.
