Would you please make a video about Auvelity? I was googling. looking to see if there was a faster acting antidepressant and came upon this medication I had never even heard of. It's a mix of Buproprion and another chemical (?) and supoossedly starts working in just a few days.

I completely lost my appetite and felt so out of it. i'm going through a really stressful time so the side effects seem to take forever to pass.I was wondering if anyone (us on youtube who watch you-thanks so much) can call you for a consult or is that only for becoming a patient? I've had to deal with depression my entire life. Escitalopram helped me so much. grades went up in school, social life improved. Its helped so much. Like night and day.
Never had Sertraline. Escitaloprame was my first antidepressant. It worked very well against my panic disorder. It saved my life. Great stuff. By the way my Qtc didn't change under therapy. Luckily never had any sexual dysfunction. I'm on 15 mg since 2015
Perfect timing being I have been on both of these in the last month lol! I do like the more energetic feeling that zoloft gives me over the lexapro. I felt more lethargic or tired on the lexapro for some reason. Great video!
I took zoloft for about 6 years, by the time I stopped I was taking 200mg daily. It certainly helped my anxiety in the beginning but after a while it didn’t feel like it was working at all. I’ve been off it for about 2 years now and my doctor prescribed me lexapro. I am hesitant but crossing my fingers that it will help me. This video helped in regards to what I should expect - thank you!
Among the 5 antidepressants I've tried, escitalopram (Lexapro) gave me the worst sexual dysfunction, even at low dose (5mg), and didn't help with my anxiety. I decided to stop after a few weeks. Recently I started taking sertraline (Zoloft) and I think I've finally found the right AD because my problem is more social anxiety and rumination than characterized depression. I'm starting to feel better, more relaxed, and the sexual side effects are milder than expected. A lot of fatigue during the first 2 weeks.
@@Bilmonis this is my day 5 on escitalopram and I don't feel it did something to my social anxiety but it definitely improved my mood, I tryed paroxetin before and it helped sooo much with my social anxiety, I literally felt free thanks to that pill
I suffer from panic disorder and anxiety. I am also taking Ativan (lorazepam) 2mg daily. I was prescriped Zoloft but once we increased the dose to 50mg I had increased anxiety and nausea. I have now switched to Lexapro.

Zoloft was horrible made me feel numb, horrible sexual side affects, and made my body trembles . There’s no reason why doctors can’t disclose this to patients . At 30 years young (male) the dumb psychiatrist tried to offer me viagra and I was so pissed off I completely got off the medication and switched to lexapro . Smh .
Hey I hope you are well I’m in your age and I suffer with anxiety and chest pain and it gives me health anxiety would be possible to talk with you for chat I’m taking sertraline 200 mg but it doesn’t help me
@@marekpiekarek I switched to lexapro & it has helped tremendously. Zoloft was way too strong for me . Only thing about lexapro the first week or two it will increase your anxiety before it starts cooling off after a month or two you should feel the full affects . I use to get health anxiety also especially on Zoloft .
Very good comparison. As a person who was discussing both with my psychiatrist, this simple video was: - Really on point - Used data to reach conclusions - And gave much more info than my psychiatrist gave lol. Thank you very much for the video ! Deeply appreciated, and sending lots of love !
I am starting on Zoloft, never taken any anti-depressants before. I have bad social anxiety and agoraphobia, plus negative self-talk and overthinking, which can spiral to full on depression and apathy towards life. I am hoping it will help, from what I gathered setraline seems to be preferable choice for people who have depression anxiety mixed symptoms (often related to trauma).
Tried both. Lexapro gave me the WORST panic attack of all time. I literally wanted to die because I couldn’t bear another second of the panic attack. Currently on Zoloft now and it’s been a lot better for me. Everyone needs to realize that each and every person is going to react differently to different drugs. You just have to try it for yourself and see how you feel. PATIENCE is KEY… again, PATIENCE!!! It could take MONTHS to feel relieved of your symptoms.
I have taken Escitalopram for many years, on and off and it has helped me greatly with anxiety, depression and panic attacks. The only draw back for me is that my skin reacts badly with dermatitis, plus it decreases libido. I'm thinking of switching back to Sertraline.
Hi doctor this is Ranjith from India again...first of all i want to thank you for sharing your knowledge and info,i got know lot of things by all your videos.i feel very confident by watching your videos, really loads of love from India....-Ranjith
How can I raise my energy levels while on lexapro? I feel so unmotivated and fatigued. I can easily sit on my couch for hours just staring at the wall.
Talk to your doctor about it, and ask in adding Bupropion would be appropriate. Also, check thorough labs to be sure there aren't underlying problems like cortisol dysregulation, anemia, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid problems, etc.
I’ve been on lexapro for the last 3 years , and it has improved my life drastically. However, the past 4 months it’s been really hard to get out of bed, or even shower. I’m not “sad” though, but I have zero motivation. My anxiety has also been increasing, as I feel more reclusive. It might be time for a switch.
@@SN-hg6bxI have the same problem after taking Lexapro for a year now. Maybe I should talk to my aft about adding Wellbutrin? I too feel tired and lazy and unmotivated with Lexapro although it does help with anxiety overthinking. I do like Lexapro but again I’m tired a lot when I shouldn’t be because I sleep really good and I don’t have a stressful lifestyle.
madam i like your videos The reason for this is that nowadays all the doctors and pharmacists and anyone who has knowledge about medicine, your knowledge and style and your description, I have seen so far on RUclips and most of all yours is good.
Thank you for explaining! I was on klonopin and Zoloft years ago. It helped a lot. Then due to my anxiety returning recently, I started Zoloft again. It has helped tremendously on a low dose. BUT since taking Zoloft a few months ago I have been clenching. Mainly at night and waking up to my jaw and mouth being real sore. I’ve tried to be mindful but nothing stops it. In short I’m weaning off Zoloft and getting ready to try lexapro… I hope it relieves the clenching because I’m tired of waking up with a sore mouth and headaches🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
I am taking sertaline 50mg/day since last 6 yrs but now am facing it's side-effects, let me consult with my doc and will switch to Lexapro. I will update you guys with my Lexapro experience After 1 month from today.

I tried both, lexapro is amazing but it decreased my libido too much, also it made me feel careless and have no urge to live and enjoy nice moments. Zoloft is good but it caused insomnia
I was prescribed sertraline for PMS. I developed PSSD. It's been 10 years. My life is ruined. It is absolutely disgusting that doctors don't warn patients that they could be permanently chemically castrated.
The only thing I can add. You have to listen to your body. Foods for brain browse. Essential. Also exercise produci g neurotransmitters. Browse. Quicker that way. And put yourself first. There is no otherwise. I can't agree more with you. I trusted all these lies. It took my life away
Sorry for that 😥. Did you try to get back on them to see if the situation can be reversed? I am not sure if it works but there might be a possibility. Aside from that have you checked all your essential hormones?
@@billtheo7476 All my hormones, blood panel and neurological tests are normal. I am not going back on the SSRIs as I know so many people with PSSD who tried reinstatement and it didn't work. There is emerging evidence that PSSD is a form of Small Fibre Neuropathy after 36 people ALL tested positive for SFN in Finland. If this is the case, I hope that psychiatrists and prescribers take a long hard look at themselves and ask why they were willing to prescribe SSRIs without informing people of the risk of permanent nerve damage. The person who does this channel says that PSSD is 'unfortunate'! Informed consent costs nothing.
I used sertraline for a while, started with horrible stomach issues but kinda handled it. But it didn’t go away fully so I stopped and 3-4 months later life was horrible again. Now I’m on benzos but trying opipram. But I really want to have something long time, and escitalopram seems to be quite attractive. We ll see. Thanks for the nice comparison!
I was up to 200 mg sertraline, then tried to come off. Had quite a few "zing" effects, like small brain shocks. Eventually tapered. Perhaps you might compare coming off the medications in future videos.
Well my therapist confirmed my persolan experiece about escitslopran - that it can significantly increase appetite. So its requre a some kind if a diet not to overweight

I haven’t started taking it yet, I’m afraid.
Anytime of day is fine as long as you take it around the same time each day. Some patients will take it at night because it makes them sleepy. Others will take it in the morning because it causes wakefulness. Everyone is different.
I am on Lexapro and as the dose has increased my dreams have become more vivid to the point of nightmarish. When I am awake life is better, though. Any thoughts on the mechanism of action with this. Is it strictly a serotonin phenomenon? Any remedies you heard of for reducing the vivid dreams (in consultation with a healthcare provider)? I'm just curious. I'm not going to do anything on my own.
Yes, this can happen with any antidepressant treatment and it is hypothesized to be related to serotonin. If you are feeling good on Lexapro you can use adjunct treatments such as Trazodone, Prazosin or Gabapentin at bedtime, or even consider some therapies to help. This article may be helpful for you as you are considering treatment options jcsm.aasm.org/doi/10.5664/jcsm.7178 I wish you all the best 🙏🏽
I’ve been on Lexapro for 2 weeks and am completely exhausted. It’s worse than having depression alone. I slept like 15 hours yesterday. I take it at bedtime. My doc told me to go down to 5mg. I cannot explain how tired I am - is this indication that this med is NOT right for me??
@@LevelheadedMind can I work with you to figure out a med/med combo? I’m in Colorado but have family in FL. Do you do genetic testing for meds? I’m not sure if that’s even reliable. Please let me know!
It's very very common to get side effects like that in the first weeks of starting a new medication... that's normal for the first 2 or 3 weeks... but if you persevere-those side effects should greatly lessen after that initial time. But I'd give it 3 or 4 weeks to see how it goes if I were you. Best wishes. 👍
Hi nurse Rosa. I have tried several antidepressants, nothing seems to work or gives me some awful side effects like headaches. Currently my doctor put me on trazadone 100 mg and Zoloft 25mg (will increase to 50 in two weeks) combination therapy What are your views, does this sound like an effective combination? I also exercise, eat healthily and use TDCS stimulation.
I have the worst headaches on lexapro and it’s been over a month. Are you still on something? How are your headaches? Mine come around 4 pm and last til I go to bed. It’s terrible!
I have been on Zoloft for over 6 years but I recently stopped taking in October because I have always had trouble keeping a job for longer then a year or two and I thought it was because of the meds. This past year has been the worst for me and just last week and this week because I am not over it was the most embarrassing time and the lowest I have ever been in my life. Last week I had to give up a job where I was at for only 2 days. The jobs I had last year were not so much better. One job I lasted 6 months, the other 3 months while taking Zoloft. In November I picked up a temporary job that last 2 months and I did very well and I was off of Zoloft for a total of 6 weeks. However last week the job where I only lasted 2 days I started taking Zoloft again the week before the job because I felt nervous again and ya I only lasted 2 days I am thinking becoming I am starting all over again with the med cycle and it threw my body out of wack. Now……. My doctor prescribed me lexapro. I have taken it for just 4 days and I feel completely out it and having the worst anxiety and panic attacks I have ever had. But I do feel a deference from Zoloft I can’t tell if it is good or not. I took Zoloft today because I am such at a low point but I feel defeated because I already tried Zoloft for so long and what I thought it was not working maybe it was because I have never been like I am these last couple of weeks.

you need to get your shit together and stop blaming medicine. Read some books about anxiety or some self help stuff related to your issues. Try to start meditating. Try natural supplements like NAC, Essential Amino acids, or L-tyrosine.
I have the same issue. I can’t keep a job , I call out a lot because I get nervous or anxious. I also don’t have the motivation or energy to be around people all day. How are you managing your situation?

Yes you can take that combination safely. Just be sure to discuss risks of serotonin syndrome and make sure you are not taking other medications that can increase serotonin.
I personally have zero emotions on Lexapro, my doctor just switched me to zoloft and I'm starting it tomorrow. I've been on Lexapro for almost 10 years and it was great at first but its stopped working for me, anxiety is terrible again, depression is terrible again... 😢😢 really hoping zoloft helps me
Actually, Lexapro is one of the SSRIs that is the most tolerated and is the only antidepressant, besides Prozac that is also FDA approved for use in children.
Can I use Metoprolol and Sertraline together? I'm heart patient my age is 32, I'm using Metoprolol for abnormal heart beats. I have used Cipralex 10 MG for more than two years for Anxiety and Phobias, But Cipralex did not cure my Anxiety and Phobias completely. now I'm planning to switch from cipralex to zoloft. So my question is Can I use Metoprolol and Sertraline together? Is there is any Interaction between these two medications? any side effects ? Thank you.
Sertraline can inhibit the metabolism of metprolol meaning your dose of metoprolol may have to be reduced. Have this discussion with your provider before making any medication changes.
I have a friend who thrives on sertraline but not me. I tried 25 mg sertraline for a week and I never felt so bad in my life. Due to the side effects I could hardly eat, slept max 4 hours a night, my whole body felt week, emotionally numb. The good thing was my overstimulation was gone (in a few days). Hey jezel, I had a question if you're able to answer it. I've been on 10 mg Lexapro 3 months or so and direct switched to 100mg zoloft. I'm 3 days into zoloft and feel better, no side effects or issues, would the new ssri kick-in faster or better because I was already on a ssri? Like maybe since I was on Lexapro, I won't experience alot of the negative effects while starting zoloft.? Anyway in theory, let me know what ya think?
Yes, being on an SSRI and going directly to another SSRI will have less side effects and earlier response. Your body was already accustomed to the serotonin increase so that is why no side effects and quicker response.
Hi, very informative and clearly explained. I experienced Bruxism when I took sertraline 25mg. I lefr zoloft. Can you discuss and make video about ssri induced bruxism. Appreciate
I was on sertraline 10mg a while with no results or side effects. Went up to 25MG and got a fast heart rate. So, I stopped, but right before stopping I had the feeling of being less depressed. Anyone experience heart rate issues?
You may want to discuss with your provider about vagus nerve stimulation or even vagus massage techniques can be helpful. Otherwise find a good ENT who can help you.
thank you for the VDO, escitalopram killed libido to 0%. we haven had intimacy for more than 6months already. its destroying our marriage. how to fight back the sexual dysfunction? taking more estrogen? or testosteronal ? however i read online that such estrogens may aggrevate depression. would love to hear your advice. thank you once again.
It’s nothing to do with testosterone, more to do with dopamine and the delicate balance of neurotransmitters needed for libido to function. Best option is to lower dose, or swap to an atypical antidepressant which does not cause this side effect. I ended up with low dose zoloft and trazodone (which does not affect my libido) so I get some benefit from zoloft but keeping the dose low enough that I still have libido and then boosted be trazodone.
But yeah it’s a huge problem with all SSRIs. Some people also have success with vortioxetine which they claim does not affect libido or at least to a lesser extent
I took Sertraline 50 mg for 2 days and it made me very weak, not necessarily sleeping but I was on the bed most of time because I felt like I don't have any strength to get up and I had upset stomach. It was a scary ride. Perhaps 50 mg to start with was a bit too much. M doc changed my med as a whole and now I am taking Escitelopram 10 mg and it is very well tolerated.
That's good to hear that you found something that works. Sometimes people are very sensitive to the effects of serotonin, so I always start low. With sertraline I usually start with 12.5mg if they've been on an antidepressant before.
My 16 year old was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and General Anxiety. Last year she was prescribed 200 mg of Sertraline along with medication for her anxiety. A new doctor under our new insurance has switched her to 20 mg Escitalopram. I'm wondering if there will be long term effects or if the new medication will take some time to kick in.
That depends person to person. What was the reason for the switch? Also did they do a cross taper or just switch it? Cross taper would be best considering she was at highest dose of sertraline. If no cross taper, then there will most likely be an adjustment period and even potential set back or recurrence of symptoms. Check switchRx.com for proper guidance on how to cross taper.
I found Citalopram to be much better. When I was I sertraline my anxiety, heart rate and nausea was much much worse. Give Escitapram a try, it much newer & I found a much more better meditation all round

Hi! I have 2 questions and I hope you see this! If not that’s okay, too :) so I just got put on Zoloft 50mg yesterday and I’m absolutely panicking about all the long term effects people have said it caused them. I’ve seen where they said it’s hell & lexapro is better and all this. So question 1) What is the longest I should give it a try before I develop long term effects? I was terrified to start anything for my anxiety for that very reason but I was no longer able to function great because of it so I decided to try it. Question 2) I also am prescribed 5mg reglan 3x daily and trazadone 50mg as needed for nights I can’t sleep. I’m most worried about serotonin syndrome, so is it okay for me to take the reglan and Zoloft 50mg daily together like that? I’ve stopped taking the reglan 3x and only taking it once bc I’m scared, haha!
Talk to your provider about when to stop, typically 6 months to 1 year, then taper it over 3-6 months depending on how long you were on it. Also be sure to learn de-escalation techniques to reduce anxiety that way you'll be prepared when you come off to reduce anxiety on your own. As for serotonin syndrome, that combination would put you at risk so you will need to monitor for those symptoms.
Everyone reacts differently to medicines cause everyone's body chemistry is slightly different... so just trial with whatever works for you personally-and once you find what works "FOR YOU"-then stick with that. Best wishes 👍

It takes 4 to 6 weeks to see a full effect. You are seeing partial response and will need more time for a full therapeutic effect for both anxiety and depression. Furthermore, you may need to increase dose to get more robust effect, after 8 weeks. So discuss this with your doctor at your follow-up appointment.

Very good comparison.
As a person who was discussing both with my psychiatrist, this simple video was:

I am starting on Zoloft, never taken any anti-depressants before. I have bad social anxiety and agoraphobia, plus negative self-talk and overthinking, which can spiral to full on depression and apathy towards life. I am hoping it will help, from what I gathered setraline seems to be preferable choice for people who have depression anxiety mixed symptoms (often related to trauma).
Lexa chilled me out and with that, I stopped over eating to feel better. So I guess it indirectly helped with weight loss/control
So true! Everyone is different.
Lexapro worked great for me

I have taken Escitalopram for many years, on and off and it has helped me greatly with anxiety, depression and panic attacks. The only draw back for me is that my skin reacts badly with dermatitis, plus it decreases libido. I'm thinking of switching back to Sertraline.
Zoloft was prescribed more frequently than any other antidepressant in the USA in 2018 with over 38 million prescriptions.
You are a genius 👏

Sertraline is not even close to lexapro .
Lexapro is game changer.
You have been on both lexapro and sertraline? What are the biggest differences? is lexapro less activating than zoloft?
How can I raise my energy levels while on lexapro? I feel so unmotivated and fatigued. I can easily sit on my couch for hours just staring at the wall.
Do push ups
Talk to your doctor about it, and ask in adding Bupropion would be appropriate. Also, check thorough labs to be sure there aren't underlying problems like cortisol dysregulation, anemia, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid problems, etc.
It does the same thing to me.
Switch to Prozac
I’ve been on lexapro for the last 3 years , and it has improved my life drastically. However, the past 4 months it’s been really hard to get out of bed, or even shower. I’m not “sad” though, but I have zero motivation. My anxiety has also been increasing, as I feel more reclusive. It might be time for a switch.
Have you considered coupling it with wellbutrin? Dopamine noradrenaline receptors

What time to take should you take lexapro?
This article may be helpful for you as you are considering treatment options jcsm.aasm.org/doi/10.5664/jcsm.7178
I wish you all the best 🙏🏽
I experienced reaaly vivid dreams too, but they went away. I actually miss them. Hope it still works out for you.
I have been taking serta line for 6 days i am angry and fighting what could be the reason ?
I’ve been on Lexapro for 2 weeks and am completely exhausted. It’s worse than having depression alone. I slept like 15 hours yesterday. I take it at bedtime. My doc told me to go down to 5mg. I cannot explain how tired I am - is this indication that this med is NOT right for me??
No necessarily. Remember serotonin is the precursor to melatonin, so sedation is a common side effect. It may indicate serotonin is not your issue.
@@LevelheadedMind can I work with you to figure out a med/med combo? I’m in Colorado but have family in FL. Do you do genetic testing for meds? I’m not sure if that’s even reliable. Please let me know!
@@LevelheadedMindWhat to do in that case ? What antidepressants a person with GAD should take if the sérotonine is not a problèm?

It's very very common to get side effects like that in the first weeks of starting a new medication... that's normal for the first 2 or 3 weeks... but if you persevere-those side effects should greatly lessen after that initial time. But I'd give it 3 or 4 weeks to see how it goes if I were you. Best wishes. 👍

Lexapro helped me but Zoloft made me suicidal for the first time in my life within 20 minutes of my first dose.
Hi nurse Rosa. I have tried several antidepressants, nothing seems to work or gives me some awful side effects like headaches.
Currently my doctor put me on trazadone 100 mg and Zoloft 25mg (will increase to 50 in two weeks) combination therapy
What are your views, does this sound like an effective combination?
I hope you start feeling better again soon.

Yes, being on an SSRI and going directly to another SSRI will have less side effects and earlier response. Your body was already accustomed to the serotonin increase so that is why no side effects and quicker response.

Numb af on lexapro very heavy period and weight gain hot flashes like the worst…. I been off for 5.5 months but still I’m not getting better so I started to talk just 5mg now to half only stay at 10mg my doctor had me bump up to 20 but it feels like to much

Best wishes

New subscriber here! Love your videos. Can you please do a video comparing Vilazodone and Vortioxetine?
Great suggestion! Thanks for subscribing and for the video idea. Take care.
I have MDD and SAD, tried everything lol :(
How are you doing now?
Lexapro made me feel sleepy and drugged. I don't think Zoloft does much except give me the shakes.
Which is better better for social anxiety
It depends, everyone will respond differently.
Hi, I'd be sooo happy if u answer me.
I'm a 18years old female, I was prescribed paroxetin, i took 10mg daily for 2 days then i couldn't stand the side effects specially Nausea it freaked me out I've never tried nausea before. However, i felt such a relief the second day i got rid of my social anxiety magically but unfortunately the relief lasted like an hour.
Now I'm on escitalopram 10mg per day this is day 4 i feel like my mood is better, but my social anxiety same.
What do u suggest pls.
Thank ❤
Note: paroxetin also helped my mood in that hour of the relief, everything was just perfect at that moment 🥹
@@LevelheadedMind is it okay that the partial response of paroxetin was much better than the partial response of escitalopram? Or this is a sign to go back to paroxetin
@@lollipop-fr7dihey how are you now
Which medicine now you are using
Hi@@lollipop-fr7di how are you doing now i wish you found your medication?
Been sleepy all my life, since childhood all they ever give me is antidepressants which make me crazy. I’m sleepy not depressed. Heard about modafil they say oh no that may do more harm than good. Here’s an antidepressant
Try phenilpiracetam. It is considered "nootropic" and relatively safe compared to AD. It will boost motivation, mood, focus and your general energy level. But works not for everyone and might be hard to get depending on your country
Lexapro it’s the best Zoloft is hell. Worst SSRI ever. I’m going back on Lexapro tomorrow I took it for 11 years.
Hello.. I just started Lexapro 5mg.. do u think my insomnia will worsen?
@@Monika-bb7rl no your dose is too low 10mg is the therapeutic dose.
