you know what you are a angle for all the people who has autoimmune conditions. Many many thanx to you for the time you infest for all of us. A single thanx is really not enough but I really appreciate what you are doing. Thank you again from bottom of my heart dear🧡❤
Aw, so nice of you to take the time to let me know! 💕
This is very helpful! Can't wait to try the Chai Latte
Omg I was missing my chai tea lattes! I'm so excited to try this one!
Thank you for posting this! I was literally talking about missing coffee this morning LOL.
Well then I hope you enjoy!! 💕
love the presentation!
Thank you sooooooo much I have thyroid and adrenal problems and the one thing I miss most is tea and coffee!!
You are so welcome! Enjoy! 💕
Thank you!!!
Omg this is cool! I’ve tried curio bru and was hoping to drink it on its own but it tastes like bitter water😒 think this is what I need🙂
Enjoy!
Thank you! I love chicory now! Love it!
That's so great to hear!
sadly i think chicory does not agree with me! i had mild to severed stomach & intestinal issues after drinking 3 large servings!
@@tomiakanana3779 It may be because chicory is a prebiotic - your gut microbiota loves it as food and this can cause intestinal discomfort as a result, especially if you are having large servings of it. If you still want to drink it I'd start with a small serving and see how you do and work your way up. (Incidentally, this can also happen with coconut products, especially coconut flour and meat (like flakes) so if you're finding the same with those, probably the same reason)
Amazing 🤩
I don't drink coffee, but I miss hot chocolate so I will try a few of these. thank you
You're so welcome! Enjoy!
Superb 👌👌🌹🌹
I’m a new subscriber! I don’t know what A AIP diet is? 🤷♀️ it must stand for a Alternative something? 🤣🙄
I realy enjoy mugwort latte. You get the dark green powder in asia markets. It might be called yomogi, it has quite a few names. The taxonomic name is artemisia princeps. I fare well with it, but if you have to be careful, better look it up
Interesting! I've never heard of that before - I'll have to check it out! Thanks for sharing.
@@MicheleSpring it is a commen flavor for corean sweets and is used in the traditional chines spring festival/remembrance of the dead dish, a avory filled rice dumpling, Qingtuang I think it was called. In japan they have a sweet variation called yomogi mochi or kusa mochi.
The herb is a bit bitter and smells very fragrant.
When we were kids we used chicory root powder and make “chocolate “ milk. We were too poor for cocoa powder 😂
Hello can you share with me where you get your dandelion root and chicory root. I don’t seem to find dandelion root on Amazon please thank you. Love your videos ❤️❤️
Sorry, for some reason this comment went to my spam! But I usually get them from Amazon. This was the dandelion root I got last time: amzn.to/3ptObSm and the chicory: amzn.to/3qsPCBM .
There's also a new product out that I love called Sip Herbals which is a premade mix of the two in a ratio I find most like coffee. It's quite delicious! You can get that here: sipherbals.com/?ref=MTd6JqXDT1Hw1 (use code Thriving10 to get 10% off)
Dear Michel, thanks for all the great information you provide here. I’m new into this diet with lots of questions 😅😅Do you have any specific video talking about coconut as a whole in this diet? I mean eating fresh or shredded coconut as fruit in a daily basis, is it forbidden?
hmm, no I don't think I've got a video or blog post on that (had to think about that for a sec!) but you definitely can use coconut in any form on this diet. I will caution you to watch the amounts, as it's VERY easy to go overboard if you make baked goods or specialty items to eat a lot of coconut as it's one of the only versatile ingredients we have to work with, but as long as you don't eat it in every meal and in several forms each meal you should be fine.
Michele Spring thanks a lot for the reply. And I have one more struggle in this diet. Whenever I eat vegetable in any type and form, no matter raw or cooked, Causes bloating and produces gas which is really bothering. Only by eating lean meat and chicken I dont feel bloating. Do you have any recommendation for me to figure this problem out?
@@saram4026 could be that you're not producing the right digestive enzymes to digest the veggies. If you're doing ok with proteins then that's where I'd start. Izabella Wentz actually wrote a great article about this that may help: thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/veggie-enzymes-and-hashimotos/ .Also probiotics may help as well - the gut bacteria that you have may not be able to handle the veggies so if you can help that process out that may stop the bloating too.
Thank you. My husband had to start AIP and I am going crazy to make him happy...and he's so miserable nothing helps. Maybe I'll try this.
You're such a great support for him! If only everyone could be so lucky to have someone like you by their side :-) I hope it helps!
I do not envy you, doing it for yourself is hard already, to keep everything in mind, find something you might like or at least can stand to eat . . . Doing it for someone else there is no way to do anything right . . .
Can i have 1or 2glass of coffee in a week with honey in it, i am usong davidoff coffee, is it ok to have in AIP diet.?
any idea why dandelion tea can cause intestinal issues? I started drinking it a few years back and it messed up mu gut.
I have been looking at vanilla powders on Amazon but not sure what brand to purchase. Any suggestions? Thanks!
These powders always go in and out of availability so it's hard to keep up!. I don't think Covid-restrictions have helped either, making things hard to get. But anyway - I've had this one in the past and I've liked it: amzn.to/34Po2pU They're pretty expensive, but they last forever so it kind of offsets the expense. Like a 3 oz package lasts me like 1-2 years because you only use like 1/2 tsp-1 tsp at a time.
Those are not teastpoons right? Seem more like tablespoons measurement
What's tricks me is that some fonts say coffee in small portions isn't forbidden and cocoa too. Even the book of Doctor Sarah, soo we can have small portions on aip or nothing at all?
On the elimination diet (if you follow Dr. Sarah Ballantyne's version), it is recommended to remove these entirely. They are both Stage 1 reintroductions though, so they're some of the first to come back.
@@MicheleSpring Thank you!! Your videos and blog are helping me a lot, you're incredible!!
@@Trevisol16 aw, thanks! I'm so glad I can help!
some great ideas but elimination diet requires no maple or coconut sugar
I talk about the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol, AIP diet by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne where these are totally allowed! :-)
@@MicheleSpring Just bought her book. Also Dr. Kellyann's Bone Broth Book.
would you reccomend dandy blend
No, because it's made with barley. While they claim it's gluten-free, it still is made from a grain, so at least if you're doing AIP it's out during the elimination part, unfortunately.
When you say “ one cup of milk”...... what are you using?
Are you asking about size or the kind of milk? I go over the types of milk before I start talking about the recipes - I use coconut but you could use tigernut or banana milk as well. If it's size it's 8 oz.
So where am I supposed to buy all these spices
most of the spices you should be able to get at your local grocery store. The only one you may have an issue finding is Mace - I usually get that on Amazon. As for the chicory/dandelion and beet powder, they *may* be at a local health-minded grocery store like Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, or Sprouts or you can get them on Amazon as well.
I have hoshimoto, can I not have ashwagandha?
Please reply.
You can have ashwagandha with Hashi's - it's just if you are on the AIP diet (Autoimmune Protocol) that it's eliminated for the initial phase because it can be an immune stimulant. If you want to calm down an autoimmune attack of your thyroid tissue, it's best to avoid immune stimulants for a while just to make sure that they aren't making the attack worse...
Can u replace ce milk with almond milk
You sure can if you aren't on AIP or have successfully reintroduced almonds if so! (But it's not AIP elimination phase-friendly)
I am so confused. Is it okay to have sweetness? I was told zero sweetness of any kind. I was also told to eat plenty of nuts and seeds. I feel like im going to lose my mind.
This is specifically for the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP Diet), which excludes nuts and seeds (amongst other things) and doesn't exclude sweet things (though it's advised to have them in moderation). It sounds like you're working with someone who maybe put you on a specific diet, but it doesn't sound like AIP?
Gluten in tea?? Not here in mid europe.
yeah, maybe a wonderful American addition, lol. We like to put gluten and extra salt and sugar in everything here apparently.
@@MicheleSpring 😂😂😂
If you realy want to have the full health benefit of the turmeric latte, add a pinch of pepper
yeah, black pepper definitely can help with the curcumin but unfortunately it's not allowed on the elimination part of AIP. But definitely something to consider once off of it!
I'm confused. I have hashimotos and was told that coffee was beneficial.
It's not that coffee is harmful - if you're not feeling great from your Hashi's and/or your immune system is still attacking your thyroid (which typically happens if you don't stop the attack via diet and lifestyle - won't happen just from taking a thyroid replacement like levothyroxine), then many people choose to do the Autoimmune Protocol to stop that attack and feel better. In the Autoimmune protocol (AIP diet), you remove seeds, along with a bunch of other things, for at least 30 days and then slowly reintroduce them to see if they cause symptoms or issues. Since coffee is a seed, it's eliminated. However, it also can be problematic for those with Hashi's as the adrenals are closely tied with the thyroid and caffeine is a stimulant, causing more cortistol (stress hormone) to be pumped out and this can cause a lot of symptoms and issues with people as well. So there are several reasons that coffee could potentially be problematic. If you feel great, don't have any afternoon tiredness at all, can handle stress without any issues, don't feel any sensitivity to light, salt cravings, etc then don't worry about it - coffee is fine to keep in! I drink a cup every day...
@Michele Spring (Thriving On Paleo) since I've been diagnosed through a blood test that indicated low t3 about 6 months ago I've been on overload with all types of do this don't do that info. The one thing I will not be able to completely get over is stress. I have a husband and 2 sons with mental illnesses. Right now I've been taking iodine, dessicated bovine thyroid and selenium. It's too soon to tell if it's helping. I ordered the coffig because it sounds really good!
Maple syrup substitute please- severe food allergy to maple syrup, last time had maple syrup almost went into full blown anaphylactic shock
Holy shit, thats like a total horror . . . . Maybe a bit of Blackstrap molasses?
Coconut sugar? or date syrup?
I just started experimenting with coffee alternatives easing into full elimination. And ordered dandelion root and chicory. my dandelion looks very different than yours It's light colored and much chunkier.
hmm, yeah, could be a difference in brands. I've found that with a lot of these AIP ingredients that between brands things can look SO different!
I didnt know elderberry wasn't allowed...
it's definitely one of those grey area foods, but since it stimulates the immune system it means it also has the potential to stimulate the autoimmune response (aka more symptoms and ramping up of autoimmune activity). So some people can keep it in but it is recommended to take it out while on the elimination phase.
@@MicheleSpring can you please make a video on foods/herbs like this? I realy did not have them on my radar at all
@@SingingSealRiana Are you referring to AIP-specific foods? I have this one about AIP foods that you may not be familiar with: ruclips.net/video/1F1eXqPUmx4/видео.html (or if you'd rather read about it here: thrivingonpaleo.com/aip-foods-that-you-may-not-be-familiar-with/ ) and then this one about AIP-specific Herbs and Spices: ruclips.net/video/mV_5HvxC-Js/видео.html (or read at: thrivingonpaleo.com/aip-spices-and-herbs/ )
@@MicheleSpring I referedbto the Herbst/spices like elderberries. The basic stuff like dairy, egg, nuts, seeds, nightshades one so one I am familiär with, but immun . . .whatever was Not a thing I encountered before as restricted
@@SingingSealRiana hmmm, then maybe read through something like this? It tells you what is and isn't allowed by food: thrivingonpaleo.com/aip-food-list/
Can we drink matcha?
yep! Just make sure it's straight matcha and not mixed with any non-AIP ingredients or fillers
Chocolate is not AIP?????!
