EDIT 29/03/2021: A little while after the video was released, I received some shirts among other physical items (like water bottles) from FACEIT. Nothing particularly valuable, but it is a very kind gesture. FACEIT has been giving out these random items to various content creators for free, without asking for anything in return. For example, Jbird received the same gifts without being required to make a video in return. All he did was make a tweet, and I'm pretty sure he didn't even have to do that. I can also confirm that these items were not delivered to me in return for making this video specifically, it seems they just want to be nice to the TF2 community.
I can't edit the video to include these items in the disclaimer, and since this happened after the video was released, I don't think I need to. However, Zesty Jesus and a bunch of others (namely a few cheaters wanting to tarnish FACEIT's name) have started conspiracies that FACEIT is illegally doing under the table sponsorships. Simply put, this is an incredibly offensive lie based on nothing but speculation, that attacks the character of all of these RUclipsrs. I didn't want to talk about Zesty in any way, but his rabid followers pestering me (and many other youtubers) about it has forced me to make a statement here.
The dude makes fun of Valve News Network presumably for all of the speculation that guy made, but then Zesty goes and speculates himself, and (intentionally or not) uses his platform as a weapon to swing at other RUclipsrs. Hypocritical, and arguably worse. I do understand that including this in the description sort of does the same thing in a smaller way, but I have no idea why Zesty hasn't gotten more flak for attacking other creators like this.
I can respect him as a content creator, but if he's going to attack me and others based on nothing but speculation, and then send his fans to attack us (intentionally or not), then that's where it goes too far.
Over a year later, I've decided to pin this new comment to share my thoughts on why this failed. It doesn't really warrant an entire new video, too late for that now.
• Creating a 12v12 matchmaking system is hard. Since it was always going to have a smaller number of active players than Casual mode, they had to make compromises with map choice to speed up queue times, and even then they were still fairly slow and games would often be unbalanced.
• Prizes incentivized very skilled competitive players to queue in 6-man parties together, with the goal of steamrolling the games as fast as possible, just to get the prizes ASAP. This didn't happen every game at first, but as Casual players started to leave the service, it increasingly became more and more of a problem.
• Prizes incentivized the constant use of some of the most broken or annoying weapons/strategies in the game.
• In Casual mode, broken weapons are usually fine because you only encounter maybe one person at most doing an annoying "thing" at a time, but in FACEIT it was common for basically the entire team to resort to some of TF2's least fun tactics. It ended up being a good showcase for why competitive modes tends to ban certain weapons. If the entire team tries really hard, the game breaks, unless you add weapon and class restrictions.
• Certain cheaters and RUclipsrs created a rather unnecessary panic over the kernel anti-cheat. CS:GO players use FACEIT just fine, but TF2 players are rather gullible and FACEIT is an unfamiliar name to them, making these players easy to scare off with just a few overdramatic statements.
• Rather than have the anticheat work like it did in CS:GO, where all players are required to use it... They decided to only enforce the anticheat on players with a supposed high risk of cheating. This only ended up frustrating people since it would often select completely random people. If it just told everyone to use the anticheat, less people would have cared.
• Overdramatic videos about the supposed "competitive" nature of FACEIT ended up scaring potential Casual players away from the service, which only made the problem worse rather than better. It would be better if people were civil and provided ideas to solve problems, rather than needlessly whining.
• FACEIT were very, very slow to address the issues. They are apparently working on it, but even if they pushed an update now, their first impression was ruined by these issues. They'd have to do a No Man's Sky styled redemption arc.
• Uncletopia pretty much does what FACEIT wanted to do anyway.
It's a shame. This is probably one of the biggest missed opportunities TF2 has had.
So face it failed?
Ya
I'm still baffled at the decision to add prizes into the casual pool anyways
Uncletopia is still the goat tho, it's given my friends and I the ability to have some great games
unfortunately scream fortress is still locked to official servers teehee I hate harvest event
Dude, you hit the nail on the head with that first point, why are you trying to justify yourself "oh it's the fault of the community, they weren't happy with the platform's problems, why don't they do our job instead of whining" because it's YOUR JOB, not mine! And if the community's suggestion were taken at face value, you would quickly recognize that they're not good at it! The only one responsible of this failure are the creators, no matter how "insensible" and "overactive" it could be, if those problems are not fixed, I leave and do/play something else, simple as that, this blunder rest upon their shoulders.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Bots filling in for leavers reminds me of CSGO. Specifically, we were in a high rated casual match and someone crashed. So a bot filled in and instantly rushed in and donked 3 ppl and won us the game. Good times.
Damn CSGO bots are intense
I really hope that valve doesn't add bots to casual to fill in slots, it will ruin it for spy. Bots cant be trickstabbed in really any way, so multiple of them would basically erase chainstabs.
Yep bots ruin spy
@@aimboat709 but bots suck at figuring out who the spy is...

Three chance of random Cris increases for how much damage you've done in one life, or something like that, so the skullcutters increased damage increases its crits as well
Agreed, axe crits are bullshit, I managed to survive a 3v1 because of axe crits
Really excited for this! Already started trying to get points from other games
So to clear up some bs from this video.
The AntiCheat seems to work, which is amazing, great job. HOWEVER.
The FaceIt "casual" IS NOT CASUAL. The timer mode on payload maps sucks, it makes the games really short, but it is a nice idea, so maybe just tweak it.
Because of all the prices and leaderboard bullshit theres so many sweaty tryhards. Not to mention you cannot leave the match without punishment. I just wanna play, not have to deal with ladders and shit. Also, as mentioned, ONLY 9 MAPS.
You're either on the winning team, or the loosing team, there's no in-between.
Now it might just take time for the ranking system to properly asses everyone's skill level and start matching properly, so this might not be an issue anymore in few weeks, but for now ballance is a serious issue.
The prices? HAHA, ONLY IF YOU BUY THE MONTHLY PREMIUM. The FaceIt points you get on free account are pennies, you get points only from completing missions and the missions with high rewards are locked behind premium. So unless you plan on paying the monthly premium, or plan to sink in MANY hours, don't expect to get any prices for a long time before you save up.
Overall, while FaceIt sells this as "casual 12v12", it is not. It's what a competitive player with 5k hours *thinks* is casual.
Also the anti-cheat is a root-level anticheat that doesn't let you use VMs, so if you run a hybrid machine or run a virtualized machine you can't use the client. And if they get hacked, well, say goodbye to any secure stuff you have on that PC.
The one response that should actually be pinned.
Don't mind me I'm just a person who casually depends on random crits
Face it: no more random crits
Me: my leverage, forever gone

It’s a sad state of affairs when Faceit puts more effort into TF2 than valve.
Some people take care of children left by their parents that didn't give two freakin' fucks about feeding them... Face It is doing something for TF2 that Valve has never gotten interested on doing.
Faceit is a company at its core, money is always their first goal, faceit isnt doing it for the "community" or their " love for tf2", they do it for money, for example literally the first thing you see in faceit tf2 is a premium subscription, i recommed zesty jesus's video for more info.
@@deadalind728 Didn’t say otherwise. What I did say, however, is they’re still putting more effort into this game than valve is, regardless of their motivation.
@@purplehaze2358 to be honest you are not wrong there, although i cant help but feel like the "effort" is like putting trash in the trash can but not putting the garbage all the way "in". The matchmaking is fucked, flat out, it feels like competitive but they just uped the player count it doesnt have the charm of the original "casual" tf2. The anti cheat sucks, you can literally search " cheating in tf2 faceit" on youtube and there are already videos about that, its not that they didnt put effort, they aboslutely did, they aked competitve and influencers about their thoughts, but i cant help but feel like they put too few effort.

I kinda get why people don't like random crits but at the same time I think it spices the game up quite a lot and allows for some funny builds that wouldn't do damage otherwise, the game is light hearted and if anything then just get rid of random crits in comp
As a F2P, 5:09 is so relatable and it has happened SO MANY TIMES
it gets even more painful as you rack up the hours. I could be stomping the enemy team, but if i'm on fire and on low health, there's nothing I can do to make the medic look at me and detach his beam from someone with a tenth of the hours and half the points.

(and I'm not gonna bring on the negativity bias, cus' it depends on the person). All in all, the majority of the community do not like crits. Anyway, play TF2, and have a great day.
You inspired me to learn how to trimp and now I can honestly have more confidence in my demo play so thank you
If the stop watch functions like in tf2 competetive than f*** that shit. I don't want the game to stop in the middle of something just because faceit doesn't want to deal with ties. Plus, it's a terrible mechanic general, because it makes staying afk a valid winning strategy in some cases.
2:40 THE MKWII REVERENCE MAKES IT PERFECT
Was no one going to tell me you can trimp in Mario kart wii
We will be waiting for that special day.

4:55 "and then they did nothing else" is a lie. Other things include chat rate limits for pay-to-play players, chat filters, vote kick rework, fixing spectator exploits, allowing enabling/disabling of chat, fixing retry exploit, changing report system, changing report system again, fixing player name exploit, fixing team name exploit, and a new mute dialog.
Now it's definitely true that Valve is not doing as much as they could be, but don't claim that all they did was take away f2p chatting and nothing else, because that's simply not true
imagine defending valve for their lack of actions, they did all of this, and it still didnt change a single thing when it came to bots, allowing chat to be enabled or disabled is something that shouldve been in the game day 1, same with filters, chat rate limits. and mute dialog is irrelevant
@@jaiden1121 "defending valve for their lack of actions" is exactly what I did not do, read the end
@@jaiden1121 "they did all of this"
Bitch the only thing they did was minorly assist against the bot spamming for the hell of it, which was a _pro._
They've been avoiding focusing TF2 for a while, because it is not in their interest. It isn't entirely Valve's fault for these douches taking advantage of the situation and hosting bots while Valve takes a break/retires.
Oh hay it’s naleksuh
In short, all they did with every single change was make it so that the bots can't be racist, because _that_ was their personal takeaway from the Kotaku article.
no autobalance is SURE to go horribly wrong, and removing random crits throws off the whole melee balance.
this is gonna age like -milk- smegma
Finally a new video thank you solarlight
me seeing "face" in the title : LET ME IN THIS VIDEO RIGHT NOW
Did they buff the pan to make it just as good without random crits?
I would take only the randoms crits from the main and secondary weapons melee them there is no need to kill them that way xd This speaks very highly of valve that only cares about its csgo instead of giving a little more interest to the game that held it for a couple of years
No crits
No bots
Australiums that you can buy
No autobalance
No random bullet spread

honestly, I don't really want to go over. I LOVE the fact that they show interest in the game, but it's just a supposedly better competitive mode. I've never been much interested in comp.
I don't really know how to properly put it into words, but I can try. I once heard someone try to explain the reason people play tf2 still. It wasn't the weapons, it wasn't the movement tactics, it wasn't the bugs, it wasn't the hats. It was the randomness.
Think about it. When a new FPS game comes out, how long do you play it for, on average? You normally play the story mode, then go play in the multiplayer, if it has one, and then you eventually get tired of it, and put it down. And everytime you try to pick it back up, your average play time goes down, and down, and you play it less and less often. Why? Most of the time, people will say because it's boring. They say that every match up goes the same way. Either someone get's an overpowered gun, or an o.p. power up, or something like that, and goes on a tear, and kills everyone and everything.
But, when people put tf2 down, they always seem to come back. Sure some of the mechanics may be a bit flawed, cough cough melee cough cough, but the game is fun to play. When you think about a funny moment about tf2, you probably think of something really silly, like when that stock fists heavy went on a rampage, and killed half your team, by w+m1-ing at you with his fists and getting random crits every other hit. Or maybe you think of the time the entire server went friendly, because some random hoovy travelled the entire way to the enemies intel, and started dancing on the bridge with it. Or maybe, maybe you think about the time an a-pose, spinning scout capped three times, all by himself, because god damn it, no cosmetic a-pose characters are god damn scary. Or maybe... never mind, you get the point. All of that, was random. It wasn't something that was going to happen, sure it was probably bound to happen sooner or later, but when it happened, that was random.
That's why people play casual tf2. Because of the randomness. And what faceit is doing, making a "casual" tf2, which is basically comp, they are removing randomness. Now, some people will like it, probably the ones that play comp more than casual, and that's fine. But personally? I think I'll stick with good old wacky tf2, the only game where one dancing player can cause an entire lobby of 24 players to stop shooting each other, and have fun dicking around.
It's 12v12 casual mode. Not sure where the comp misconception comes from.
@@SolarLight It's got a ranking system.
Edit; and when I say better comp, I mean less wait time to get in a match.
I agree, I'm pretty sure higher level faceit players will just start banning people being friendly or using weak strats (demoknight, playing spy, etc.) at some point
@@ayhan4472 ... Demoknight? Weak? have you ever heard of SolarLight? Spy, weak? Have you seen Mr.Paladin?
This sounds soooo amazing !! I've been using faceit alot on csgo but to have it come to tf2 is simply unbelivable
I feel like half the moaning about autobalance is for meme value.
The idea of having bots replace players that leave seems worse than autobalance to me.
you and me both
At the end of the day, even if all a bot does is stand still and be a goddamn meat shield, that's still more useful than having literally nothing at all.
@@fusrosandvich3738 no
I hope they fix the lag of the servers.
"Has a monthly subscription service." Oh boy this is just gonna be a taking money from desperate players trying to escape bots, isn't it?
No, it's completely free, you pay to get more things, but you can play for free
I hope this can make tf2 more ''Alive''
And now no one use faceit anymore because it's hot garbage
Let’s all be excited now! But Face it, this won’t last long
aged terribly
Why? What happened
@@maulanaazhari4421 Basically Faceit doesn't know what casual TF2 is and did a lot of back peddling to not call what they have competitive, basically they tried to create casual TF2 to capitalise off of the Bot pandemic, but they ended up just making a competitive seen. Also that Anti-cheat is something you download if you have been reported like ever, if someone got pissed at you and reported it you have to download the anti-cheat. Also it's incredibly hard to remove from your PC, they also use it to collect data (not confirmed but it is incredibly likely). They are just a bit shit overall, you are better of just playing the game as is or going to community servers like uncletopia if you want a similar gameplay experience to a casual TF2.
Played with you today it was the most fun i had on TF2 in a long time
No bots and no random crits
I was hoping this would be a service that implores solo playing more than cooperative pub stomping...
He did say that parties get matched more consistently with parties so it shouldn't really be that big of a problem.
A bright new era is coming to tf2. the bot crisis may finally be at a end, random crits are being removed, no more last second autobalance... *a bright new era indeed*
