Thank you. I did learn new things about my Volvo mirrors. I appreciate it. Some of the thing i paused to tell my wife and I guess she already knew it. 🙂Thanks again. - GLA
Always great to be reminded / informed of features that are really useful - that make Volvos what they are (folks still turn their nose up at Volvos 'cos they dom't understand...)
As the mirror dipping in you may catch it’s dipping angle at any moment by moving a joystick (if you don’t need it to tilt all the way down). In fact, it will remember that position, and next time you push the corresponding mirror button for it to dip in it will go to that previous position. Pretty neat.
Haha. I'm easily amused! Seriously though didn't know about pressing left and right buttons together to pull the mirrors in and how to get just one mirror to dip when reversing. 👍 Cold weather tip: disable the folding function when locking the car at night; ice accumulation can prevent the motors unfolding them again. Ask me how I know!
Thanks for the video mate. I was wondering if there is an option for saving the change in the position of the mirrors in reverse. Because while putting in reverse, the mirrors are getting in a position, which is not my setting.
I need to have the mirror setting when reverse is engaged reset such that it does not engage each time the car is put on reverse. How do you reset the system?
One thing I find with my V70 is that when the left mirror dips in reverse, it moves the mirror *out* and down, so I have to lean over into the passenger side to see the rear wheel and kerb. Apparently, there's no way to store the reverse dip position. A way around this is to store the reverse dip in seat memory 3. So, if I want to see the left kerb for reversing, rather than pressing the left mirror button, I press seat memory 3, then when I'm done reversing, I just select seat memory 1 again.
We cannot see which buttons you are pressing your fingers are covering them please can you zoom in on the buttons so we can see which specific button it is ? Thankyiv
When reverse gear is activated, the mirror not only dips down, but also so much inwards looking down towards the front door body???, the kerb can barely be seen on the outer edge of the mirror, so the mirror positioning is all wrong, so it was not turned on all the years! If anyone has got a hack to calibrate the reverse mirror tilt position to our usefulness, kindly let me know. No other cars I know tilt inwards by so much.
Yes, this! My 2017 S 90 is the same problematic way. I loved this feature in my 2002 Mercedes C-Class, but the way this Volvo twists so far down and then way *_in_* yet! It's utterly useless.
@@AndyK.1 This sounds like a good 'hack', but it's really just putting the proper angle setting into a 'seat memory position', rather than actually adjusting the 'reverse mirror curb viewing position', yes? (Still better than nothing.)
My dad recently bought a 2009 Volvo v70 and the side mirrors won’t fold when I tried to close them, and there is no settings for the side mirrors, do you have any tips? If you do please tell me! Thank you!
You've probably gotten an answer by now, but they don't all come with power folding mirrors. But it can be retrofitted. Easiest way to check is if there's puddle lights under them, then they have power folding as well.
It would be nice if the year of the car was shown instead of the year this was posted. We are in 2023 and it shows the post as two years ago. I assumed the Volvo was two years old and that the tips would apply to my two years old Volvo. It was only after I wasted my time opening the post did I find out the Volvo shown was an instinct model no longer being made or sold. Definitely not a two years old model.
I just bought a 66 plate Volvo V40 and I've been diving through all your videos - very handy!

Black American here and I love your RocknRolla accent....cheers mate.

Thanks for sharing your good information. I like the one about push the mirror button mirror goes down and you can see your parking lines.
I knew about this after reading the manual for my 2013 XC70 cover to cover. But your video was useful to show exactly how it works! Thanks.
Definitely, a worthwhile 6 minutes! Cheers!

Thank you, definitely learned few tricks I didn't know ! Very interesting
I'm gunna go try this or now the reverse and then pull away. That looked so cool . Simple things can surely please me😂👍🏿
Try this right now. ^^^^ update just tried it and it works thanks mate👍🏿
Hi Gunna 🙋
Very useful thank you, I do like the mirror adjustment when going in reverse, similar to my old merc cheers

Hi,
How to switch on the puddle lights under side mirrors
I have a 2012 D5, the near side mirror automatically lowers to the kerb, is there a way to stop it so I can choose if it lowers or not?
hi does that apply to all models and any year i have a 2016 and my mirrors don't fold in many thanks neil
I need to have the mirror setting when reverse is engaged reset such that it does not engage each time the car is put on reverse. How do you reset the system?
If you press lock or unlock button in remote control for a long time the windows will be closed or opened automatically
On what year ? I have an 08
10/2009
Thx for sharing.

That is genius! Thank you. I just got an XC60 and I was came here looking for a solution to this exact problem.
On a 2014 XC90 there was no setting i could find to make it fold on lock/unlock. Do you know how i could make this work?
I will like to know that to
Hi there
Would you have a video on how turn on daytime driving lights?
Erin
Does the reverse mirror dip work on. 2011 c30 Dec 2011 on Manual?
Thanks
You're welcome 😉
Very handy
Very helpful! Cheers mate.
Thank you for this video, but in my 2016 V70 i tried the reverse but it's not working 😐
If you don’t have the electric drivers seat the reverse functions etc won’t work
We cannot see which buttons you are pressing your fingers are covering them please can you zoom in on the buttons so we can see which specific button it is ? Thankyiv
Not working on my V70 fold down in reverae (manual gearbox)
Do these features work on volvo xc90 r-design 2014
Would love to know this too.
17 plate here and I don't have the side mirror function when reversing. 😢anyone else? I don't think it is a standard in all v40s?

Try. Select reverse. Adjust mirror position. Press memory then Number button you want it saved to. Take out of reverse

The Volvo wing mirrors always make that terrible noise when they fold in or out

By the way it’s a manual gearbox

Sadly, the "reverse" feature is not available on manual gearbox models 🙁
It works for me
2009 S80 with The Ford Mondeo 2 L diesel with 136hp in Manual
@@dobrien757 could it be your car's seats are electrically adjusted? I suspect that the function in argument is related to that.
Not sure about the driving away bit, but the part where it angles down works on my manual P3 2008 XC70, I've used it a few times. 🙂
Also if you press L and R button at the same time you will close the mirrors.
It’s all about the exposure lol

Everything works for me except the dipped mirror when in reverse. Tried everything and simply doesnt go down. :/
You don't have memory seats?
Year and model would have been super helpful so I didn’t need to waste my time.
i have c30 and this doesn't work for me
