Absolutely, my sister who is a film actor has worked with Meryl Streep and she said she is so lovely and fun and not at all arrogant but very caring and considerate. Really wish more people could be like her, especially as they age and not have an air of arrogance to them just because they have become successful.
Kate Winslet said the same thing when she was awarded an honour from the queen about how she didn't feel she deserved it. I guess they don't feel being an actor and telling stories is worthy of an honour like that. But Meryl is so refreshingly modest and lovely - really great lady. And those legs!
Thanks for this interview. That phrase "an ability to find colors in a lyric" was what I was looking for. You can hear this "color" for example when you listen to her song "The Last Midnight" when she sings _You're so nice, you're not good, you're not bad, you're just nice._ emphasis on the word *"bad"* and the overall way she handled each word and the whole meaning is just amazing. She does know how to say things so that it fits perfectly the moment she's in right now. Just fabulous.

Meryl Streep is one of my favorite actresses. BTW i do think the witch of INTO THE WOOD is not pure evil. For example, I believe the way she treats her daughter (Rapunzel) result from her mother. Her mother punishes her with ugliness! That is definitely not a good mother. Therefore, she want to be a good mother herself by means of "kidnapping" Rapunzel and "protecting" her as much as possible.
people, I want to bet my bottom dollar that Meryl has not undergone any work done. Her face is naturally easy to make young from make up alone. She is naturally beautiful as well

She obviously has a great surgeon but i don't think she needed work done on her face given the career and the influence she's got. Hollywood has become so shallow and discriminatory to aging so she, with her integrity, could have given an example by saying NO to nips and tucks as she would have looked great too without it
she's never done any surgery. She's said it plenty of times she does yoga and swims 40 or so laps. Plus she has a a great makeup guy who's been with her for over 35 years
Of course she was not going to say it out loud especially that she knows a lot of people would be sort of disappointed. But look around you and find one regular woman not even her age but 5, even10 years younger who looks like this and didn't have any procedure on her face. At 65 at least a bit of a 'turkey neck' must be visible

Her performance was souless, sparkless, phone it in dull. Profoundly uninteresting. Bernadette Peters tore it up. She gave the roll the bite it needed.
Ken Nickels Meryl was much better to me. She put more emotion into it and made the witch an old woman longing for beauty and acceptance from her daughter instead of a caricature. Her Stay With Me and Last Midnight were better.
Nick Peek Well, I must say that the best redeeming result of this endeavor was to produce a top notch recording of Sondheim's music, that catches some subtleties I didn't hear from the pit band. Did you see the original Broadway show? It was really quite magical.
