I'm actually appreciating 1980s music more now and it's not just because I'm a musician. It's because the musicians actually had talent. In 2010, I saw Billy Idol in concert; he was among the revolutionaries during the early-mid 80s. Billy put on an amazing performance. I don't think there was any questioning his abilities. Like Billy, I've seen other 80s musicians/bands in concerts whose musicianship and performing abilities weren't up for debate. Nowadays, it's about putting a face in front of a microphone and...nothing.
She is just so underrated and has lived a life worth envying 😎💖💖💖

I remember seeing this song a few years back. I have never forgot this song or the beautiful young woman who sings it. Toni Basil is, was, and still can be our "FEMALE MICHEAL JACKSON" and I mean that in the greatest respect to Micheal Jackson and Toni Basil.

This is actually quite a good live rendition of this great, one-hit wonder of the new wave era. But Toni was also a pioneer at the time having the first full-length long-form video album ever, which is now at the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection. She's one of the early performance artists aside from Grace Jones and Laurie Anderson.

What an amazing woman and incredible talent. I was a teenager when this song hit the charts and like so many lads of my age group I fell for toni basil in a big way and I'm pretty sure that that's when my liking for the cheerleader look started too. Also like so many other people had no idea of her age but that is positive proof of the old adage " age is just a number " . She's certainly no less attractive or less sexy for being a bit older than some of assumed that's for sure. Massive respect is due to her. If I was called Michael I would have this song for my funeral without doubt. 💔
