I bought a 2023 BMW G310GS with 220 miles on it, having never rode before. I’ve already put 3,500 miles on it, and as someone who lives up north I can’t wait to start commuting on it again.
Yep. That was my first bike and it was great to ride. Light, nimble, roomy for a tall guy, does freeway speed easy. More importantly, it was forgiving of mistakes.
I bought a 310GS just over a year ago, practiced all the drills on it every chance I had and enjoyed many miles of good riding. I'm now eyeing an upgrade, but no regrets on the experience I earned with the 310gs. It's a very decent bike for the size engine.
I just bought a 2024 model a couple of months ago as my first bike and I love this thing! It's so easy to maneuver that parking lot drills are effortless. I'm 6'5" and thought it might be cramped, but the tank shape fits my knees comfortably. I'm hooked. I want at least two more bikes now.
I passed my test in the UK in 2021 and bought a new G310R. I rode 7000 miles in 18 months before trading it in to get a Triumph Trident 660. I sometimes wish that I could have kept it. My partner used to ride pillion on it from time to time. Great little bike, I may yet have another one.
You are spot on. Returned to riding with a 2021 310r at age 51. Kids, etc. I think my skills and confidence came back quicker because of the predictable manners of this bike.
I had the opportunity to use the 310R during my CMSF course, and it was an incredible experience. The bikes were brand new, still sporting temporary license plates. As a first-time rider, I initially found the 310R a bit intimidating at first glance. However, once I got started, I was surprised at how easy it was to handle, especially during slow-speed maneuvers and while taking my test.
Wow, Greg with 310R this time! Unexpectedly! 310GS was my first bike, and i falled in love with it! Did 7000 km in one season, still did not get the feeling that i need more
It'll do freeway all day long, but man my hands would go numb after an hour on my GS. Sold it to a guy that lived in San Francisco. It's the perfect bike for in town and short freeway trips.
in Europe if you're below 24, you're restricted to 35KW and 35KW roughly equals out to 47bhp. So even in Europe this bike is rarely used since it's about 10bhp below the already restricted license. Most people go for a bigger bike and tune them down to 35kw at a dealership. I for example bought a BMW F850GS which is 70KW (95bhp) and got it tuned down to 35kw and this August, I'll finally be allowed to tune it back to it's full power when I get my full motorcycle license.
I have a 310gs 2020 version. It ok for the highway but as a daily commuter it excels. 3.0L-3,2L/100km, service interval is at 10000km. Not the most comfortable but I have done 400km rides and its ok. Max speed is 144km/h but I would not drive the thing faster than 100km/h for a longer period. The buzz becomes real after 110km/h. I would buy the 2022 and onward version because they have made fuel injection better and stalling is not an issue in newer models. And no, this is not my first bike. It is third. After a Yamaha fzx750, this is like riding a E Bike :) Just great commuter. I would only say, as a daily commuter that the Honda 750ncx is better. Same fuel consumption but more power and place for a helmet.
My very first bike was the old TBS RTR so I have some romantic motions about this bike , I remember the excitement when it was released but it was never designed to be sold in my home country so that's one of those commuter that will stay in my dreams forever. Great bike though.
Had one and I loved it. Everyone said one can’t do this and that on a 300. I’ll say I proved them wrong. I toured around Europe on a couple of two week trips and did more than 30.000 miles in three years. Then I got rear ended and bought an R nineT urban GS. I’m not doing anything on the R nineT that I couldn’t do on the 310. I’d say they are equally reliable. I miss that bike … 🥲
In Europe the licensing depends on your age. I did my course when I was 49 and I got my A-license (unrestricted) from day one. A1 is max 125cc from age 18, then A2 max 35kW from age 20, and A unrestricted from 22-24 depending on how long you already have a A2 license.
100% great point about a beginner rider should spend less money on a first bike and put the difference into proper gear. a 1st year rider is more likely to have an incident due to lack of experience while a 2nd year rider is more likely to have an incident due to overestimating their skill.
I love the reviews! Noob question on average how many mpg you get on a motorcycle? we hear all these stats but it's one i don't see people talk about. Thank you in advance and have a wonderful 2025! Be safe.
Triumph's scambler and speed 400 are argubaly the best beginner bikes, but you don't ever test drive any trumphs. You need a little more brand/manufacturer diversity I think.
This motorcycle is manufactured by TVS in India. It is based on the Apache. There are millions of these bikes in India and it is the primary mode of transportation. I did a project for them for a year.

I found them to be a bit too top heavy, and not great for smaller riders,
The CMSP class uses these exact same bikes very beginner friendly still decided as a first timer

remeber watching that video couple years ago and it was the last thing that convinced me to go slow with my first bike! Thanks!
I could swear you had extensive videos about F900R but now I can’t find it when started thinking about getting one

Quick comment about the European A2 license power limit: the bike can have a maximum of 35 kW, which is about 47 hp
Huge fan of your content! Would be awesome to see your review of the tuono 660
I picked up one back in September as my first bike I love it

In Poland it's 14yo - AM 50cc;
16yo - A1 125cc;
18yo -A2 35KW;
24yo or 2 years after getting A2, so 20yo - A unrestricted
As always, great review.
Stay safe and healthy . . .
is there any sense to put on this windscreen?

Euro A2 horsepower limit is 47 hp (35kW).

You can do from 50-70 mpg. 70 is riding like you're on reserve in the middle of nowhere and 50 is full out. For me it's generally around 60 mpg.
@@average.yt.commenter609 Thank you!
🫡😍👍🙏good stuff... greg
Have one, awesome bike 👌🏽
Everything the best 👍
Using rr310 fantastic bike
You probably did not have chance to try out KTM 390 Adventure :)

Can you comment if you know anything about the 2 riders killed on Palomar Mountain? I know you ride that often and may know something.
Hi could you try the ktm 390 adv 2024?
I'd be interested to know how a 192 cm man would look on it.
Husqvarna 401s.

Does it contain Chinese metallurgy?
@@treytucker5619 no
It is extremely outdated. And not at all popular in india. It is a overpriced 300cc in an extremely capable and versatile 400cc market
Clickbait titles on every video.
A single cylinder naked bike is the "best" beginner bike - said by not a single soul on earth.
Nah
❤
Those 5 minute reviews are pretty bad. You can't and shouldn't tell anything about bike after such ride.
The Ninja 500 people may disagree.
It looks Chinese. 👀
It’s Indian.
@@RoeyHaviv It's chinese Indian! With BMW premium pricing of the maintenance and spare parts!
You mean it's the "best" beginner bike motorcycle for people with too much money and a hair gel addiction. You're welcome.
These bikes are actually pretty cheap cause they’re made in India.
@@davidflorez225 Yeah, it was a joke sir. With that said, I do like the complimentary curry-fart and body odor scent when going WOT!
