I would also recommend visiting The Itaipu hydroelectric dam near Ciudad del Este (the second largest in the world, after China), on the way to or on the way back from The Fox de Iguazu waterfalls, and also visiting the southern city of Encarnacion with large river beaches where you can actually swim. The Jesuit ruins from the 1600's are only 30 km from Encarnacion,

@@TravellingWithCon Asuncion. Once in Encarnacion, the city of Posadas Argentina is on the other side, connected by a bridge. You can appreciate the Posadas skyline from Encarnacion. The sunsets in the evenings across the river are also excellent from the Encarnacion beaches,
