In the Students' town (Studentski Grad in Bulgarian). There are all the dormitories of the Sofia universities and lots of discos, bars, night club. It is a true sin city there.

I've been here but out in the countryside for years, but am going to Asu next week. I'll stay in the old town, you get a lot more hotel for your money. I do though agree for a 1st time visitor Villa Morra is more sensible. No night life in the old town and even I would not choose to walk around there in the dark

I would also recommend visiting The Itaipu hydroelectric dam near Ciudad del Este (the second largest in the world, after China), on the way to or on the way back from The Fox de Iguazu waterfalls, and also visiting the southern city of Encarnacion with large river beaches where you can actually swim. The Jesuit ruins from the 1600's are only 30 km from Encarnacion,
