Affirming Buenos Aires is becoming expensive is to ignore what type of city Buenos Aires is, just London or Paris r on par in terms of urban beauty and in relation to security, Buenos Aires is the second safest capital on the entire continent.(2.8 homicides/100K inhabitants) only behind Ottawa in Canada and not so far from Paris: 1.3 homicides/100K inhabitants. Additionally, for foreigners, costs r falling again since blue dollar rose to $1,300 in the last week, compared to the official dollar at $900. There is no other city in the world with such favorable city quality/price
It’s certainly a great city! But there are also great cities in South East Asia for example that are cheaper and offer lots to do like Buenos Aires too. But Buenos Aires is certainly one of the best cities for “value for money” in the Western Hemisphere!

In no other metropolis in the world (outside Europe) u can find such a vast area of European style architecture (beaux arts/academicism-art nouveau/deco) as in Buenos Aires (on par with London or Paris in terms of extension of that areas) and also: Buenos AIres people is essentially of European race, more than 90%, with all this: Buenos Aires offers an European atmosphere impossible to find in any other country in the world (outside of Europe) and as stated above, at a much lower cost than in the main European metropolises.

For me either Bangkok/Chiang Mai vs Buenos Aires should be your debate ahaha. Like my other comment to you, I say go with Thailand if cost of living and quality food and cheap flights to world class beaches are important to you. But go to Argentina if you have a bigger budget, and you want access to some phenomenal mountains/glaciers, and you like latinas ahahhahahah 😄
