  • This neck strengthening exercise helps build stamina and stability in the neck extensors to keep your head in alignment. Great for those of you who spend long hours seated in front of screens.

    I can hold this position a bit longer by placing a thin pillow behind my head - I have rounder shoulders and this is really helping - thanks for posting - never seen anything like it on RUclips before.

      Feet are hips width apart. Start with feet about 6" to a foot away from wall. If it's too hard go closer, if it's too easy step further away.

    What part of your body should hurt after this exercise
    ?

    • @resilientbeing447
      @resilientbeing447  3 года назад +5

      Hi Hobi, you should feel the back of the neck (extensor muscles) working on this exercise. If you are pressing the back of your hands into the wall you will also feel the muscles between the shoulder blades slightly. Main focus is the back of the neck.

    This method can help in forward growth like jawline

      It will definitely help with overall neck and head positioning and maintaining a chin tucked position, which will impact the position of the jaw indirectly

    When I stand with back to a wall, the back of my head is a long way from the wall. After doing this with a towel behind my head I can stand with back to a wall with head touching. Why does this have an instant effect?

    • @resilientbeing447
      @resilientbeing447  Месяц назад

      That's a great modification! From what you're sharing, you likely have a significant forward head posture. Your neck extensor muscles have likely overworked for a long time and now exercising these muscles in a way that's bringing them back to neutral must make them feel very different. Curious to hear how it feels.

      @@resilientbeing447Thank you. I can feel the muscles in the back of my neck working hard during this exercise. It's difficult but I'm trying to be very conscious of my posture at all times, especially when on my PC/phone. Is it possible to reverse forward head posture with corrective exercises? I'm hoping this will also help the pain from cervical spondylosis.

      @@lewiscray9052 It is definitely possible with consistency in the corrective exercises and continued awareness of your posture! Take lots of breaks when you are at your computer/ on your phone and move your body and realign. We're not meant to be stationary looking at screens. But we are meant to be able to rest and sit with good posture
