Tough call. 5 Pro is a bit pixelated or too much white compared to the 5 Pro. Either can work and the 4 isn’t bad just obviously darker. I think you could tweak the 5 Pro to dial back the White Balance and have the perfect pic. Forced to pick 1 I’ll carry the 5 because of its 960 slow motion burst capability
I just love the balanced low light performance of the OA4, it's not bright as AP and OA5 but still crisp with those deep blacks with almost 0 noise keeping the footage more natural.
You keep killing it ! I think the Action 5 and Insta360 have the brightest picture, however, the Action 5 wins because its much crisper and not blurred like the 360.
Still liking the Action 4, from it's colors to the stability. The others look better at night but not a fan of their light glare and light flare. Wish DJI made a bigger sensor of the Action 4 to a 1 inch 😁. GoPro does look nice when there's a lot of light.
Nice video dude. Action 5 Pro and Ace Pro at the top 2, without seeing the raw video files due to RUclipss compression, I can't see which one is actually better with less noise and artifacts. In your raw video files, which had the best overall image?
Action 5 pro looks good so far. Maybe it'll be my next pick, but I think I'm going to wait a year for price drop. I was actually thinking of buying a cheap A4 bundle now, but in clmparison the wow-factor is not that verry big above the Hero 12. Still having my Hero12 now. Btw, the Hero12 isn't that bad either, although having a smaller image sensor. I believe those other camera's having a dedicated night mode, the hero12 does not and you need to tweak it a bit in the settings. Once tweaked it holds up fairly. Took it with me into pitch black caves and mines. And it did a quite decent job. It only gets a bit grainy at some point, but you could work around that a bit. And at some tweaking point, stabilisation does not seem to work that well anymore. But besides that, it did quite a decent job. Way better then in the "normal" preset, many people seem to use it in.
Ace Pro. The Action 5 has the look of shooting for a higher ISO or higher EV setting, which makes the image brighter, but makes the already brighter parts forced too high. I have a bit of the same complaint with my OP3, but setting EV on that down -0.3 settles it down. Action 5 was exposing your face nicely, at the expense of the background.
Ace Pro is the winner. It handles artificial light very well and has good control of lens flares. Overall image looks the most natural. Action 5 Pro is very unpleasant at the night. Oversharpness, overclarity that really stings the eyes. However, it could be easiliy fixed with firmware update. Shame on GoPro in low light.
Action 5's "supernight" mode is more likely a trashnight mode. For those who think a firmware update can fix the over-sharpening issue: DJI needs those sharpening to make the image looks have more details but actually not. Detail is lost thanks to the software denoising. And Ace Pro's purevideo is way more natural looking to me.
Great review 👍. Just my opinion to low light capabilities of action cams: I wouldn't invest 1 Cent in low light capabilities of action cams, because Smart Phones do a better job, and I have it always with me. An I never recorded any action video under low light.

Yes 10 bit is a great addition to have when color grading your footage for sure, but people were very happy with 8 bit for years. I will wait to give my final thoughts on the Action 5 Pro after DJI releases a firmware update to see if they can correct some issues. The Ace Pro looks very good in low light and not as overexposed and over sharpened like the Action 5 Pro. Then don't forget the rumors of the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, it might have 10 bit color too and even more enhancements :)
None of those looks bad to me. I initially was going with the 5 Pro, but when you started walking again I had to slide back to the 360 Ace Pro. But again, NONE of those look bad to me. (And now I'm back to the 5 Pro.)
If you are a photographer and are familiar with light, sensor and shutter speed settings, you will fully understand that the only difference between Action 4 and Action 5 is their shutter speed. If you pause the video while something is moving in the video, the motion blur is completely visible in the Action 5 videos, and this is due to the disproportionate shutter speed. On the other hand, high ISO settings are also known, and they have tried to balance all of these with high sharpening settings, which has caused over-sharpening. Finally, I have to say that I don't know anything about the new sensor of Action 5, but this result could have been achieved with the same previous sensor, which was rejected by DJI in Action 4 due to the quality loss. If we consider the loss of quality in the videos, in my opinion ace pro offers better videos. thank you for this videos , it is really helpfull for people who wants to buy new camera

I always appreciate your video comparisons, Interesting results, I have to say the Hero 12 was not as bad as I thought it would be, but with saying that, Action 5 pro brighter but I can't necessarily say better as the Ace Pro looks overall better, but then the Action 4 also looked good at times. Red? I don't understand that comment. Regarding using a Full Frame camera with a f/2.8 lens, yes I have along with a T1.2 lens all the time in my part time gig and in low light, the Sony A7SIII rocks with a super clean image.
Hey Allen, I can do one of it side by side with the Go 3S in my final review video of it. Still waiting on DJI to release a new firmware for the Action 5 Pro to address some "minor" issues, this camera has a LOT of potential :)

Ace Pro 1st and Action 4 2nd imo. It just looks too fake on Action 5 as if someone is pointing a giant soft flash light from the back, Action 4 feels more natural.
Ace Pro wins this in my opinion, cleaner overall image, the Action 5 Pro has way too much sharpening added and looks overexposed where the Ace Pro is more balanced overall. Thanks for this video
Agree'd but walking the Ace Pro didn't have those micro jitters like the Action 5 Pro, you can really see it at the last clip of the video walking on the sidewalk
@@WORTHITORNOT Great comparison video. I wish they could come up with a firmware that eliminate those micro jitters. But despite that, the OA5 is clearer and crisper. Knowing this limitation, just don't move it too much if want to use it in extreme low light.

The Action 5 and the Ace Pro certainly bring the the daylight but the Hero12 isn't so bad that I'd pony up the extra coins for the other cameras. I suppose it depends on how much somebody's recording in low light, for me, that's not much at at all. ...AND I can put the extra money in my beer fund!
On OA5Pro the image is bent from center to edges, as always on OA since 1st issue. Very unpleasant. And yes, jitters aswell. Not bad, but still IAP looks better overall. Just MO.
Thanks you again for a nice and unbiased comparison. Here are my thoughts and comparison based on my observation in your video. @1:30 the Ace Pro wins. The details on the clock tower is also visible and clear. The Action 5 I think is too enhanced, which removes the natural color. @1:54 The Ace Pro again wins, followed by the ACtion 4, then the Hero 12 and lastly by the Action which had a lot of light noise bleeding. @2:58, still the same order. Ace Pro, Action 4, Hero 12 and Action 5. Again, the enhancement of the Action 5 is way too much in my opinion. @3:12 the Action 4 leads the pack with natural skin tone and details. Then the Ace Pro, Hero 12 and Action 5. @3:33 the Action 5 is better in this scenario. @3:50 Ace Pro leads again, then Action 4, Action 5 and lastly Hero 12 @4:42 The Ace Pro leads again, then Action 5, Action 4 and lastly the Hero 12. Conclusion: The Ace Pro leads in many aspects in low light shooting while it remains the natural color. Surprisingly, the Action 4 is way better in shooting at night giving better results than the Action 5. However, there are some cases that the Action 5 looks better than its predecessor. The Go Pro Hero 12, like the rest of its older models (and even the new), is poor in dark lit environments. But in some cases, it can look better than the Action 5 but not the Action 4 and definitely not close to the Ace Pro. Verdict: Insta360 Ace Pro - is the winner in dark lit/low light environment. Don’t test older action camera. Cause we have the GoPro Hero 13 Black and DJI Action 5 Pro and wait for the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 to come out. Then you really test low light.

@@Nayakhalid14 All action cameras have flares, from GoPro to SJCAM. The added lens cover is to protect the lens but also adds another layer of glass which will inherently cause this with any camera, some more than others. If it bothers you that much maybe an action camera from another brand will fit your needs better.
I really don't like those low light modes. Image is oversharpened and denoising makes it look like a painting. When you divide the screen to show all 4 at once it may look not that bad, but it's very misleading. Would be nice if you would compare them in manual modes, set ISO and shutter speed to the same value, turn off denoising and sharpening.
I try to make everyone happy, but fail at times. The 4 screen is to show them side by side so the viewer/consumer can see which one they prefer. I appreciate the comment and suggestion

Hi, great video. I don't know what DJI did with the latest model. For me Ace Pro is the best. But if have to choose only between Action 4 and 5 Pro i'll choose the 4 because even if it's darker it hasn't the security cam look as the 5 Pro 😂

A TIE between the Insta360 Ace Pro and the DJI Action 5 Pro, with the edge going to the DJI Action5 a bit crisper, a true surprise.

Yes the Action 4 is still a solid camera and in my video showing all 4 of these in sunny conditions they all looked really good.
1:54 look at those cone shaped lens flare on the action 4 and 5 from the street lights on the right.
That comes from the Lens cover, those flares go away when you remove the cover.

Very close between the Ace Pro and Action 5 Pro. I thought Action 5 Pro was slightly sharper in image but the face looked better on the Ace Pro.

I think the cip power makes the difference big time, with the process power li,e is the case with smartphones now.

I've watched several "action 4 vs action 5 pro" videos. Every one I've watched shows to my eyes I prefer the action 4!

Higher ISO and more sensitive sensor will cause that, I can repeat that with my Sony A7SIII also. The Action 4 is still a solid camera.

DJI Action 5 Pro oversharpening is very horrible
Action 5 Pro has the brightness turned up several notches. Looks unnatural.
Wow, really blown away by the A5P. Seeing it's low-light performance, knowing there are some firmware improvements coming...it maybe my new purchase. I thought I was going to save money and get an A4, but now...not so sure. Love that train station!

I for one appreciate these side by side videos, as most people don’t realize how much work goes into editing these clips together. Bravo man. The Action 5 is brighter but I personally like the image from the Ace Pro better.
I was flipping back and forth between the two.
@thefutureisnow6972 Ain't that the truth, I hate editing multi-cam videos, I bet he spent a few hours on just this 5 minute video let alone shooting the clips.

I don't know what DJI did with the latest model.
For me Ace Pro is the best. But if have to choose only between Action 4 and 5 Pro i'll choose the 4 because even if it's darker it hasn't the security cam look as the 5 Pro 😂
