Was right there with ya. Going to be on my 5th canik with my next purchase. Want the new micro but I first bought the TP9 SF model and was blown away with the trigger.
I am ABSOLUTELY 💯% going to get into comp shooting and this has been on my radar for months. Everything about this pistol screams winner winner 🥇 🐔 dinner!!! I can’t wait to get mines. Thanks for another great and convincing review! 👍🏾 👌🏾 ✅
I got to shoot one on Friday. Nils and others were building a stage for the weekend and Nils asked if anyone would like to try the new Rival-S. Of course all of us went and shot it. I shoot a Tanfoglio and it handled just like it. Very flat shooting and indexing was just like my Tanfo even though my pistol has a red dot and the Rival was open sights. The MSRap is about $220 more than the poly frame. Canik made a great value even better.
@Warren Rosen Open is the playground I started with 😉 Had an M&P 9L performance center I built into a 9 Major gun. Shot it till I cracked the slide (repaired it) and shot out a KKM barrel. It's replacement was a 2011 custom build by Atlas Gunworks, .38SC. Love it to death but it got too expensive to shoot, or my reluctance to pay up to feed it. Carry Optics is almost as good and cheaper to shoot 9 minor.
I have 4 Caniks now, bought my first years ago when they started selling over here, told all my snobby friends had them shoot it they still didn't get it, now they want to shoot my guns, lol. Best triggers out there love my Rival Darkside!
I recently got my gun rights restored (dumb teenager stuff) and decided this was the first purchase I'd make. I went this Friday and paid for it. I'm super excited to try it out!
I have a Canik Rival Darkside and it is fantastic, the trigger is the best striker fired trigger on the market. Nothing comes near these for value, function and included accessories.
I was looking for any Rival S and went to the authorized dealer an hour away he had 1 Canik in the store and it was a compact. I went to a local store looking for a PCC and asked if they had any Caniks any to my surprise the salesman said they had just received the Darkside which is what I wanted. I looked it and tested the weight in my hands. I was sold immediately and 20 minutes later it was in my car going home. The trigger is nicer than my TP9 SFX Combat Elite. This is my tactical carry not a competition.
So far my favorite review on the Canik Rival-S. I really like that you focus on accuracy. In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of the Chrome version vs the Black Dark Side version???
I had a original SFX and realy loved it but hated the texture square dots that Canik does on their polymer guns. This one interests me as they got rid of that. The Walther pre-cocked sticker is arguably the best striker fire design ever
I think I'll take that over the Armscor RIA 5.0 steel vs. aluminum frame, custom built from the factory with all accessories and a watertight case, I don't care where the thing is built as long as it is a true value and I think CANIK just hit a real home run, I just watched Gun stories and Joe toured the new Armscor factory in Utah, and it looked great but those guns are just plain weird, Armscor needs to just make guns like CANIK and secure an American made line of more traditional firearms then they can experiment with weird designs!
Canik should consider the following pistols in the future: _SFX Rival Steel 10_ in 10mm _METE SFT 10_ in 10mm _METE SF 40_ in .40 S&W _TP380 Elite Combat_ in .380 ACP _TP380 Elite SC_ in .380 ACP _METE SC 30_ in .30 Super Carry _METE MC 30_ in .30 Super Carry
I managed to hit a steel silhouette target like his at 300 yards with my polymer Rival on 2 out of 3 shots. Now, that was probably dumb luck, but these pistols will do it if the shooter can!!

I venture to say that Canik stole Walther's designs and made improvements. Plinkster didn't talk about it much, but the Canik Rival trigger is a delight to pull.

Canik has just been amazing and a freedomsmith trigger shoe makes it even better in the old models but new models don't need anything
Cheap Turkiye hunting shotguns kind of dull down their reputation. Most nations produce, or produced, at least one damn fine platform.
