@@lucasblanchard47 he's talking about M&P 2.0 Metal Frame, It's like The Budget Race Gun Pistol from S&W Which is a competitor to this but S&W has an aluminium frame
Canik used to have .380 ACP and .40 S&W variants of some of their older steel models, but after getting into polymer models in 2012 they only stuck with 9mm except for a one-off TP40 in 2013. Canik should really consider a TP380 Elite Combat and Elite SC, a TP40 SFX, and a METE10 SFT and SFX.
I took a chance a few years ago and bought a TP9SFx, The trigger had a long pull, but the sear and reset were great. I replace the trigger, put a Glock spring in it and comp set up and it was nail driver for half the price of most comp guns. Loved it so much, I bought the Mete SFx when it came out. I was not disappointed. I added a solid brass backstrap to lessen the barrel flip on recoil and nothing else. It looks like I will have to pick up this pistol to complete my Canik trifecta. I love solid steel guns, but have not found one since my Springfield Trophy Match 1911 that I like as well. This may be one to compete with it!
Picked up my first Canik recently, absolutely love it! it’s my new go to over my Glock. I like how Canik keeps making changes and introducing new models. Just wish they would start to offer other calibers like 45ACP, 40sw and 10mm.
It's only a matter of time. They have refined this gun pretty much to its limit at this point. The only way to offer anything new for the platform is to change up the caliber.
When they had their _Canik 55_ steel-frame CZ-pattern line-imported by TriStar to the US in the 2010s before the pandemic-some of the models had variants in .380 ACP and .40 S&W but as the TP9 series took off, they focused on that alone and with it the 9mm only. But I really believe they need to go back to playing with other calibers, especially since now the brand is way bigger and people want the variety. Pistols I'd like to see from Canik are: _SFX Rival Steel 10_ in 10mm Auto _METE SFT 10_ in 10mm Auto _METE SF 40_ in .40 S&W _TP380 Elite Combat_ in .380 ACP _TP380 Elite SC_ in .380 ACP _METE SC 30_ in .30 Super Carry _METE MC 30_ in .30 Super Carry

I got to shoot one on Friday. Nils and others were building a stage for the weekend and Nils asked if anyone would like to try the new Rival-S. Of course all of us went and shot it. I shoot a Tanfoglio and it handled just like it. Very flat shooting and indexing was just like my Tanfo even though my pistol has a red dot and the Rival was open sights. The MSRap is about $220 more than the poly frame. Canik made a great value even better.
Just purchased this in the darkside version from my local firearm store. When i held it, i couldn't put it down lol. The cost was $799 and is worth it. Shot it next day and it shoots amazing, spot on, no issues whatsoever with variety of ammo. Still figuring out which grip size works best for be, i wear 2xl gloves. Wow, if I didn’t already have a Shadow 2 and aTP9sfx ( that I’ve done some mods to) I’d run out today and get this one In my humble opinion Canik has left Glock, S&W, Ruger etc. in the dust for innovation, value and features. And now they’re closing in on CZ and Staccato with this gun. I’m lusting for it because my first hand experience with the inordinate reliability and accuracy of the tp9. (Anyone ever seen the video where the reviewer shot six or seven different performance center competition guns from a pistol vice and the Canik made the tightest groups? All the other were at least 2x to 4x the price of the out of the box Canik.) Solid Review!
ooh. i hope theyre gonna do the elite size *15 rounder* in a steel frame.. I got a SF Elite and a regular full size SF. Might need to add this to the arsenal. awesome!
* * One of the best gun review I have ever seen ! * * ..............................................................................................BRAVO!
Beautiful , that s a game changer . Forged frame is stronger and the way it look is defenitely Buck Rogers . The only metal frame Canik that i have is the Canik Shark 55 hammer fired pistol.
Canik has been knocking it out of the park! They make a great striker fired pistol for the price and value. It’s like a sore peter you just can’t beat er!
Looks amazing ! My only small gripe is they didnt extend the dust cover to the end of the slide like a CZ Shadow ,since its a competition pistol the added weight under the muzzle would help tame recoil even more
But what if the weight is centered more mid slide more. Wouldn't that help it remain a flatter shot than introducing more weight to the front specifically? I think the back end has more milled out on the interior to keep the weight down on that end as well. Not sure though.
This Looks pretty sweet! However I just bought my TP9SFX in January 2021 so not really in the market to replace yet; really could not tell much difference between the Mete and Rival when they launched last year mild differences. Will keep on my list for possible replacement down the road.
Since we got her a better for her hand a size Hellcat Pro and I insisted on upgrading it with an Apex trigger and then my Jeep broke down I haven't bought a Rival Dark Side yet. Now it seems like a good thing! I'm retiring my Dan Wesson .44 6" VH from EDC use and at (if i remember right) around 3.5 pounds the Rival-S should feel light after the DW, and I just prefer a steel gun any way. p.s. Just wanted to say thank you for the blooper reel at the end of the videos!
I told myself I needed to stop with my Canik obsession... With a Canik Family of 15, there was no room for additional Canikiblings.... Looks like my Canik family will increase to 16 when this is released 😳😳😢😢😢
I've been browsing for a non external hammer all metal 9mm for 2 years. Now I've seen 2 in 2 days. Got to admit I'm more excited about the RIA 5.0 but this one seems more traditional
I recently shot a Canik Rival, exceeded my expectations for accuracy, I own a CZ Shadow 2, so I know what accurate is. Question: For us non-competition shooters who don't need to get back on target quickly and just want an accurate gun, is the Rival-S really more accurate than the Rival?
Looks like it lays the spent cases in a nice consistent pile. I was waiting for a $13-$1500 price tag.....what a surprise. Is the Dark side cerekote or nitride? Thanks Sootch00
Finally a badass quality steel pistol that is affordable, and not "murdered out black"!! I'll take this color/finish over all "overrused" black guns anyday!
Turkey is pronounced like Turki-yeah in Turkey. Anyways nice pistol review. The reason why Canik don’t come out with new calibers is they literally don’t exist in Turkey. It is very hard to find ammo except anything in 9x19 or 45ACP.
Tp9 elite SC just got one for $379 @ academy 411 out the door…3.5” barrel, same great trigger break but more travel before it goes bang and a very nice/short reset. Comes with a IWB/OWB holster and 12/15 round mags.
I'm planning to get one in black. I really like my rival so I am certain this will be just even better. Very excited about this one. I personally do not the look of silver one at all. Why they make chocolate and vanilla.....
As always nice video 👍. Could you review the Tanfoglio Defiant Stock Master? I bought the 10mm version a year ago, I have shot only about 200 rounds and so far no issues.
No other manufacturer can beat the trigger on a canik even though that guns way too big to carry I know it has a fantastic trigger because of who made it
This is my 3rd time watching this review. I'm a huge Canik fan: SC, Mete & a Rival. Do I need an S?... nope. Do I want one? Absolutely! Thx for all you do... always good reviews.

3 months later and trying to find one of these at MSRP, let alone below, is lol status. They're going for 1200-1400 on gunbroker. Sad, because as a metal gun enthusiast who loves stainless steel and favors accuracy and recoil management over all, this is right up my alley.
sootch00, small but I believe important clarification at 9:14, where you describe the "cocked" striker indicator. I know you understand how it works, but I think you should clarify that when you see the red dot of the indicator, it means that the striker is cocked, which of course would mean that if there's a round in the chamber it will fire, or that the striker will still activate if the chamber is empty. But the way you explain it, at least to me, it sounded like you were stating that if you don't see the red dot on the striker, it doesn't mean that the chamber is loaded or empty. But if you don't see the red dot, that would actually mean that the striker has fired, and therefore there couldn't be a live round in the chamber. Make sense?
It looks like nice 9mm high capacity pistol for target or competition shooting or even home defense and reasonably priced for this sort of pistol. I never heard of the manufacturer and these pistols. I'll have to check them out in the future.

Man that gun is beautiful. Love my mete. If I ever get into competitive shooting, rival or rival s is going to be the way I go.
Damn that looks nice, I've been wanting another full size and I think this is it!
GOD DAMMIT! I JUST BOUGHT a Rival and have not even got to shoot it yet!
NOW I want this one INSTEAD!
This will look really nice next to my tanfoglio defiant stock master. Can't wait to get one of these.
Canik is becoming very popular in Poland due to good quality and resonable prices. Before the market was divided mainly between Glock and CZ.
ooh. i hope theyre gonna do the elite size *15 rounder* in a steel frame.. I got a SF Elite and a regular full size SF.
Might need to add this to the arsenal.
awesome!
* * One of the best gun review I have ever seen ! * *
..............................................................................................BRAVO!
Picking up mine today, it will be my 3rd Canik, have the TP9SFX, and Canik MC-9
Looks amazing ! My only small gripe is they didnt extend the dust cover to the end of the slide like a CZ Shadow ,since its a competition pistol the added weight under the muzzle would help tame recoil even more
But what if the weight is centered more mid slide more. Wouldn't that help it remain a flatter shot than introducing more weight to the front specifically? I think the back end has more milled out on the interior to keep the weight down on that end as well. Not sure though.
Bro... they are straight showing off with their machine work on that slide amazing.
Perhaps Turkey is the new Belgium!? They make tons of guns, and parts for many gun companies elsewere.
Got mine two months ago. Love it
I have a few Caniks and they are absolutely amazing!!!
Rival-S is 2.6 lbs. (41.8 oz.)
Boy! Canik did it again~~ another home run here 🤘
I told myself I needed to stop with my Canik obsession... With a Canik Family of 15, there was no room for additional Canikiblings.... Looks like my Canik family will increase to 16 when this is released 😳😳😢😢😢
@@pickleeater3102 My only addiction.. I never bought a pistol till April 2021, now I friggen love everything about them
OMG! Canik really up their game!
I just bought a Rival Trophy edition before they announced the new Rival-S. I would have waited for this pistol if I'd known.
That's the best looking Canik I've ever seen!!!
It just looks gorgeous. And I love canik
Canik has yet to disappoint 💯
A Canik slimline would be Awesome! For example-G48 slim.
I've been browsing for a non external hammer all metal 9mm for 2 years. Now I've seen 2 in 2 days. Got to admit I'm more excited about the RIA 5.0 but this one seems more traditional
I agree with you I love the SS , this is the best Video for the Rival S
Thanks Thomas!
This just in, soccer isn’t called football in Merica
This is a great gun to shoot. For all you get and an awesome trigger right out of the box.
Would like to see them make a sub compact
Tp9 elite SC just got one for $379 @ academy 411 out the door…3.5” barrel, same great trigger break but more travel before it goes bang and a very nice/short reset. Comes with a IWB/OWB holster and 12/15 round mags.
@@greatcornholio5541 thanks! Have never seen that model at my local store
Patnik Solutions has integrated rear sight adapter plates for RMR patterned optics that fit this firearm.
You sold another pistol - I am a believer after buying the Mete a couple years ago. .
The looks are growing on me, great review as usual!
I'm planning to get one in black. I really like my rival so I am certain this will be just even better. Very excited about this one. I personally do not the look of silver one at all. Why they make chocolate and vanilla.....
I have long been interested in Canik, THIS just sealed the deal.
Just when I was saving up to get their Miami pistols. Canik can't leave my poor wallet alone!
As always nice video 👍.
Could you review the Tanfoglio Defiant Stock Master? I bought the 10mm version a year ago, I have shot only about 200 rounds and so far no issues.
Petition for this in a 15-17 shot 10mm!!! 😜
What a tank of a pistol! 👍
Is the black version two tone, or all black?
Update: all black.
I’m the like button for all the times he mentioned the weight 😂
No other manufacturer can beat the trigger on a canik even though that guns way too big to carry I know it has a fantastic trigger because of who made it
Yes, that trigger is crazy good! Thanks Sammy
Great review Don……..amazing gun, can’t wait to get one!
Thanks Skeeter! Hope you're doing well Brother~
@@sootch00 I am, looking forward to seeing you next time we are down!
Now that is a beautiful pistol thanks for the review
Pretty cool looking gun!😉 I like the finish!
Just love the bloopers!! Keep ‘em coming.😉
Great review! Looks like an awesome pistol. Can't wait to shoot one.
Really like this one. Might have to have one
30 rounders FTW !!!!!!!!!
Great videos as always brotha. KEEP UP THE great work =)
Thanks Allen! I appreciate it brother~

This is my 3rd time watching this review. I'm a huge Canik fan: SC, Mete & a Rival. Do I need an S?... nope. Do I want one? Absolutely! Thx for all you do... always good reviews.
What a beautiful gun.
Everything is absolutely perfect 👍🏽. Only thing is does not have a large “flared mag well”
I just picked up the Grey rival for my first pistol the other day. Then the next day seen these were coming which was disappointing. I like the stainless steel.
Beautiful work of art great review! Thank you for this one!
i was already sold at "all metal pistol" i am currently interested in competition shooting and i am going to get this pistol right here
I’d love this in 10mm, 40 would be nice as well, everything is in 9mm and better calibers are here, 10mm in a 5” barrel like this, even 6” would be great
Would love a 40
.40 S&W is avaiable....
@@Loki-yf2lw says 9mm only on caniks website
Sorry, i saw .40 S&W on the Homepage...
But now I saw the n/a behind....
This doesnt make sense...but anyway...9mm only
@@Loki-yf2lw no problem, this is a beautiful pistol and I have plenty of those fine mecgar mags to help, 10 mm would be the icing on that cake but I’m not gonna hold my breath on that spendy round as much as I want it
Great review brother. Another outstanding piece from Canik!
Thanks Mike!
I have the Rival Darkside a few months ago. If I knew this was coming out, I would've held out. But, I do love my Rival.
How did it get the nickname Darkside when it’s just a plain black gun. What am I missing?
@@srobeck77 there is also a lighter colored rival
In a way, it looks like the Meister Manufaktur Black Tie - Walther
Tool kit case is the coolest part, super cute!
That is a beautiful piece.
I’ve always been an HK and Walther guy but I’m sorely tempted.
Wish we could see the dark side as well
U won't look back.
I’ve been looking at a shadow 2 variant or the Walther Q 5 SF.
This might be my first steel gun. Just got to convince the wife.
@@bobbbobb1624 If you're interested in the CZ Shadow, you should check out the SAR 2000 and SAR K12 in 9mm or the SAR K2 in .45 ACP. The same design and reliability but cheaper.
Make sense?
now you know whenever ol' Sootch uploads another gun video, and to quote Tiny Tina from "Borderlands 2":
"THIS GONNA BE GOOD"!!!!
Lol! Thanks Doc~
This pistol is gorgeous.
Were inching ever closer to my dream. A canik tp9 with a beavertail..
Those machinists sure got carried away with carving it up lol
It looks like nice 9mm high capacity pistol for target or competition shooting or even home defense and reasonably priced for this sort of pistol. I never heard of the manufacturer and these pistols. I'll have to check them out in the future.
Tbh I felt the same way last year an purchased one an mannnn it is a great shooter probably the best trigger I’ve ever shot with. Great price point an get a lot for it in box
@@hoodsta_Pizzo
Glad you are enjoying it. The trigger looks great on the video and trigger pull at 3.5 lbs. has to be a plus.
The trigger is the real steal. Reviewers saying it’s as good as the $1500 Walther competition gun
The best thing Canik did was designing by the Walther ppq platform with the SFX series.
