This is no lie. I shot the Rival -S a couple of weekends ago. It was like a whole new world opened up and invited me in to play. I've got a p320 Legion that I love, but this blows it away.
I cannot wait to get one. Don't you just love how smooth it shoots? That gun hardly rises at all from the recoil. He shoots it almost effortlessly. My FFL guy already has one on back order for me. Can't wait to get it!!! Keep doing what you're doing, Canik!!!

So glad to see that gun in the dark side edition. This is the first one I have seen in the wild that is not that terrible all silver model. Personal preference, but I'm very excited about this gun, but only if not shiny silver. I have a regular rival and will jump on the S. Thanks for showing the gun.
@@NilsJonasson its funny because my TP9-SFX has a very light spring on the mag so i can load them fairly qucik, not as fast as you but you failry quick, my Elite SC and my Glock G45 have stronger springs in the mag and those are tougher to load.
Yeah, Nils probably loads 10 or 15k rounds in mags per year. I own two Caniks, my latest a Rival Dark. SA pistol mags have ridiculous spring pressure brand new, finger busters. Canik rocks in every way!
I love my canik rival. It's my favorite out of all my sigs, berettas, Springfield, etc. I'm waiting until I can get my hands on the rival S. Mahalo and Aloha sir for creating it. 🤙
I liked your video especially the part about the space gun. Matt McLearn has built all my other guns but I can honestly say after watching this review and picking up a steel frame this is really the only production gun that touches Matt’s guns. I always wondered the wisdom of transitioning from his blasters to Caniks but after getting a Rival S and the trigger it’s a much easier transition. Best of luck man keep going fast and not sucking.
Matt is the 1911/2011 King. Awesome gunsmith and a better guy. I just stoped by Matt’s new shop in Ohio last week after the USPSA Carry Optics Nationals. Gave him a chance to shoot the new steel frame, and he was impressed.
My favorite brand is Canik , another channel said you were the a world champion shooters and helped design the rival and even input on the TTI so I had to subscribe.
Finally saw one in stock at Classic Firearms and had to pull the trigger. Ran the plastic Turkish Perfection all last season and loved it. My only complaints were it was light and I didn't love the grip texturing, specifically on the front portion of the grip. This gun will solve both of those issues. I'm excited.
Just starting shooting comp at RSSC with my TP9, and I'm looking forward to saving up my sheckels to get the Rival-S for my birthday in May. Love that so many great shooters are Mesa boys.

I really got happy when I heard about the new CANIK SFXRival-S . I got the Darkside Also a TP9 SC Elite with a thread barrel and same flat trigger on the Rival . I definitely getting my Rival -S soon .
I just got my Rival DS because, even though I compete in IPSC with a Sig P320 Max , I had to check it out and see if I could channel my own inner Nils lol ! Great gun and even tho with a Lok brass backstrap it’s still only 34 oz , it really nailed all the comp drills I put it thru right away. 12 more oz has gotta be awesome. One thing I really like, that no one seems to mention , is that the internal magwell is really well done - mags just fly in - which is a big deal as I shoot PO with a 10 cap . But, I’m stuck in Canada, so until we get another govt, no sweet heavy frame Rival S for me .I think I actually got one of the last Rivals imported so I’ll count myself lucky. Should have bought 2 …
Checked it out at Shot Show, we discussed this Rival-S version. It's a must-have gun for anyone. The METE MC9 & the Rival-S are on my list, just waiting for my FFL to get them in.
That was awesome. I just found out that I was able to order the crome one and should have it next week. I have the Mete right now, but have been wishing for a steel frame and here it is. I am sure a lot of shooters will be wanting to try mine out when I get. I shoot USPSa, IDPA & Steel Challenge.
it is pronounced like John-eek. thanks for the video. I used one of these pistols in Turkey at a shooting range and they told me 20000 rounds with it and no problems at all. I also tried Turkish 1911 Zigana I believe. That was a good gun as well.

When to find one after seeing this...could not find one in the Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas area. Did handle the Polymer version and the trigger is pretty sweet. Hopefully they start shipping more guns. 😀
Man I have the walther dynamic performance aftermarket trigger in a walther pdp. Picked up this rival-s last week and the factory trigger is better than my aftermarket walther one. Canik has best out of the box trigger and it isn't even close.

I was able to get my hands on the Rival-S. It is much heavier than I expected. Very flat shooting. It took me a few rounds to get used to the trigger. I was pulling left a bit at first so I adjusted my grip to accommodate my finger position. I have short fingers and fat palms so I have to adjust for the more forward position of the 90* trigger. It was a demo so it may have had the larger grips. Other than that it ran smooth. I’m gonna keep playing with it at the range for sure. Compared it to my Sig X5 Legion, my Mete SFX, and a Staccato P just for kicks. I do like the positive re-set on the trigger a lot! That was missing from the X5 that I did not realize until the comparison. I had to wait longer for the X5 to re-set. It held its own against the Staccato. Completely different beast of course. Keep on posting content!! Good luck in 2023!!

I loved my TP9 SFx. My only gripe with it was the fact that the stock recoil spring would not work with my 130pf ammo. It didn't work with my friends either (yes we bought the same gun to match, hes my Brofriend). But switching it out with a Glock After market spring it works great. I love the interchangeability with glock parts. I will get another Canik soon.

i don't understand the differences between the TP9's, the Rival's and the Mete series. Why 3 different names ?? Are they all built different or unique to each group ?
The TP9 is our original frame design. The Mete and Rival pistols share our newer frame design, but the Mete is geared more towards the tactical crowd while the Rival is more target/competition oriented.
Nils, I am in the process of considering if I want to buy steel or polymer version of SF-X Rival. Of course it is about personal preference always. Could you tell me the ratio/percentage which version you shoot in matches? Thank you and thanks for your great content here on youtube, champ!

I did a test of 6 pistols and this one felt the smoothest of all the ones I tried at the range. It was better than the Staccato that was $2400.

Mine had issues.They are sending new springs and base plates. Do you know where I can see how to fully disassemble (including mag release) the pistol?

My wife is running the W74 tungsten guide Ron and 14lb recoil spring.

What do you think of the BPS (Turkish) ammo, 124fmj? It's been shooting good for me once I juiced up the striker spring to eliminate light hits.

I recently just purchased the original rival because I can't find the rival s in stock anywhere for msrp.
Will you still run a lighter recoil spring in it? Ported barrels are legal in idpa now , so it would shoot even flatter

@@NilsJonasson all they had was the chrome and that's the one I wanted. Different, reminds me of the chrome 911 that I had. Only much bigger and better.
