That cleaned up really well, I'm surprised and impressed! Interesting comments and alternative ideas too. Today I learned about a professional method for cleaning paper which is to grate a high quality pencil eraser and rub that over the card, which avoids any moisture getting to it. They were using it for old postcards with stamps. All the people talking about saliva are mad. Saliva contains proteins and bacteria which are the last things you want all over your cards - especially if you're going to sell them!
This method works wonders! I have a VERY dirty set of 5th Edition Urza tron lands from when I was a dumb kid and didn't care for my cards. They look very close to mint now, minus some dings that are only apparent at certain angles. I took a dirty Tangle from INV and got it looking very nice, as well!
i do it with multipurpose cleaning towels. you know the ones that are slightly wet and once you dry them a littler they work amazingly. i do like to clean my old cards aka those that habe the white border and/or the ones that are 20+ years old
I didn't know that kind of crud cleaned up so easily with water. I can confirm the fingernail method isn't good as I've dented cards trying it. Good thing I've got mostly cheap cards! Thanks for the tip!
I practiced a bit with older cards not worth much - I feel pretty comfortable doing with any cards now, and sometimes it really is surprising how nice they get! I've definitely water damaged some though, so just remember patience is key!
Bro lol! I have never watch a video that made me realize how much I needed to clean my monitor let alone my magic cards! I was all, Hey you missed a spot.... opps that's me.
Guys, Make up brushes. They are designed to move powder and oil. They will move dust and accumulated fingerprint oil off of the card for you if you just buff it out. If you were looking for no water option.
Personally I would still never recommend putting any moisture on card whatsoever I would say if you have a pricey card and it's got some grime on it just leave it there cleaning it with moisture will just decrease the value
Eh, I've yet to have a problem cleaning any of my pricey cards using these tricks, though there is always risk. It's not something I would jump into with something like a dual land, but I don't think the risk is high if you can be patient, take your time, and don't force it expecting perfection.
I am by no means an expert, but I'm pretty sure taking water to your cards is a terrible idea. there are some resources online done by people in the comic book collectibles industry. they detail some products and techniques specifically for that purpose.
There is risk in doing this, but the more you do it the more comfortable you become with it. As long as I've been patient I've yet to damage anything valuable - but I've also usually only done this on cards that are already fairly beat up so I'm not exactly working with pristine items lol
In reality I use rubbing alcohol not so harsh well still less prone to water damage but that doesn't mean saturate it and is not impervious so less is more. Last thing is a magic eraser with light and I mean get light pressure if any way all.
If you have any questions on sprucing up your cards let’s me know! Happy to share any other tricks I’ve picked up along the way.

Make up remover pads are great, as long as they’re 100% cotton. They’re small and cheap and work wonders .
Back in the day I used rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Do a small amount of the card and then dry with a towel.
Would not recommend using water.
Uh that's bad idea it can remove ink off card

Practice on a card you don't care about. Don't use a "magic" eraser on your cards it will pull the ink off quickly

I’m pretty sure professional art restores use saliva

Use saliva
you shouldn’t make them wet just the rag should be slightly damp
I always just use acetone, it evaporates fast, no water damage and cleans up really well ........................ No please don't do this.

@@travishall6548 interesting I’ve never thought of using straight up water though
I just lick my thumb a little bit
Huuuuge!!! Thank you so much!
You're welcome! Good luck with your card cleaning endeavours!
How yo never clean a mtg card step one dont be dirty seto 2 buy 2 sleeves for the card
It's too valuable to play with... And that bowl of water should be nowhere near the card. It looks NM 8 to me.
