I love how it's not even really breaking through the glass. The shark just slowly glides towards them, nudging the glass with it's nose; shattering the glass instantly.
My mom was in this movie when she was 14. She was the darker skinned girl in the pink polka dot swim suit watching when lea Thompson's leg got bit. She got to meet Dennis Quaid and said he was extremely nice. :)
THATS SO COOL! I Have This Movie On DVD So As Soon As I Read This Comment I Went To My DVD Player Went To That Scene And I Think I Saw Your Mom. The Way You Described Her Is What She Looked Like In The Movie.
"Dennis Quaid stated in a 2015 interview that, of all his films, he had the most aggressive use of cocaine during the filming of Jaws 3D, and that he is high on cocaine in "every frame" in which he appears." WOOWWWWWW hahahaha
I saw “Jaws 3D”, in my local theater, during its original release. I just remember the terrible, paper 3D glasses, and the shark coming right at me! It was amazingly fun! The movie wasn’t great, but the experience was. 😊
It was probably the first 'horror' movie my dad took me to see, as well as the first 3-D movie I've seen. No matter how bad this movie is, I still get a warm nostalgia from that memory whenever I think of Jaws 3.
I personally love it when a movie review exposes things about or in a movie I never knew / noticed. This review was so entertaining and informative. Thank you both so much for doing this. Keep up the good work and please Chris, do more reviews of this kind exposing facts about a movies development past that add layers to an existing impression of a film I know well.

First, let me say I'm a big fan of Hilariocity. Thanks so much for your reviews and retrospectives. I say it affectionately that you're such a geek, from one to another. I grew up in the movie theatre business and was in 3rd grade when the original Jaws came out. It was life-changing; I didn't want to leave the theatre all summer. I always enjoyed hearing the crowd reactions and probably saw JAWS about 30 times that summer. It's hard to convey to those who did not live it at the time how it really changed peoples' attitude about going into the ocean. When we finally took a few days away from the theatre and went down to Daytona Beach at the end of the summer, people genuinely were not going into the water because the movie had made them afraid to. Even the tag to the sequel three years later was "Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water." JAWS 2 was pure fun. We did tons of business with it. I still have my t-shirts that Universal gave us for both films, as well as the posters (including the "Shark Facts" poster), and even a desktop pencil holder, all supplied by Universal to promote the pictures. When JAWS 3D came out, however, I was crushed. To a true fanboy of the first two, it was pure crap. (Lea Thompson was super cute. The "swallowed alive" scene was in extremely poor taste.) I saw it the one time only and refused to go back. The quality of every aspect of it was horrible, from the story to the acting to the FX. I hated seeing young people who had not grown up with the first two (remember, this still pre-dates widely-available home video) seeing my beloved franchise represented so poorly. I felt like Lucas and the Star Wars Holiday Special, wanting to destroy every print. Thankfully, it didn't play all summer the way the other two had, and was gone within just a few weeks. JAWS THE REVENGE was even worse, of course, and still counts among the worst films ever made. PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE may be technically a worse film, but it was made for about five bucks and didn't have a pedigree that included Steven Spielberg. It just made me mad. Anyway, thanks again for the retrospective. They are FAR better than the bad movies themselves (I could never actually watch SAMURAI COP, but your presentation on it was priceless). You help make being a movie geek fun.
Still so in love with the idea of a Seaworld Jaws encounter that this is my favorite save the original. This movie is the only other Jaws film that hits on that primal fear of the shark without having too much shark footage. The studio obviously improved on the shark but never took it to the next level due to budget. The Jaws Nintendo game is a classic when you obtain the submarine the game gets super exciting.
Oh man. This whole review was so spot on. As a kid, watching these for 'the shark parts' was all that mattered. I used to get upset whenever jaws was actually killed. Now it just terrifies me. Something about old 80's effects and how you associate it with childhood that still gets under my skin. (and that eaten alive scene. UGH.) I love the comparisons you guys drew to Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park...yup, this was in that category for me, and all of those were monumental in shaping my likes as a film-goer. It's nice to know how similar your childhood can be to other like-minded folks :) Great vid sir, as always.
Love your reviews! They're hilarious, and I learn something new every time! You said you couldn't believe Dennis Quaid was the kid from the first one: he wasn't-he was the older brother, Mike. Went from working at SeaWorld, to being a marine biologist lol!!
I saw it when it came out in 3D in the theaters when I was a kid. All that stands out to me about that movie from then, was the fish looking like they were inside the theater. It was awesome.
You're right about this movie but I love it. I saw this in the theater when I was a kid, and yes a ton of 3D movies came out at that time and not all were horror movies. This one is my favorite of that 3D craze. I remember the theater had made a giant paper mache shark mouth around the door to the auditorium Jaws 3D was playing in and the audience laughing a screaming and ewwing at the all the 3D scenes. It was really fun to watch, I wish you could go back in time and experience it like that.
I heard that the both late Richard Zanuck and David Brown wanted to team up with National Lampoon and name this movie Jaws 3-People 0. However, the administrators or executives of Universal Pictures told them, "If you fashion the movie that way, you will foul up your nest." They should have fouled up the nest and made the third Jaws film that way. It would have been much more funny and entertaining. Oh well, you cannot turn back the clock. Anyway, another great review from you and your friend, Matt. Keep it up!
+Anonyme I kind of agree. It just really didn't feel like one. Like, they weren't pointing out shitty parts of the movie and making fun of them constantly. It just felt like more of a normal movie review.
Why Universal kept making sequels for ruining the original Steven Spielberg flick? The 3-D effects just gone really cheap and that's why it didn't worked in every scene to give us a scare. Dennis Quaid and Bess Armstrong are in that movie? God, that sucks. Bad direction, script, characters even doing an endorsement deals of Sea World? Terrible idea. Why? It deserves an F. The first Jaws will always be the best than the rest. Great vid, Chris. 😁
I was on the set of this film in Orlando, Florida when I was a kid---then seen it opening night in 3-D at the Odeon here in Saskatoon, Canada---no matter how bad some people say the movie was: It was a magical, memorable experience that I will never forget and always cherish...
fuck yeah being home alone as a kid and watching JAWS and its shitty sequels lol, pizza and horror movies ahhh you reminded me of better days of my youth
This comment made me look up Neil Breen on Wikipedia, then moments later I found myself reading about the effects of the American Revolution on Europe. Neil Breen is a genius!
WWWHAAAT THE FUUUUUU, dude, i didn't know you and Matt were buddies! i enjoy both your videos, so this was a cool surprise. Man, this video was awesome. i gotta find some more Chris Matt crossovers
Hey Chris! After going many months without a decent internet connection I'm finally getting caught up on your reviews. Yep, this is pretty much a bad yet unintentionally hilarious movie. My husband and I saw this when it came out and we laughed our asses off. At one part in the movie where the shark was opening its jaws to attack some hapless victim, my husband whispered to me: "well, at least this is the last time this shark will attack anyone - its dentures almost came flying out." I started laughing so hard that Coke kinda splurted though my nose! (Before anyone says anything, yes I am aware that sharks jaws almost dislocate in order to catch whatever prey they're going after).
i saw this in the theater when it came out,the place was packed and everyone had a blast watching the movie,i loved it and so did everyone in the theater, everyone was reaching up to try and touch the things coming out of the screen and everyone looked stupid as hell wearing those cheesy glasses they passed out,but man, what memories of going to the movies back then,it was a blast.
We used to play that pushing game thing all the time back in elementary/middle school in the 80's/early 90's, but I don't remember if it had a name. The point is to get the other person to move their feet. You keep your hands up and can try to either get them to move back by pushing against them or fake them out and give no resistance so they end up stepping forward when pushing against your zero resistance hands.
To clarify, it doesn't matter much if one person is smaller than the other since you can fake the other person out into stepping forward. So playing against the small woman isn't totally unfair.
the shark breaking through the glass is one of the most beautiful shots in cinema history
I love how it's not even really breaking through the glass. The shark just slowly glides towards them, nudging the glass with it's nose; shattering the glass instantly.
Yes, one of the great moments in cinema history. Totally unforgettable.
That scene scared the heck outta me as a child.
absolutely

The first Jaws is the only Jaws movie.

Yeah. Let's just assume that it was only 1 JAWS movie and the sequels are all ANOTHER franchise called JAWS
+Cade Hunter Apocalypse yeah but i think the second one is alright too
+redindy51 Oh, right. JAWS 1 and 2- Original. JAWS 3D and Revenge- Coincidentally named crappy franchise

Holy shit! It's a young Jon Bernthal!
I thought the same thing!
u read my mind haha
Yep, me too.
Omg yes!! haha
He literally looks almost exactly like him lol. He even has the same hair!
Is that clean-shaven Punisher?

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that
I was literally about to comment that he looked like a young John bernthal! 😂😂
Omg the first thing I noticed too.
Kept waiting for this guy to start rubbing his head
I like how Matt gives us behind the scenes and script info. It really adds to the review, you bounce things off of each other really well.
Very true.
You should do more reviews with Jon Bernthal
Holy shit
I came here to say the exact same thing, haha

The idea of having a great white shark loose in Sea World is probably the best idea I’ve ever heard.
But if only the effects looked much better.

Jaws 2 wasn't THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT bad
Absolutely! :)
Well it was better than jaw 4
It's mediocre. Sure it's not like Jaws 4 or Battlefield Earth but it sure as hell isn't the first Jaws.
No it wasn't, and nothing will be Jaws 1
I watched it again recently and it's REALLY dull. Jaws 3 is far worse but at least it's entertaining.
I fucking love that your friend is in a blanket on the couch ^.^

They do
Well, the only characters I liked was Dr. Grant and the kid.
Would you compare the jaws' sequels with the JP sequels? (getting worse and worse) Excluding Jurassic world.
I never seen JP sequels
James Burgess JP was great, JP 2 was good, JP 3 fucking sucked, and JW was good
Good video Chris!! Bring this guy back on soon.
Chris's room looks like Flick's... this is weird
Most positive Hilariocity review.
