For years I've been a huge fan of jaws3 and to see this footage made me so happy I only wish that they showed the scene on they did Phillips dimise by that I mean when he's inside the sharks mouth my favorite scene in the film
39:59-40:08 Had they used & completed the original electronic composited visual effects in *"JAWS 3-D",* this take of Mama Jaws crashing through the window with the water cascading into the camera would've been far better than what is in the final film.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Been obsessed with this film since the age of 4. Even travelled to Sea World in Orlando expecting to see the Undersea Kingdom as a child. Always wanted to know more about how this movie was made. Mama shark is the best looking shark in the franchise. Thank you for sharing - you've made my day.
Hi Marco, Thanks for your kind respond. I agree with your opinion. They can contact me and make a deal. It was great fun working on that movie so long a go ... :-) (1983) Grz, Erik Visser p.s. In September 2018 I will release my new song & clip "Yolk In The Sky" on RUclips. So stay tuned ...
This film represents one of only a few movies that I would say really brings me back to my childhood. I remember making my dad bring me and my little brother to the theater over and over to watch this. Must have seen it 5 or 6 times on the big screen and loved every minute of it. Atari, The A-Team, and Jaws 3D...man those were the days!
12:22 !!wow!! look at that shark move and the way it's done, not the way jaws (1975) did it with a hand remote and an animatronic shark, they used a pulley-like system with shark in the air.
This is a real treat! You have no idea how thankful and fortunate i am to see this rare footage! Personally Jaws 3D holds a special spot in my heart and despite what many and critics say i have a profound love for the effects in this film for the time it was actually pretty revolutionary and awesome and in my eyes still is!! Thanks a million brother and keep up the good work on your channel just subbed. And actually digging the music! Keep up the awesome work man and thanks for giving me the great childhood memory that is Jaws3D!
Amazing footage to see, this is Gold IMHO. I just wish there was more out there showing the filming of the large shark models inc FitzRoyce getting killed.
@@goji9892 there’s some photos of the larger shark on display at sea world in the 80s after the filming, it was on display for photo ops and such, that’s all I’ve really seen though
@@Project-Jaden I have saw that but I happened to come across a really pixelated photo of a separate shark animatronic which only had a head and used for close ups. You can see that separate animatronic when it’s in the control center before it explodes. I think the one displayed in sea world was used for swimming shots, like when the dolphins attack the shark and its swimming to eat the characters (I forgot there names) you can see real humans and a giant shark, you can even see the robotics holding it at one scene so it must be the animatronic on sea world. Sorry for the long paragraph just wanted to tell you something

Wow. I had no idea they used so many miniatures in this. This is the most comprehensive bts I've seen so far for Jaws 3D. Thank you so much for sharing!
39:47 so this is how the infamous “shark glass” scene was originally supposed to look. Apparently they switched production company’s after this footage, which is why here it actually looks pretty good.
That was awesome! I had seen the 3D version a while back on my Playstation VR system which made the movie look allot better. Now seeing all of the work put into it makes me want to watch again!

The exploding shark effect must been really painstaking to get the shot right. If any error occurred you have to drain and clean that fish tank, fill it back with water putting another shark in. Very nervous work. A lot of miniature work in this movie
This footage is amazing. Thank you for uploading! What was on the U-Matic tape? Have you tried taking it to a professional transfer house and having them bake it to restore it?
Thank you for the amazing upload. Do you know why they never used your version of the shark breaking through the glass and instead went with a terrible special effect in the final product? Also, were you ever around the large shark models? Did you get to see them operate?
We used our version for breaking through the glass. But due to political mishap another company got to finish some FX. The octopus was to be used in Jaws 3D in the amusement park were the shark attacks. It was cut out though. A lot of stuff never makes the screen. All that work for nothin' but it sure was fun ...!
I think the octopus was called _Captain Sink,_ right? You hear it mentioned in one of the scenes with the tourists walking through the Undersea Kingdom. That long arm that comes out of the wall to grab a nearby girl, I think that was meant to be the giant octopus, as if it were attacking the underwater tunnel and one of its arms has gotten inside. The only good thing about this "making of" was the end with the effect exploded of the head shark, the rest a waste of time. No screen of the big mechanical shark..just nothing.
Some absolutely awful special effects that made the 1975 film look advanced. The shark in the last two Jaws movies looked like it was made by children. I know the 3d Tech was new, but they went backwards with the shark.
