This is great! I still remember when this came out in the summer of 83 and seeing it in the theater (about a half a dozen times). I was around 6 or 7 at the time. Very underrated in terms of a fun action/thriller. Atari, The A-Team, and Jaws 3D...those were the days. Thanks for sharing!
I was the same age as you, but I watched it when I was 11. In Sweden, back then , we started learning English at 10 yrs old. Though we do have subtitles
Yes, they were open that day, but the set was on a part of the lagoon beach that wasn't part of any attraction. If I recall, this was situated adjacent to the (then new) Shark Encounter building. A "flamingo paddleboat" dock occupies this space today.
They gave Jaws 2 a documentary on the DVD, but not Jaws 3, a sad oversight, so it's great to see this stuff. The footage of the baby shark is really neat. And the video's quality is really quite good! Well done, and thank you for sharing this.
Ray Stantz Is that the one that aired on TV, hosted by Louis Gossett, Jr? I have seen that one, but it wasn't nearly as informative as the Jaws 2 DVD doc. Incidentally, the greatest source of Jaws 3D info that I am aware of has to be jaws-3d.com/blog/. It's French, but Google's English translation is perfectly acceptable, and it has some fantastic behind-the-scenes photos, exclusive interviews with people at every level of the production (the Gottlieb and Alves interviews are especially illuminating) and a ton of info about the original effects in the film which were replaced by vastly inferior ones.
Ray Stantz Just to be clear, jaws-3d.com/blog/ isn't a documentary, it's a blog dedicated to research and appreciation of the movie. It's a fantastic resource, though.
@Right To Censor Jaws 3 & Amityville 3 both used the same 3D technology that created this weird blurring of the image around the edges of the frame. Friday the 13th part 3 does not have this since they used a different system. However, even watching as 2D movies the image of both Jaws 3 & Amityville 3 is strange looking.
@Right To Censor You're speaking about the 3D being used to release them in the 2010's, Boo. I'm discussing the 3D process used to film these movies and show them in theaters back in the day. They all used the polarized lenses for viewing in theaters. I actually own the Amityville Bluray for 3D TV's and no it does not use the anaglyph 3D with the green(or blue) & red lenses. (That's just something for people to see it in 3D on regular TV sets. Again, you're not looking at what I'm talking with the original 3D processes used to make and then show these films. Jaws 3 & Amityville 3 used the ArriVision 3-D system. Friday the 13th part 3 used 3-Depix cameras from Mark's Polarized Corporation. It's why Friday 3 does not have the odd blurring. Watch all of these in 2 D and you will see what I'm talking about.
@Right To Censor Okay, I mentioned that you need to watch 2D in particular to see what I'm talking about. Check out these shots and you will see it: ruclips.net/video/IMzMccLiMIc/видео.html It's not as clear of an image and it is because of the 3D process that these movies used during production.
VERY COOL! SeaWorld Orlando was so empty then! WOW! Did you see Bess Armstrong or Lea Thompson?! I've always loved this film. How in the world did you find out about this filming AND when the first day of shooting was?! SO COOL! Thank you for posting!
Great footage! Can you remember what camera you used back then? It's surprisingly crisp, fast zoom and quick aperture for 1982. RCA or maybe even the first BetaMovie?
This movie is way more popular than it's given credit for, speilberg is definitely jealous of Alves who did the heavy lifting in Jaws and Jaws 2...it would have made it into the top 10 if it hadn't had been yanked from the theaters after 4 weeks despite still making money.
On youtube you can find "making of Jaws 3d", there is a few shots of this shark under water in special water tank. Unfortunately, I failed to find any other source.
I think jaws was on of the best movie ever made I like jaws 2 but this I've never been more disappointed in a film in my life remember I was so angry over this hate the movie 🦈
All that work for sadly such a trainwreck of a movie. I haven nothing but hatred for this film. I bet most of you didn't waste your time, money, and high hopes in the theater like I did in 1983.
TimeAxisMedia I really want to remake this film with the original screenplay. Yeah I’d make the script better, but the original screenplay is surprisingly good. I don’t know why they decided not to use it and make the terrible film. If they used the original script it would’ve been good. Just get the 3-D garbage out if there.
@@israk7478 Oh and fun fact: He was P.J. Soles' boyfriend back when they shot the original "Halloween," so he was around them when they were shooting that movie.
This is probably the only good stuff u will see of jaws 3 n 4. Because the movies are garbage. I rather watch them shoot and fail and keep trying then watch the movie it’s self.
Thank you RUclips for recommending this after 11 years

My father worked at sea world at the time the movie came out. He would drive the ski boats. I can spot him in a few of these scenes.
This is a very cool behind-the-scenes video. Thanks for sharing, Eric Hollander!
So good you got to record this at the time and great quality x
It's sad when a home movie of the filming of a movie is 100x better than the movie being filmed.
Great stuff many thanks for sharing
This movie should get a lot more credit
Maybe the complainers should see this!
Thanks 🙏

I was just there today and rode the flamingo paddle boats with my kid. I thought that’s where it was. Thank you
Thankyou so much for posting
Brilliant footage Erik, thanks again for posting this.

I freaking LOVE JAWS 3D. It's easily my favorite sequel in the franchise. Super, super underrated.
@Right To Censor There's always room for improvement, and yes, I wish the shark would have eaten more people in the movie.

That's amazing footage, terrific stuff, thanks for sharing,
cheers for putting this up, its terrific stuff. aussie jaws from jawsboard
Completely awesome footage!!
I still would love to see something showing the mother Bruce shark. Never found any footage other than the mini scaled version for the end explosion.
Exactly! I don’t know why it’s so dam hard to see the animatronic itself.
The scaled down version is the baby shark they catch in the movie

thanks erik this footage will be using on my jaws 3d dvd bonus
Wait, what??
omfg 5:34 is the GEM of this video. Dennis Quaid '82 was a HUNK!!

Great footage! Can you remember what camera you used back then? It's surprisingly crisp, fast zoom and quick aperture for 1982. RCA or maybe even the first BetaMovie?
This is awesome, I watch this movie almost every day during the Summer, thanks for this footage
why it's awful
No it's not awful. The theme park is a great idea.
Can't you sell this footage to Univesal as part of a special edition extra footage?
Did the crew and guests cheer after the scene was shot at 2:58?
Amazing!!!!!!!!!
Why in the hell did not the blu- ray version include this?
Are there any pictures or video of the mechanical "mother shark" from JAWS 3-D? That thing was gigantic.
I liked the movie.
Excellent Footage...5 *
@jksonny did the film crew see you filming on set? or did you have to sneak your camera in??
This movie is way more popular than it's given credit for, speilberg is definitely jealous of Alves who did the heavy lifting in Jaws and Jaws 2...it would have made it into the top 10 if it hadn't had been yanked from the theaters after 4 weeks despite still making money.
When I first saw Jaws 3D one thing I always wondered was why Seaworld was chosen for the second installment of the Jaws Films.
You mean 3rd installment.
I also was an extra @ Sea World in 1993 for a show called Sea Quest. NOT uncommon for them to allow filming there for the right price...
On youtube you can find "making of Jaws 3d", there is a few shots of this shark under water in special water tank. Unfortunately, I failed to find any other source.
This is great because the dvd and blu Ray have no making of or outtakes
I thought these were two metallic shark models but they're just dolphin models at 5:12.
Wow. Fantastic! Or should I say "fintastic"? No, fantastic.
How did you get on set, was Sea World even open that day?
the dorsal fin wasn't added to the mechanical sharks i see,why is that?
is there any other footage or just this day
Iconic
Was this at Sea World?
you could of offer this footage to universal of the blu ray and DVd version .They probably would have paid you a lot to use it.
Very interesting. I would have like to better see the 3-D camera.
You might like to see this scene in 3-D (french version) : Jaws 3 en 3-D
Joe Alves designed the shark for the original movie.
I liked the original title: JAWS 3 - People 0
I think jaws was on of the best movie ever made I like jaws 2 but this I've never been more disappointed in a film in my life remember I was so angry over this hate the movie 🦈
must have missed that scene when i watched, shark driving a speedboat should have been filmed lol
intresting stuff
I really got pleased visually at 5:36
👍👍
First day and should of been the last day!
Crowd goes wild over a jet ski ride...smh..
The NEW Jaws 4 the revenge shark skinner??? D:
