      caveymoley Huge chunk of psychology is coming from philosophy and spirituality. Only part of it is mechanistic and scientifically reductionist. Freud for example built his psychoanalysis on Greek Biblical mythology and the Jungian archetypal psycgology derived from that. And these mythologies quite precisely describe our psyche through allegories.
      Psychology branched out of philosophy and it is a combination of hard sciences, social sciences and art.

    I have Low Latent Inhibition (LLI) and what Peterson explains @4:09 and onward, I experience just that. My memory is beyond photographic. When the brain acts as a uncontrolled sponge to literally all that is stimuli, your mind can go nuts. For years on end I had to find a way to control that without using Ritalin, weed or any drugs but damn it can be a struggle from time to time.

  • @Davidjune1970
    @Davidjune1970 6 лет назад +14

    You think it matters, therefore it does and you perceive it as so.
    It's like a state of precognition. Your brain works based on your preconceived ideas to make the world seem the way you want it to be and as it fools itself with this time saver it also is surprised when it learns how wrong you were,
    You're driving and want to turn left in front of traffic ... you look to see if it is clear and then turn when it is safe to do so, but sometimes your brain just thinks it's clear and suddenly a car that is there isn't seen until too late and it just seems to come out of nowhere right before the crash.
    Or you buy a silver Mercedes thinking you will be the only one in your neighborhood with that car and suddenly you notice just how many their are around you because suddenly once you own one that car matters to you.
    Or that good looking person in class who you were certain was flirting with you ... is just friendly and treats everyone that way ... You just didn't notice and thought you were special and had a shot at them ... Until their rebuke set your world straight
    Mind over matter, make it so

    JK Rowling messed up so many times with her angry, ill-informed or badly-researched comments on social media (Trump & boy in wheelchair, or PewDiePie, for example). Is a person still intelligent if their anger/ego/impulsiveness make them post things that are wrong? Writing books involves deep research, multiple edits and proof reading by the writer and by others, whereas Rowling's Twitter posts are probably much closer to her true personality and intelligence.

    • @sarasindi7514

    We're attracted to the now, the moment. For example, you know when you're doing a very intense workout, like speed rope or pushing your body off the floor with exercises like explosive pushups and gum ball burpees, it gets the heart thumping, it doesn't matter one bit what's going on tomorrow, or in a week, even what's happened in the past. All that matters is that moment.
    Dopamine's the best drug in the World, and it's free. Same goes for cold showers. It centres you because you have to just focus on your breathing in that moment. If you don't focus on your breathing, you'll only think about the cold, then you're fucked. You'll start shivering like a bitch and you may even feel a bit of shock.
    Learn from the past, enjoy the present, give a shit about the future.
