@@redsol3629 I've been carnivore for 8 months now and I can attest to much better digestion. No more pain or bloating. My bloodwork is so good that my Dr just told me to keep "doing my thing". It's amazing to have no inflammation or pain.
Mine too. I do so well in a low carb carnivore diet. No poop problems. If I eat veggies I feel lousy. ! I eat meat, cheese, eggs mostly. Works for me. Been eating this way for 5 yrs

This totally matches up with my own personal experiences - I bought into the idea that fibre solves the constipation problem - so much so that I was eating lots of oats and veggies with every meal - constipation just got worse and worse - fibre - particularly soluble fibre was causing massive constipation.
Me too, took me a while to figure it out. I was eating my greens and telling myself I'm a good boy for doing so, turns out the massive compact stools that were frequently causing me to bleed from the anus and develop hemmeroids was from the fiber in the veggies. I feel so stupid. I cut out the greens and a week later I was having bowel movements that were so fucking effortless, painfree and quick. I could almost cry.

Last week I caved to a desire to have a chewy sweet treat (licorice based), a BIG mistake. I discovered what it is to be an addict given their poison of choice. In short, I made myself extremely ill. I gave myself a level of constipation I could never have dreamed of! I've learned my lesson. I have done carnivore a few times and always feel 100%. Only problem is that I get scared and also tempted to get variety in my diet (brainwashing is hard to undo). I think I'll slowly transition over to carnivore again and take a multi just in case.
I took three heaping spoonfuls of psyllium husk powder 3 days ago and have been bloated and constipated ever since. It might be anecdotal but damn it has me rethinking the longterm consequences of fiber consumption. On top of that my Mom has complained about bloating/constipation throughout my life and she has always eaten high fiber foods.

In All fields it's incredible the extent to which knowledge take for granted is simply false and held up for decades by institutions whom profit thusly
Thank you so much Dr. Mason! This corona scandal was the last straw for me - I'm breaking up :) with mainstream medicine. It does nothing but make us sicker. I believe the main reason is that they function almost solely on a pharmaceutical model - in fact; I think medicine is controlled by pharmaceutical companies, not by the science. Medical students are taught to follow this model, and accept a lot of myths as facts, and not go to the basic science to really understand anything. Then, the final nail in the coffin is the 'advice' from these governmental health agencies (in my country, the U.S.), that give supposed health advice that has no scientific basis, makes people more sick, and seems to be serving other agendas vs. improving the health and well being of the public. It is obvious now in light of the reaction to a virus, a member of a family we are commonly exposed to, and in terms of mortality and symptoms, is nothing more than the usual yearly flu viruses we face every year. is We are told to destroy our immune systems, overall physical and mental health; by staying inside (not exercising, no sunlight, no fresh air), avoid other people, stand behind plexiglass, and wear masks constantly. When we know none of these things prevent the viral infections and actually cause harm. I have seen 5 GI specialists for my GI disorder of unknown etiology , therefore called IBS. Constipation and pain are main symptoms. I have gone to the supposed #1 facility for GI disorders in the U.S. - the Mayo Clinic. All of them insist by problem is not enough fiber in my diet, promote a high fiber diet, and want to prescribe medications to improve my bowel motility - prescription meds + the notorious over the counter Miralax; to be used forever; which makes me sick, was only approved for short term (i.e. one week use). Anyone 'at risk' for heart disease, or who has high cholesterol, is put on a statin drug (I think this is has to be 50% or more of the American population - yet except for some cases of pathological cholesterol formation, there has been no causation established between high cholesterol and heart attacks and strokes, Statin drugs block production of Vit D (see Corona virus above), and everyone now is deficient in Vit D, which increases their risk of developing respiratory infections. They also block hormone production, and now so many men I know are going for injections of testosterone, b/c of their low levels. And we know cholesterol is critical for healthy cell membranes. Vaccinations that are ineffective and full of toxic substances are widely promoted and we are not allowed to question them. And the diets... the low fat diet is still promoted, along with the high fiber.. and LOTS of fruits and vegetables (which are also laced with pesticides). Guaranteed to make you sick I don't know what the answer is, I have found an MD who has left the "system" and uses a more wholistic medicine approach. There are a few exceptions, like Dr. Mason, who as we see, actually reads and relies on the real science and common sense. Otherwise, I am avoiding the mainstream medical system completely. I see it killing people right before my eyes, and causing many, like me to suffer and not have a life of much quality. Thank you Dr. Mason, even though I doubt you will see this. For the first time in over a decade, I feel I have some hope . My diet consists largely of the greatest offenders you mentioned. I'm hoping that starting with cutting them out will be a good start.
i suddenly developed ibs , I cant eat veg i eat it and i suffer! my gastro says that can be normal for ibs. as a nure i tell impacted pts to stop with fiber until we have cleared everything.
i was eating bread with bran for a while..... ended up having inflammation for months, was on antibiotics twice - and that was just one side effect out of many unpleasant side effects. after second antibiotic treatment i decided not to ever eat anything with bran again. things normalised immediately (i still use water-soluble fiber on occasion, like flex seeds - it appears to be fine).
Been eating only meat for a year now. On the few occasions that I have had anything other than meat, are the only times I have had any digestive problems.
I’m curious about garlic, onions and avocado? Also things like camu camu fruit powder for vit c (contains fiber) as well as non fortified nutritional yeast (contains fiber) for a good B complex source? You know, things like that. Maybe low carb/fiber high protein moderate fat is best, for me. As well, let’s consider before all this specialized nutritional advice and modern medicine stuff began, we had certain people groups that did fine with carbs, fiber, etc.. prepared the right way mind you. I think what I’m learning most of all is to consider our individuality and somewhat our personal ancestries.
I have diverticulitis. Colon covered with pouches they tell me. I was told to eat a high fiber diet. Every time I consume high fiber foods like bran or oats I have a GI bleed. I almost died last hospital trip. I had to be airlifted from a small hospital to a larger one. I had to get units of blood. I only have 1 or 2 bowel movements a week. I have all my life. What should I be eating? I cannot afford another GI bleed. They have trouble stopping them. I just got taken off a blood thinner after a heart attack and 2 stents. I need to know what to safely eat.
I am almost done reading a book called "Fiber Menace" by Konstantin Monastyrsky. He explains a lot and I found his information very helpful as is Dr Mason's. It is well worth the read regarding fiber and what you can do to help yourself.
If I were you I'd intermittent fast for life via 2MAD (within a 4-6 hour eating window) and move my eating patterns towards ketovore. Ketones help with heart problems and eating lower amounts of carb than even normal everyday "keto" will avoid the problem of too much fiber from vegetables. I'd also move as in walk (move a lot) 4 to 8 hours a day for the rest of my life. It's your life though...
It must be different in keto but I have what I thought was a common experience, of eating food and fiber and having perfect bowel movements and then sometimes eating more potatoes chips or white rice instead of brown, or sugar / cakes etc, and getting constipated. Even just eating more white rice and I noticed harder less easy to pass stools.
there is lots of evidence that altering your gut bacteria can lead to weight loss. ... if you sufficiently reduce caloric intake. why is this not conveyed more? my doctor was concerned when i told him i was on a no carb high meat diet. now after 5 years he is concerned that my condition says i'm lying. anyone know a good all meat doctor in the anchorage area?
eating tempura and spring rolls fried on lard fixed my constipation now that i have stopped, im constipated again and bloated also i cant tolerate FODMAPs, but with tempura i could eat both gluten and FODMAP veggies like cabbage just fine no problems
I experimented with higher fiber last week and let me tell you, I had the worst gas pains in all my 26 years of living. I have just told myself that maybe I’m not one of those people who poop once per day. Sometimes it is once per week and sometimes it is twice. When this happened, I used to tell myself that I was constipated but I never experienced any bloating or gas pains. Last week I had a ton of fiber which I thought would send me to the toilet faster than ever, but I had an awful experience and will never do it again.
Absolutely not. Fiber is like bones of plants. Undigestable. Just "gut spam". But I still use fruits to make water kefirs and vegetables for fermentation. But I still dont eat that fiber. Only drink that probiotic water from jar
Its all about minimizing that meddling effect of insulin on gluconeogenesis(metabolic pathway for burning body fat for energy). Its also why CICO is a scam, and ultimately a yoyo diet that can leave people with a suppressed basal metabolic rate(BMR).
I started at 122kg and I've lost 5kg in 3 weeks. Only eat meat and eggs really. Want to start adding offal like liver, and I wanna start eating meat raw. Takes a bit of training to overcome the conditioning, but you gotta get some good grass finished beef from a farm. Healthy instead of sick and pumped full of antibiotics.
Haha that's just stupid what ur saying. My dad is on a carnivore diet for over 30 years now and he's eating only meat, some fruits and vegetables and oils and he's doing fine
@@ozzymer And my dad started smoking at 12 years of age and now he is 75 and still smokes up to 2 packs a day (and ge is doing fine). Correlation does not equal causation, and you can not draw conclusions from personal experience or cases with small samples sizes. That is why in medicine we study cancer rates in large amounts of population given different circumstantes and lifestyle choices. There is a reason why red meat and processed meats are listed as class I carcinogen (the same list that has asbesto, certain dioxins, plutonium, tobacco smoke, excessive radiation, etc) and all the other meats are listed as class II (possible carcinogen). If you want to play russian roulette then it is up to you, but do not guide other people towards the same path.
@7:00 "and given that the volume of the whole gastrointestinal tract is only about 1 liter" Wow, that’s incredible So when we see people with huge belly it’s all fat, visceral fat.....
A lot of people commenting how veggies made them constipated and carnivore didn't, I'm the exact opposite. After years on the carnivore diet, constant constipation, bad haemorrhoids, Diverticular Disease, and Ulcerative Colitis, a high soluble fibre diet has been my salvation. I believe many years of meat eating was the cause of all my issues. I would treat the 'advice' of these influencers with caution.
check out the fibre and meat consumption in the blue zones and in natural tribes on one hand and on the other hand check meat loving and fibre poor countries like Argentine and USA. Then compare colon cancer, diabetes, cardio etc. 🤔
Blue zones have been debunked, and all the people looked at in "high meat consumption" countries ALSO consume lots of carbs. Can't say meat is the bad guy when carbs are in the equation.
Most of the people I see in the YT comment section of scientific videos (like this one) talking about the pros and cons of fiber overwhelmingly say that removing fiber helped reduce and/or eliminate their bloating/constipation. Very few people, I'd say less than 15%, say that it somehow helped them.
I'm sure there are outliers, as with anything. But fiber adds bulk to the stool. That bulk psychologically makes some people think they are having a "better" bowel movement. But bigger is not necessarily better.
Your comment couldn't be further from the truth. Tons of people on the carnivore diet and other closely related diets all experience improvements in digestion and reversal of diseases like IBS when eliminating or drastically reducing fiber intake in their diets. Their experiences absolutely confirm the information provided by Dr Paul Mason in this video. Keep coping by telling yourself that (your own comment) and stay indoctrinated ;)
Low fiber and milk in moderation saves going to the toilet, water and paper. I don't want to go every day if every 3 days works just fine. Wastage of empty vegetable food that we carry, prepare and cook doesn't sit with me. It's far easier to cause a diarrhea by eating too much wrong things than constipation. More bacterial cells than human cells? How? If the bacterial only live on surfaces inside and outside, and the cells occupy the rest of the body volume? Are bacteria so much smaller?
THANK YOU SO Much for this Info.. NOW I can actualy have PROOF that my guts were killing me when ppl told me. "YOU NEED FIBER" lol no you dont ..This is EXACLTY why I felt like crap ALL of the time. for 46 days now I have been on a non restrictive Carnivore diet.. "non restrictive" meaning I still have my coffe with creamer in it in the morning. and a few imes since being on this diet I have had caramelized onions and mushrooms on my steaks. BUT My guts now feel SO much better. I no longer have Gass and bloating issues. No more diarrhea and hemorrhoid pain.
@@TheHoth1 i quit eating rice since i posted that. I now eat meat and fruit, but too much fruit gives me issues and makes me hungry. I'm gonna eat mainly protein and fat now
Whenever I hear a folksy metaphor like the one given here by Herr Doctor, my BS radar perks up. Oh, the traffic jam on a highway is quite similar to intestinal constipation? How? Does the highway expand and contract like the sphincter and other gastrointestinal muscles? Does a highway have the ability to draw water into itself as part of its mechanism? Fiber is used to bulk up _and trigger the defecation reflex,_ that seems to be missed by the good doctor on a video discussing myths. Keep on your toes, people, this is a good example of false equivalency. It's sneaky because it sounds sensible and true.
The rationale for fiber being good to prevent constipation is explained with a bad analogy as well, that of plumbing. Which doesn't explain how many people like myself can switch to very little to no fiber diets and experience not only no constipation but no digestion issues at all. Even less digestion issues compared to our previously higher fiber intake. I think the claims about the necessity of fiber were trumped up by the powerful farming/food industry in America by influencing the nutritional talking points, so its good to hear the other side.
I've experienced the intestinal traffic jam on many occasions where the stool in front is hard, but the stool in back was soft. All it did was cause a major bottleneck and some of the worst pain I've ever felt. The rectum can only expand so much.
What about the 2015 Meta-analysis entitled: "Association Between Dietary Fiber and Lower Risk of All-Cause Mortality: A Meta-Analysis of Cohort Studies by Yang Yang, Long-Gang Zhao, Qi-Jun Wu, Xiao Ma, and Yong-Bing Xiang published in the American Journal of Epidemiology. Pretty convincing scientific evidence for the benefits of fibre
why you never ever speak and discuss with Dr Will Bulsiewicz is really a biggest puzzle than big bang theory...reason we humans do not progress becauase of this believe based videos than discussing with opposite views and solving onece and for all...
Starchy carbohydrates were a major factor in the evolution of the human brain, according to a study co-authored by researchers from the University of Sydney's Charles Perkins Centre and Faculty of Agriculture and Environment The research is a blow to advocates of low carb meat based diets which shun starch-rich vegetables and grains.
Carbohydrates are good because they are energy to the body, and when you take it directly as carbohydrates it is more efficient. The difference is that today we are not hunters anymore. We do not need to take the amount of carbohydrates we needed in the times humans hunted. I was seeing a video on professional dancers, and one of the things they usually ate to boost performance was... peanut butter! YES, and their bodies were like horses, but they were performing 6~8 hours per day!The humans also never evolved to be couch potatoes or PC gamers. We jumped from being mainly agricultural and labor intensive to being industrialized, to the point our bodies haven't evolved enough for this.
Do you not see the conflict of interest? The study was done by people WORKING FOR AGRICULTURE DEPT. They got paid to say things to support consumption of carbs.
The fiber myth is just that...a myth! After quitting all grains and most vegetables, my digestion got much better than before!!
I don’t believe it.

Absolutely not. Fiber is like bones of plants. Undigestable. Just "gut spam". But I still use fruits to make water kefirs and vegetables for fermentation. But I still dont eat that fiber. Only drink that probiotic water from jar
@StreetCliche Do you eat fruits to make stool soften?
Cutting carbs down to a minimum made me loose 5 kilos in less than 2 months!!!
Its all about minimizing that meddling effect of insulin on gluconeogenesis(metabolic pathway for burning body fat for energy). Its also why CICO is a scam, and ultimately a yoyo diet that can leave people with a suppressed basal metabolic rate(BMR).
From ?
I started at 122kg and I've lost 5kg in 3 weeks. Only eat meat and eggs really. Want to start adding offal like liver, and I wanna start eating meat raw. Takes a bit of training to overcome the conditioning, but you gotta get some good grass finished beef from a farm. Healthy instead of sick and pumped full of antibiotics.
@@snoweh1 even antibiotic meat is healthier than grains
@@carly582 Is that due to all of the glyphosate in grains and vegetables now days?
Legend.
I only get constipation and hemorrhoids when I stop eating meat.
I always thought it was my personal bias cause I prefer a meat heavy diet
Well if you eat a lot of meat and oils colon cancer will present.
Haha that's just stupid what ur saying. My dad is on a carnivore diet for over 30 years now and he's eating only meat, some fruits and vegetables and oils and he's doing fine
I'm the opposite. I'm morally against eating meat but it's my whole diet. It's the only way I feel healthy.
@@TB1M1 yes, like people in Argentina who love their meat have a high incidence of colon cancer
@7:00 "and given that the volume of the whole gastrointestinal tract is only about 1 liter"
Wow, that’s incredible
So when we see people with huge belly it’s all fat, visceral fat.....
In my case it was bloating from fermentation. Id literally fart and my stomach would go down lol.
Or gas
I've had to learn to be kind to myself and remind myself that some of my abdomen is gas when it's puffed out. By morning, nice lean look
People can retain fluid in the belly area, and it's related to liver inflammation. So that's fluid, not fat, in some cases.
As I’m watching this I’m eat a container of peanuts
A lot of people commenting how veggies made them constipated and carnivore didn't, I'm the exact opposite. After years on the carnivore diet, constant constipation, bad haemorrhoids, Diverticular Disease, and Ulcerative Colitis, a high soluble fibre diet has been my salvation. I believe many years of meat eating was the cause of all my issues. I would treat the 'advice' of these influencers with caution.
Great information.
Great video 👍 thank you 🙏🏻
So what's the solution to constipation?
Eat fewer plants. Drink a cup of coffee a day if you're still straining to 💩
Olive oil
Increase fat until you go, drink when thirsty. Fat sources - eggs (the yolks), butter, ghee, beef fat, duck fat, pretty much any animal fat.
I like the bacteria graphics you use.
So what is the solution?
Juice your vegetables and eat low fibre fruits. Don’t eat any wheat products, your carbohydrate intake should be very basic and not complex.
Coffee
check out the fibre and meat consumption in the blue zones and in natural tribes on one hand and on the other hand check meat loving and fibre poor countries like Argentine and USA. Then compare colon cancer, diabetes, cardio etc. 🤔
What's the answer?
Blue zones have been debunked, and all the people looked at in "high meat consumption" countries ALSO consume lots of carbs. Can't say meat is the bad guy when carbs are in the equation.
Thank you for this!
This is quite the opposite to what lustig is saying. He emphasis on fiber.
Most of the people I see in the YT comment section of scientific videos (like this one) talking about the pros and cons of fiber overwhelmingly say that removing fiber helped reduce and/or eliminate their bloating/constipation. Very few people, I'd say less than 15%, say that it somehow helped them.
What are bad effects of high fibre diet?
When you drink less water, u have to drink plenty of water to control the fiber in ur gut otherwise u will have abdominal pain
This is entirely contrary to the personal experience of millions of people.
Simply brilliant it’s very convincing even to people with low IQ. Thank you Dr. Paul
Wait a minute. Are you suggesting that adding more cars to a traffic jam DOESN'T solve the problem? Hmmm.
Lol... Dude is a joke!

Year 3 fiber free! Life is good ay!
where tf am i supposed to get my vitamins and nutrients from then? don’t wanna rely on suppliments

@@veniqer animal foods yes, but they don't have to be raw to get everything necessary
I've had keto constipation for a few months, gotta try reducing fiber I guess
Do u cook it long enough I think that might be the problem I dont know for sure
U drink of plenty water??, causing of constipation while consuming too much fiber, is lack of water .u need more water , even u do juicing
So it's been 9 months since you figured out that you needed to reduce fiber with your keto lifestyle.
How did it go??
I just ate sweet potatoes and got constipation and vomiting again, I might just only eat white rice and meat at this point, or I'll just go carnivore
I am Asian and I stopped eating rice for a couple days now. Feels like a million bucks;)
@@TheHoth1 i quit eating rice since i posted that. I now eat meat and fruit, but too much fruit gives me issues and makes me hungry. I'm gonna eat mainly protein and fat now
sweet potatoes are very high oxalate, refer to Sally K Norton for more info
Deleting the comments you don't like...huh?

Starchy carbohydrates were a major factor in the evolution of the human brain, according to a study co-authored by researchers from the University of Sydney's Charles Perkins Centre and Faculty of Agriculture and Environment
The research is a blow to advocates of low carb meat based diets which shun starch-rich vegetables and grains.

If your on a keto there are no reason to eat carbs. They are unhealthy
Not starch. Its cooked meat..
Do you not see the conflict of interest? The study was done by people WORKING FOR AGRICULTURE DEPT. They got paid to say things to support consumption of carbs.
