    This totally matches up with my own personal experiences - I bought into the idea that fibre solves the constipation problem - so much so that I was eating lots of oats and veggies with every meal - constipation just got worse and worse - fibre - particularly soluble fibre was causing massive constipation.

      Me too, took me a while to figure it out. I was eating my greens and telling myself I'm a good boy for doing so, turns out the massive compact stools that were frequently causing me to bleed from the anus and develop hemmeroids was from the fiber in the veggies. I feel so stupid. I cut out the greens and a week later I was having bowel movements that were so fucking effortless, painfree and quick. I could almost cry.

    Thank you so much Dr. Mason! This corona scandal was the last straw for me - I'm breaking up :) with mainstream medicine. It does nothing but make us sicker. I believe the main reason is that they function almost solely on a pharmaceutical model - in fact; I think medicine is controlled by pharmaceutical companies, not by the science. Medical students are taught to follow this model, and accept a lot of myths as facts, and not go to the basic science to really understand anything. Then, the final nail in the coffin is the 'advice' from these governmental health agencies (in my country, the U.S.), that give supposed health advice that has no scientific basis, makes people more sick, and seems to be serving other agendas vs. improving the health and well being of the public.
    It is obvious now in light of the reaction to a virus, a member of a family we are commonly exposed to, and in terms of mortality and symptoms, is nothing more than the usual yearly flu viruses we face every year. is We are told to destroy our immune systems, overall physical and mental health; by staying inside (not exercising, no sunlight, no fresh air), avoid other people, stand behind plexiglass, and wear masks constantly. When we know none of these things prevent the viral infections and actually cause harm.
    I have seen 5 GI specialists for my GI disorder of unknown etiology , therefore called IBS. Constipation and pain are main symptoms. I have gone to the supposed #1 facility for GI disorders in the U.S. - the Mayo Clinic. All of them insist by problem is not enough fiber in my diet, promote a high fiber diet, and want to prescribe medications to improve my bowel motility - prescription meds + the notorious over the counter Miralax; to be used forever; which makes me sick, was only approved for short term (i.e. one week use).
    Anyone 'at risk' for heart disease, or who has high cholesterol, is put on a statin drug (I think this is has to be 50% or more of the American population - yet except for some cases of pathological cholesterol formation, there has been no causation established between high cholesterol and heart attacks and strokes, Statin drugs block production of Vit D (see Corona virus above), and everyone now is deficient in Vit D, which increases their risk of developing respiratory infections. They also block hormone production, and now so many men I know are going for injections of testosterone, b/c of their low levels. And we know cholesterol is critical for healthy cell membranes.
    Vaccinations that are ineffective and full of toxic substances are widely promoted and we are not allowed to question them.
    And the diets... the low fat diet is still promoted, along with the high fiber.. and LOTS of fruits and vegetables (which are also laced with pesticides). Guaranteed to make you sick
    I don't know what the answer is, I have found an MD who has left the "system" and uses a more wholistic medicine approach. There are a few exceptions, like Dr. Mason, who as we see, actually reads and relies on the real science and common sense. Otherwise, I am avoiding the mainstream medical system completely.
    I see it killing people right before my eyes, and causing many, like me to suffer and not have a life of much quality.
    Thank you Dr. Mason, even though I doubt you will see this. For the first time in over a decade, I feel I have some hope . My diet consists largely of the greatest offenders you mentioned. I'm hoping that starting with cutting them out will be a good start.

    I’m curious about garlic, onions and avocado? Also things like camu camu fruit powder for vit c (contains fiber) as well as non fortified nutritional yeast (contains fiber) for a good B complex source? You know, things like that. Maybe low carb/fiber high protein moderate fat is best, for me.
    As well, let’s consider before all this specialized nutritional advice and modern medicine stuff began, we had certain people groups that did fine with carbs, fiber, etc.. prepared the right way mind you. I think what I’m learning most of all is to consider our individuality and somewhat our personal ancestries.

      I'm sure there are outliers, as with anything. But fiber adds bulk to the stool. That bulk psychologically makes some people think they are having a "better" bowel movement. But bigger is not necessarily better.

      Your comment couldn't be further from the truth. Tons of people on the carnivore diet and other closely related diets all experience improvements in digestion and reversal of diseases like IBS when eliminating or drastically reducing fiber intake in their diets. Their experiences absolutely confirm the information provided by Dr Paul Mason in this video. Keep coping by telling yourself that (your own comment) and stay indoctrinated ;)

    Low fiber and milk in moderation saves going to the toilet, water and paper. I don't want to go every day if every 3 days works just fine. Wastage of empty vegetable food that we carry, prepare and cook doesn't sit with me. It's far easier to cause a diarrhea by eating too much wrong things than constipation.
    More bacterial cells than human cells? How? If the bacterial only live on surfaces inside and outside, and the cells occupy the rest of the body volume? Are bacteria so much smaller?

    Whenever I hear a folksy metaphor like the one given here by Herr Doctor, my BS radar perks up. Oh, the traffic jam on a highway is quite similar to intestinal constipation? How? Does the highway expand and contract like the sphincter and other gastrointestinal muscles? Does a highway have the ability to draw water into itself as part of its mechanism? Fiber is used to bulk up _and trigger the defecation reflex,_ that seems to be missed by the good doctor on a video discussing myths. Keep on your toes, people, this is a good example of false equivalency. It's sneaky because it sounds sensible and true.

    • @fatrick9001
      @fatrick9001 3 года назад +5

      The rationale for fiber being good to prevent constipation is explained with a bad analogy as well, that of plumbing. Which doesn't explain how many people like myself can switch to very little to no fiber diets and experience not only no constipation but no digestion issues at all. Even less digestion issues compared to our previously higher fiber intake. I think the claims about the necessity of fiber were trumped up by the powerful farming/food industry in America by influencing the nutritional talking points, so its good to hear the other side.

      I've experienced the intestinal traffic jam on many occasions where the stool in front is hard, but the stool in back was soft. All it did was cause a major bottleneck and some of the worst pain I've ever felt. The rectum can only expand so much.

    Starchy carbohydrates were a major factor in the evolution of the human brain, according to a study co-authored by researchers from the University of Sydney's Charles Perkins Centre and Faculty of Agriculture and Environment
    The research is a blow to advocates of low carb meat based diets which shun starch-rich vegetables and grains.

    • @AlehandrosArhangelos
      @AlehandrosArhangelos 4 года назад +9

      Carbohydrates are good because they are energy to the body, and when you take it directly as carbohydrates it is more efficient. The difference is that today we are not hunters anymore. We do not need to take the amount of carbohydrates we needed in the times humans hunted.
      I was seeing a video on professional dancers, and one of the things they usually ate to boost performance was... peanut butter! YES, and their bodies were like horses, but they were performing 6~8 hours per day!The humans also never evolved to be couch potatoes or PC gamers. We jumped from being mainly agricultural and labor intensive to being industrialized, to the point our bodies haven't evolved enough for this.
